Having a GRAND time - The Official GF Chat Thread PART 2

I just have to vent a little here, since I only have the 3 year old at home, and she has no idea what I am talking about. I have had an earache for 3 weeks. I have just been going up the street to the walk in clinic and having them check it each week because things have been so crazy around here, it is just the easiest thing to do. Each week they keep telling me that nothing is wrong with my ear, just some fluid probably due to allergy. They keep telling me to try these different allergy medicines, but nothing helps and now I can't sleep or even touch my ear or lay down on it. So I went to my regular doctor today and she said my ear is so infected and inflamed she could hardly even see into the tube. So now I have medicine, a steriod pack and ear drops. It makes me so mad that for 3 weeks the doctors at the walk in clinic could not figure this out. Okay, done venting.

The bags are packed (AND I did in the requisite 3 bags and they only weigh 35 pounds each!!! ), the house is clean, just need to get DS to soccer tonight and we are off!!

PS: DH said to tell ya'll that the fact that so many think the GF is snooty and the "looks" on the monorail are the main reasons he likes to stay there!!!!

Well, Kristin is off. I know she had a super early flight this am. I hope she enjoys her Pop stay. Maybe she won't be on our thread anymore.... She'll be over on the fab Pop thread.

I was thinking "Dance Fever".....when the Solid Gold Dancers came up. I forgot that one. I remember "Dance Fever" with Denny Terrio?? Not sure about the spelling.....totally disco....so I guess I am old!!!

Hello, everyone. DD gets out of school for the summer one week from today!!!
I am feeling a mad rush to get organized before then.

My kids have 4 wks left - including the rest of this week. I know what you mean...i am not down to panic mode yet, but I will be in a couple!! I used to LOVE summer...until all my kids went to school all day. Now these are MY days! I love it!!!!

We stayed at the BWI once. I love that location. We like to do a Swan/GF or YC/GF split so we can be in that area for part of the trip. I didn't like the BWI much. (actually we all hate it....we turned that stay into a family joke and it's been about 3 yrs and we still crack up about stuff that went on during that trip) We had a deluxe concierge room - which I DID love - but the concierge service was lame- o....you read so much on the DIS about how terrific they are. NOT. It was a big let down staying there after all I read on here. I couldn't wait to get to the GF. I even called CRO after our first night to try and get a GF room aSAp but nothing available. We won't be staying BWI again.

We are staying at the Poly and sailing from the Poly Marina. Should I still go thru GF Private Dining for any food and bev.? Or go thru Poly? Or should I go thru Poly IPO? I think I'd like to take care of it myself actually... But whom to call?

I can't seem to get ANY AP rates for our stay this summer, which is a bummer but Im just glad I have a room booked. But even trying to add a couple of days to the beginning or end gives me very few options They must not be offering many rooms at the discounted rate.

I don't know about which PD to use?? GF PD had it all set up and were just finishing it when we were there at the dock to board. I would almost say the GF PD because maybe they'd set it up and then head off to pick you up at the Poly. That is something you might want to just check into with IPO....they SHOULD know how to best handle that situation.

Sounds like fun!! I cannot twist DH 's arm hard enough to get him to do it again. He enjoyed it, but not $600 worth.

Thanks Lives4Disney! I will email Poly CL and ask them what I should do I'm surprising my DH with the fireworks cruise, so he won't know about the $$$$ 'til after the fact But I know he won't mind. It's a special occasion

Also, I'm gonna call CRO and see if I can apply AP code to my reservation. I've been looking online at different dates and maybe I'll have better luck on the phone.

I can't stand the label either. It's just as ridiculous as labeling someone that stays at the POP as poor and calling it low income housing. Who cares? I can stay at any hotel I want and I shouldn't be labeled "uppity" because I happen to be at the GF! Trust me I have stayed at the ASMv for a girls trip but we basically used the room as a place to crash and shower and then off again for more fun! The truth is labeling someone you don't' know based on where they choose to lodge is ignorant. Ignorant people are why we have so much hatred and problems in this world.

I like to read this thread esp since we are trying the GF for the first time in Sept. I check in on you ladies (and Mr Mike) to make sure you're all acting like the Grand ladies (except Praline...I know it's really hard for her to behave properly...lol)

I promise I'm not stalkerish...just quiet maybe

Plus, I'm a homeschool Mom so I get distracted by my students very frequently

Well, "uppidy" isn't a word and "uppity" does not begin to describe the average GF guest in my experience and I have stayed there a lot over the years... I totally understand your need to vent. I had to myself yesterday

You are going to LOVE the GF! I just returned and it is just a wonderful, magical, DISNEY place to be. We are all lucky indeed to get to vacation there

Well, I hope the TA is able to get my trip in Dec at the AP rate for RPC!~ But at this point I'm just thrilled to FINALLY be staying RPC, especially at Christmas. I do have the Bounceback booked for the 4 days prior to RPC at the YC with a water view, but I don't think I'm going to be able to get away for 8 nights with my new nursing job. So, we will try to go next May for a YC/??? split stay. My kids LOVE, LOVE, LOVE SAB, walking to Epcot, and Beaches and Cream. I've created monsters!

Thanks I am really excited about our Sept trip. I am going to keep an eye out in the lobby for all of the irregular regulars and I promise not to be if any Poppers or Polynesians dare come over on the monorail to visit

Hi Gals! I am ready for the kids to get out so I can quit running my behind off trying to get them everywhere. My life has been totally nuts the last few weeks. Swimming every night, recital, softball...ya name it we are doing it.

I am not too sure what I am going to do with the girls all summer though. It will be crazy boring for them I am sure!

Back to the GF vs Poly thing. It is just ridiculous. I stayed at the Poly and did not think it was over the top but I am not slamming the place.

My first stay at the GF is going to be in Dec and I just cannot wait!

(Still trying to decide on SL vs RPC thing. Today I just want to upgrade to RPC to listen to the Xmas music...tomorrow I will want to be in the SL to save money.
