Channing - your a great mom!!! Way to go!!!:woohoo: She'll never forget these things you do!!

Kristin - Wow!! Kindergarten!!!

I don't have a lot of it (I only went to my first party last fall). But we had just painted the mudroom this wonderful cranberry red and put on a french door etc. so it looked too fancy for the dog's old set. I thought DH was going to give me MAJOR grief over it but he liked it.

I am more of a Pampered Chef gal myself :lovestruc

no way..... so what do you like to do, bake and cook and decorate cakes or something? :rotfl: ;) You are our awesome Cake Domestic Goddess!

A friend has been asking me to do a pampered chef partay, I think i may in October..... a few of my measuring spoons are missing and I could use a few new fun kitchen gadgets!

Mandy, THANKS! I am gonna have to check that out!! I love that kinda stuff!:goodvibes

Annette
...Thanks!:goodvibes

Kristin...how about one morning next week? I need to get used to this wacky schedule....I am glad DS is OK with school! Oh...I remember how pooped out each of mine were when they started going all day. Exactly like your DS....it takes a lot out of them & a bit of time to adjust but he will. My girls just started today. DS started Mon. ugh...getting up at 6 is going to bum me out.:rotfl:

OMG...I just finished listening to the most FABULOUS Podcast.....it was the WDW Radio Show with Lou Mongello's August 17 edition...he interviews Richard M. Sherman..one of the fantastically talented Sherman Bros responsible for the Mary Poppins songs, Tiki Room, Figment theme, COP, SW, SO many Disney movie songs and then Theme Park songs:goodvibes AND CHitty Chitty Bang Bang songs!! What am amazing man. :worship: He talks about how he worked with Walt and there are little snippets about situations with Walt....For me the Disney music is such a major part of the whole experience and the memories I have it was one of the BEST podcasts I have ever listened to!!!! Just wanted to share it with any of you guys if it's something that might interest you! It's on Itunes & it's free. It is incredible. :wizard: :wizard:

You don't have to have an ipod...you can listen to it on your computer, too...omg...sorry to rave, but I LOVED IT!!

Talk to ya later....I think my alone time is about to end.....the girls only had 1/2 days today.

Chan:)

I keep saying I want to get into listening to podcasts an nerve bite the bullet!!! Maybe when the kids go to school and I have more ME time!!

I've been busy lately and I am just checking in to say Hi to all!

ALSO

Mandy - I am throwing some pixie dust your way.

Everyone - School Starting is rough on us parents too!

Hello :)

I have been encouraged to come out of lurkdom more often. So here I am!! I enjoy reading everyones posts. My son just started pre-K. Talk about stress...the last couple of years he went to a special learning center because we feared he was autisic. He had been showing traits since birth. Fortunately, he has sensory issues (no diagnosis of Autism) and with lots of therapy he has mainstreamed into school. It's exciting and scary. I love going in and seeing him playing with the other kids. We still have to work on social behaviors but he has come along way. That's his baby pic in my avatar. I guess I should update now, huh!

Anyway, I really hope to get ot know you all more. You have Channing to blame for making me come over here!! LOL!! Speaking of...Chan do you sew? I have a couple of bows that I wanted to add to the back heels of the shoes (that polka dot ribbon I used for laces), but I worry that the adhesive glue wont hold. Do you want me to include the little bows and you can attach? It think it would look cute, but I don't even sew buttons on things! :sad2: that's pitiful I know

Oh, we will be at the GF the end of October. Excited is an understatement.

/
Traci....OMG...I am *gasp* TERRIBLE at sewing....but....maybe DH has some mega glue that will work? :rotfl: :rotfl: Or I could try and sew...I do when I am forced. You are forcing me.:rotfl2:

I actually have a stash of clothes on a closet shelf that ...once the button falls off they just "disappear" onto this shelf forever.....it's pretty pathetic.

Yay!! I am glad you made it over here and came out from hiding!!!

