:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Channing-You just wait til we tell those CM's in RPC that we know you!!

Seriously-I do love the cake. Did you find that on the cake thread??

Kelly found it. She posted it on the GF thread & as soon as I saw it I wanted it. I sent a pic to Vonnie in RPC and she told me who she thinks makes it and I know that person. :thumbsup2 The girls and I met her a while back & she's awesome. If you ever see the crazy looking Mad Hatter tiered cakes on the cake thread = she created those. Those are her babies. She is also the gingerbread lady. Her name is Ellen and she rocks. ALSO, V told me the name of the master pastry chef. Time to use all weapons available to get past the watch dog. :rotfl:

I am emailing her tomorrow...fully armed.:rotfl2:

SOS.....Does anybody have any decent pics of those horses in the GF lobby???? If you do can you post them here or email them to me? I am on a quest.

When and where are you having this cake delivered to??

Well that first week in July we have Lucy's, DH's and my bday...so I usually order a cake for Lucy and DH at least. So I would have it sent to our GF room.:)

Channing- I was just wondering. You always have such great ideas for your trips. The cake is very cute. Good luck with L tomorrow!

I turned 31 two months ago and sorry if it is rude to ask but Mandy, how old is your DH? I ask because my Dh is older than me and you mentioned yours is, too. My DH will be 48 this year...For all of you slow at math (like me), 17 years difference....It works for us and wouldnt change it for the world. I am also an old soul and love it! :goodvibes Not to be nosy but it peaked my curiosity when you said he was an old man! ;)

Siobhan

He is 8 1/2 years older. A lot of people were skeptical about "why" we were getting married but we proved them wrong about 9 months later :rotfl: Shame isn't it? We met at church, actually we knew of each other for a long time. My parents were his SS teachers, my grandma taught him in elem. school, and his younger brother and I were in youth at church. He was in the military and after getting out he ran into my mom at walmart and they chatted and he mentioned about how he was looking for a good girl to take to the movies. She joking and said something about "well if Mandy was older...." He started sitting with my grandma and parents in church and I sat with my friends and he started noticing I was a cutie, key word was, I think it sealed the deal the night I showed up at church in white jeans. He asked my parents if he could get to know me and they said yes as long as you understand no alone dates until she is 18 ( I was 9 months from turning 18) We had a dinner at church and for some reason ( I can't remember now) he rode with us to walmart and was going to our house but he had to pick up his truck at church and he asked me to ride with him. I said no thanks and I'll see you at the house. He pulled up next to us in traffic and said he was tired and had decide to go home. My mom was pissed and told me I had to call him an apologize fro being rude and invite him over. I did (even though I was NOT interested in him) and he came over. I was going to New York City the next morning and he stayed and hung out with me and mom while we packed my huge suitcase. When I got back from NY he was with my parents. I agreed to go out with him and realized I had to hang onto him because he was a great guy! We never dated alone until after my 18 birthday and never had opportunity's to be alone until after we were engaged! I know it's strange but I kinda think there is something to arranged marriages :rotfl: ;) JK! We got to know each other better than most people do before we were married because we wrote letters to each other, made sure we were compatible spiritually, and we left some things out of our relationship until we were married (not easy). We also went to 4 months of premarital counseling before I would agree to marry him. :rotfl: We have been married 8 1/2 year and have been through a lot of things like parents illnesses, financial struggles, discovering I had a uncommon disorder, and heart breaking loss and we just get stronger and stronger! He will tell you he fell in love with me because I made him laugh a true laugh and I made him want to be better (his words not mine, really!) I fell in love in love with him because he treated me like a princess and was more interested in my mind and heart than my body (I had problems finding guys that were like that) That my story!

Mandy~I was just catching up on the past pages of the last thread and your wedding picture is just beautiful :) Very classic and timeless!

Ahhh, Thank you!

Channing We did not get anything but our proofs. My mom got sick before we got married and we went to our photog to try and arrange a cheaper package since Marc and I were picking up the wedding tab. He flipped out on us too. He insisted on doing the same amount of photos because he said he had booked us for the whole day and he turned away business and refused to any less time or the money my parents had already paid ($1,800+) was going to be kept as a cancellation fee and we would be SOL. He was gonna make us pay for a huge package and would not let us get less pictures. What really pissed me off was my bridal portrait was already paid for but b/c of sloppy record keeping on my dads part caused us to not have any proof and he would not turn it over. It was a big oil painting on canvas from Italy. :sad2: We have the proofs at least. We never returned them and I have scanned them into my computer. :rotfl:

Here you go, this is the picture that was in the news paper write up:

That was a freaking novel!

Thanks Vanessa, they are great kids (most of the time)

Gals...I am going to take my "pink eye" to bed and hopefully it will be a better day tomorrow ;)

Mandy, what a great story. Sounds like your parents truly had your best interests at heart...8 1/2 yrs later they were right! :lovestruc

My husband and I were set up by my uncle (who is also a firefighter) and went on a semi-blind date....married 1 yr later...the rest is history 18yrs this August :lovestruc I know this sounds cheezy but he really is my soulmate :thumbsup2

Dawn,[/B] I think it's you, me, Princesses and Annette. :thumbsup2 (gosh I hope I didn't leave any great fab 40s out!:flower3: )

You can add me to that club -- 42 this August 1st. I spent my 40th on a DCL Western cruise, and that particular day in Grand Cayman. It was fabulous and a real day to remember. The concierge team made sure that beautiful black pearl earrings and a diamond and pearl necklace that my husband somehow smuggled on the trip were put on a plate and brought to me as my desert. It was fabulous and I'll always remember that day. :goodvibes

Good night everyone!