TRACI IS GREAT!!!!! :cool1: Just so you all know.;)

Annette! I always load up my ipod and wear it when I am home alone and sorting laundry or vacuuming.....I love Disney podcasts. This Sherman Brother interview was just sooooo fantastic to me. It was one of my all time favorites ever!!:goodvibes I am crazy about their songs.:) :goodvibes

OK...back to work.:) Talk to ya all later! I just had to sneak in and check you all out!:goodvibes

Chan, breakfast next week sounds good (as long as we aren't striking by then  )

Mandy- are you making fun of me???????? :lmao: :lmao: Remind me later to post pictures of the cookie bouquet I made for DS's first day of school- it was cute!

Traci- Welcome!!!!!!!

Hi to everyone else I am missing (the queen of multiquoting didn't do it this time!)

Today I actually exercised :faint: I pulled out my old Firm tapes (yes, tapes, not DVDs!) and my "fanny lifter" (aka small square step a la step aerobics) and did it. It actually felt good to be active again!! :dance3:

Then I went to the library to stock up on my "reading" OK, romance novel lovers, I need some new authors!! Please share your favorites (historical only please!). I'll start- I love Judith McNaught (I own all of her London historicals) and Kathleen Woodwiss. Otherwise I just grab a random author here and there to read. I grabbed 2 at the library today (but I honestly don't remember who!!)

Have a great day!
Kristin

OK...busted I am still here....trying to fix up my stupid ipod.

OMG...historical romance...right up my alley!!! Brenda Joyce, Catherine Coulter, Kat Martin, Virginia Henley - her older stuff is much better than the newer...same with Catherine C and Kat Martin...Teresa Medeiros, Lisa Kleypas, Elizabeth Thornton, Amanda Quick, Jill Barnett, Julie Garwood, Celeste Bradley, Samantha James....Iris Johanson - her historicals are great...Katherine Sutcliffe...Candice Proctor....That's how I spent a lot of my time when DS was in kindergarden and Lucy was a sleeping baby!! READING!

Yes..next week is great....what? I thought Dawn said No STRIKE!?!?!?!:confused3 :confused3

OK...have to run now!
Chan

Good Afternoon Everybody :cool1: :cool1:. Boy what a day it's been...I'm having chat withdrawals from not being on here all day :rotfl: :rotfl:.

My DH said I can book next July by the end of the week!! Its a long way to wait, but I told him I need a ticker.

Now, I just have to worry about my DS and HS (passing regents and classes). I think we have to go a little later with my DHs new bosses (CME)!! I am thinking July 25th, we also have to go from Saturday to Sunday so he only misses one full week. The company is still going to be real busy for a year and my DH only wants to be away one week.

YAY for booking another trip :dance3:. We can do the countdown together as we're booked at the GF July 17-24 :yay:. But we'll be leaving just before you arrive....if you go the 25th :sad1:. But we can still watch the time tick away together ;). And it's really not THAT far away :wizard:.

Wishes - good for you on getting your DH to commit to booking a trip for next summer! My DH won't commit yet! We are going to Atlantis next June so he's dragging his feet on the GF! I'm working on him, though, otherwise I'm just going to have to just book it for next August. Don't know why he's dragging his feet - he knows how I operate !;) :goodvibes

Atlantis sounds like an awesome trip ;). Have you been before or will this be your first trip? I always just tell my DH the dates I booked rather than ask him when he'd like to go :lmao: :lmao:. He knows how Disney-crazed I am so he just lets me be when it comes to our Disney vacations :rotfl: :rotfl:.

I am dropping the rigid cane. That is just now out of the picture. I even think the mobility teacher did. She was going to measure Lucy for it but she didn't. She saw the distress on Lucy's face at the mention of it. I found out that many blind adults don't even always use any white canes if they're in familiar territory so I am just leaving it to Lucy's discretion. There are sooo many meanies and she doesn't have the self assurance yet to just be herself on this issue. She did use it on field trips last year...I forgot about that....so that tell me that she DOES use it when she really needs it...KWIM? It's tough being 12 and then tougher when you're not like everybody else.

Happy day,

Channing:)

Good for you!!!!! Your DD sounds like a super kid :). And it is tough being 12 and I think she'll do fine, especially with you leaving it to her discretion as to what she's comfortable with and not comfortable with. It's a darn shame how kids treat other kids today.........and the middle school age has to be the worst . Just keep doing what you're doing and everything will turn out ok :flower3:.