Mandy- What a great story!! It sounds like you 2 were really meant to be together and you are both lucky to have found eachother. I can tell from your posts that you are a real sweetie!!

You guys are evil.:rotfl:

OK, so I am going to deal with L tomorrow. I got a CM peptalk & I am ready....I want this cake, Kelly. Do you know where it came from??? Was it a GF cake?? I know a GF baker and she knows us & she makes the Mad Hatter cakes....I am going to do some name dropping to L tomorrow....I want this for Lucy & Colin's bday cake.:headache:

That rocks I also have some othet mad hatter cake pics I will post them in the a.m. for you guys

Mandy~ your story and Mine are very similar... except the whole dating alone thing :rotfl2:
Dh and I grew up in the same church (we are the same age though...) and our parents "stuck" us together!!!! Everywhere we turned we were being set up ;) luckily it worked out as my DH is my best friend but those old church ladies can be brutal when they are set on making a match :rotfl2:

oops I guess i should add that DH was not my first hubby.. I got all rebelious and went out and married a creep :rotfl2:
Ds13 is from my 1st marriage. We split the day after I had him... something about him being too busy with his girlfriend to attend the birth of his child :rolleyes1

I was very young and DUMB ... moved back in with mommy and daddy and 2 months later they were pushing my now DH at me again :rotfl: they wouldn't give it a break! He and I had always dated off and on and been really great friends. We went out to the zoo one day when my Ds was 18 months old ...NOT A DATE... just a friendly day at the zoo with my son and friend. Well my DS had a BAD case of the runs.... my DH (not DH then..) had picked him up and got a "diaper full" all over his shirt!!!! Most men would have started convulsing and faint dead away... not him he laughed about it and said he was made of stronger stuff than that... then we raced to the car to clean him up :rotfl: I said to myself WHY AM I DOING... this is the best man and daddy in the world?!?! That is when I fell head over heels completely in love with him.... funny but very true story.

DH was married before me. While in the military he married a girl he met in a bar and she turned out to be a who**. :rotfl: It lasted less than 6 months........ I asked him what he expected marrying someone he didn't know while he was sober :rotfl: Thank God for second chances, huh?

We both made a few mistakes, so I don't want to give off the impression I was this innocent little girl. I dated a guy that I adored and worshiped, problem was the feeling wasn't mutual. Being very, very young, I allowed him to manipulate me. He was a Triathlete on the US team and was full of himself. At 16 I stayed at his house frequently, sometimes for 3-4 days. Thank God I saw the light when he slapped me the first time I stood up for myself, I kicked him in the nuts and ran! That smack was the best thing that ever happened, It woke my a** up! Seriously, my life flashed before my eyes and I pictured myself dead in a field.

I totally was not even looking for a relationship when my husband stepped into my life. I just figured there was a better way and took a different approach with him. I needed time to heal. There were a lot of things I just flat out told him in writing I was not gonna do and he could move on if that was a hang up, turns out he felt the same way. I also told him I might not want to get married for a LONG time so not to even think about it. He was such a awesome man I married him ASAP! Worked out pretty good

Thanks for all the good wishes on my chemo ENDING! :cool1: :lmao: It was really horrible. Anyhow, count me in to the fab 40+ club. I am having a mid life crisis....

I love reading everyone's opinions and experiences. I married an "older man"...six years older. And I was wife #2 also. Spent almost 10 years of his 26 year USMC career with him. We have three kids. That was a great time! Now we are in south Florida wishing we were in North Carolina. Oh well.

Thanks too for the info about the buildings closest to the main building at GF. Thats important since I want to make things as easy as possible. I am a little nervous about heading to WDW, its going to be HOT and I have no hair!:scared1: I bought baseball caps and bandanas...hopefully they won't fly off on the rides!

Good morning!:)
When you say "chat" you mean it! I was following this thread for awhile and then life got crazy so I've been out of the loop. You certainly all have a lot of fun.

For those who don't know/remember me, I'm a huge GF fan and have stayed in all room levels/views/one suite over the years. I love RPC and will stay there every time I can. I've also stayed in all of the other deluxes/villas with the exception of AKL.

With that being said, I need your help! I'm helping my "little" brother (Ok, he's 39) plan a trip to WDW with his DW and two boys, 9 and 7. It is their first trip anywhere. They are both teachers and budget is always an issue. Anyway, I want to make this a special trip and help them all that I can. They are going in October during the time that room only codes have not been released the past 2 years (Oct. 15 -21).

Where should they stay???

I'm a deluxe girl all the way and would like them to experience the best since I know they will spend a fair amount of time at their resort. (Of course I'd love to see them stay at the GF but I don't know if that's realistic.) I plan to give them about 4 or 5 options (in all price ranges) and give them the pros and cons of each.

Here are my thoughts:

Pop, Swan, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian

Any opinions/thoughts?

I got them airfare last night ($299 each! actually pretty good from MSP). So that's' $1200 right there but he said they were expecting to spend a total of around $4,000 or so. He said they want to do it right but of course to me that means RPC. :rotfl:

Also, any experience out there with AAA? Where can you check for discounts? I have a membership so I can check - if there's something out there and it was worthwhile, he could get a membership as well.

I'd appreciate your input.