I just finished a Teresa Medeiros (One Night of Scandal) I liked it! OK, I gotta remember some of these!!

As for the strike, it hasn't started....yet.... they seem to be so far apart on some of the issues that it seems eminent. I am off to google it now and see the latest...

Yes post them, you are such a great mom for doing such a neat thing for the first day of school! :flower3:

Seriously it all from jealousy over your fab cakes! :worship: Around here it is a little like Bree and Katherine on desperate housewives..... us domestics playgroup ladies get at each other with our recipes.... I still have the best chicken salad! Trust me peopl ehave tried to beat it and cant! I have to say I can bake an awesome cake but when I decorate them, um they look like crap :confused3 At least they taste good............ I think you all know what happened when I attempted a fondant cake! :lmao:

WELCOME, Traci :flower3:. Glad your son is doing well in Pre-K :goodvibes. I remember the first day of preschool for my 2......now one's a Freshman in HS and the other is 8th grade :scared1:. How time flies :sad2:. Hold on to these times while you can cuz they slip by way too fast!!! How exciting that your trip is just around the corner :dance3:. The end of October will be here before you know it and you will be at the GF having a great time :cool1: :cool1:. Enjoy :wizard:.

Hi to everyone else I am missing (the queen of multiquoting didn't do it this time!)

Hey, multiquoting teacher :wave2:. That's ok......us multiquoting newbies will take care of it :rotfl: :rotfl:.

Thanks All (tee-hee) for the warm welcome! Bare with me...I'll get around to quoting and bolding everyone in time :)

Mickeynut my little guy keeps bringing home pictures he colors in class. I can't keep it all, but I can't bear to throw anything away. What in the world do I do? It's only been a week and I already have a pile of papers! I know I will keep a few, but I feel bad throwing aways his little masterpieces.

Channing, Don't force me to sew on these shoes! My OCD has kicked in and I keep adding things to them. Those HM bottlecaps still didn't come today. Those bows would look cute on the heel though....

I know what you mean about not wanting to throw things away.....and I haven't :rotfl: :rotfl:. I have soooo many boxes of things from BOTH my DSs from preschool to present that I haven't had the heart to throw away :sad2:. I know it's a sickness I have but I just can't do it :lmao: :lmao:. But it is hard to keep finding places for everything...and it's still even cute the things they bring home in middle school that they made in art or other classes....so it doesn't stop as they get older :rotfl:.

I'll just need to get more boxes then. :sad2:

I have a Disney sing-along dvd playing and I just heard my son say in whiney voice "I miss Mickey Mouse. I need to go see him." Little do they know we are going in less then 2 months :) :)

How absolutely adorable!!!!! They don't know they're going to Disney???? A surprise trip........how fun  . But how do you keep it a secret??? I'd be busting at the seams and not able to hold in all my excitement . (I've been bouncing off the walls ever since I booked our trip and I have 10 months to go :rotfl:). You are going to have THE BEST time :cool1: :cool1:. Come back and post lots of pics as I need all I can get to get me through the next 10 months before I get to the GF for THE FIRST TIME :cheer2: :cheer2:.

And yes.....get more boxes :rotfl: :rotfl:!!!

Oh, it's not a secret...they just don't know when we are going. Since they are only 3 and 4 years old they have no concept of time. DH and I told them when Mickey Mouse brings us presents that's when it's our turn. So the night before the trip we set presents out (kinda like Santa, only it's Mickey that comes). He leaves little gifts that they take on the trip. I start collecting little things for them to take in their backpacks for the plane, plus it cuts down on them wanting those expensive souveniers in the parks. I put balloons and stuff out. It's pretty festive when Mickey comes! Last year they were thanking Mickey for the presents when they saw him at the parks. I'm sure *Mickey* was like what the heck are you strange little kids talking about ?! Here's a pic from last years Mickey visit!

Needless to say the kids keep asking "When is Mickey going to tell us it's our turn??"
