OMG! :rotfl2: Well it's nice to be thought of.:rotfl: That darn bird is still thudding into the window right behind me as I type!!!! WTH?? I swear I don't know how he does it w/out killing himself. I am getting a stuffed animal right now to see if it will keep that idiot bird away from this window, too.

:thumbsup2

May be you should try antidepressants in a bird feeder so they won't be so sad and will stop trying to kill themselves! We called the crazy bird that hit our window "suicidal tweety" :rotfl:

I actually just found a receipt in my purse w/the wdw mail order number on it...let me know if you need it and I will dig it out and post the phone number.

Channing

Kelly......I am rethinking my July stay a little bit.....ugh....I know you're probably ready to hit me.:flower3:

Hi guys! Well I got Dec 24-28 in RPC. (just need to try and get Dec 23 but I figure something will come along. No such luck on a Deluxe room but I am going to just check daily...maybe something will show up.

Don't worry Channing~ I feel like I am the queen of changing my mind!:rotfl:

What are you thinking about changing??

V- that is awesome!!! I will cross my fingers you get that first night. Something will open up. There is time.:wizard:

Well I just think I am spending TOO MUCH on my rooms. :sad2: The room cost alone was creeping to $7K. It all sounds good & fun, but I think that is just too much money on ROOMS.:sad2: I also have to either buy MYW tickets because everybody but my AP expires July 1....and we always spend a fortune on dining and crapola - no matter what it's at least $400/day on extras. The limo in IL and FL and the kennel will be well over $1K....so I think we are looking at crazy costs-Second thoughts big time. I have about 13 nights in WDW (I lost track haha) and I think that's too much right there. PLUS, I am feeling really bad about kenneling my dog that long and with my check in/outs as they are and my flight times she will be kenneled over 2 wks and that makes me feel guilty. :guilty: :guilty: Double guilty.

Then, I just asked Lucy if she minds if she doesn't have her bday at WDW and she said NO.:confused3 she just doesn't want to TRAVEL on her bday. I like to be there for july 4th, Lucy and DH 's bdays are July 1 and mine is July 8.(I really don't care if we're there for MY bday either, but it's better than being at home IMO;) ) I always feel kind of bad that Jo never has her bday there....hers is over MLK weekend.

So...now what I am thinking is maybe checking into the YC July 2 or 3rd - that way I can bring Tatum to the kennel on July 1 or 2nd...then flying home late Friday night July 11 so I can pick her up Sat July 12....I am sure that's really clear & understandable, haha....It just seems so long and I am thinking it's a bit over the top. with the way I have it NOW, I have to kennel her 2 days before I leave and 2 days after I return. :guilty: I want to keep as many GF days as possible so I am mostly cutting down on YC days.

UGH!!!! I am looking at SWA flights to CHANGE again!! And I have the rooms booked, it's just a matter of rearranging a little bit. Kelly is probably reading this and shrieking.:rotfl:

:sad2:

Well send PD that Dec 9 opens up for me in RPC too! Right now I have a GV for the 1st night, but I don't want to change rooms.

Hi Gals!

Channing~ I am sure you will work something out. I totally understand. It does add up very fast. Just think-you are still planning on going in October.:)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning ladies and Mr. Mike,:)
we are staying at the GF in August :thumbsup2 and I need to make up my mind today on this. We already have plans to eat at the Brown Derby one night ( never dined there before), but now I think I want to eat somewhere else that night. Which one would you choose: Yachtsman Steakhouse, California Grill, or Narcoossee's? Thanks!:goodvibes :goodvibes

Between you and me, Channing, Kelly is probably pulling her hair out by now. :rotfl:

I hear you re: the kennel situation though. We leave late on a Friday night, so Spunky will have to go to the kennel on Friday morning. We don't return until Sunday night of the following week, but can't pick him up until Tuesday, since Monday is Labor Day and the kennel will be closed. And we both work, so we can't get the dog until Tuesday evening. Poor Spunkster. I feel bad so I am booking him a larger suite and extra swim / play sessions, but of course, that just means more $$$$. My credit card is getting quite the workout for this vacation!

Linda

O.K. guys- I just got a new puppy and already have a yorkie. Never even gave it a thought about the whole kennel thing. YUCK! It will probably cost me an arm and a leg over the holidays.

there was a thread on the DIS about the kennel at WDW and its manager Jenn and how she is rubbing people the wrong way.

Since you're talking about Kennels. What would a kennel cost for 2 weeks for 3 dogs? I have a friend with a golden retriever and 2 husky/lab muts, who is going on a cruise. She is looking for a kennel or house sitter but she is getting quotes in the $2000-$3000 for the 14 days. But she can't find one she likes (the cost is not her problem, it's the facility itself.)
Does that sound right? I told her I'd take them for 2 weeks for that kind of money...that would pay for all my Disney extras and then she would know her dogs are safe.
What do you think?

Pixie Dust I will send!:wizard:

Dec 9th is very popular for some reason. I am a DVC member and it seems like a ton of people are waiting for this night to open up....I wonder why.

I was suprised I could not get Dec 23. It seems funny that I could get Xmas Eve and Xmas and not the 23rd. I guess maybe people want to be home for the holidays but I figured many would be checking out the 23rd. Oh well..I am not too worried yet. I will just have to fly out the 24th if nothing comes available. We are already moving over to BCV for the second half of our trip and I do not want to have to move again. Hoping for the 23rd but nothing showed up today. I will be checking WDW website daily I am sure.

That sounds really expensive to begin with, but where does your friend live? And what kinds of kennels is she calling? Kennels in metro areas tend to charge more, and those with more amenities for pets also are more expensive.

We've used both kinds -- the very basic to the fancy. We have a 10-pound Yorkie and he used to stay at a kennel that charge about $20 per day. It was nice and clean and well-run, but very basic. This was 4-5 years ago. Since then, we have moved him to a "fancier" kennel. We would pay about $30 per day for the basic unit, but we upgrade him to a Queen Suite for about $35 per day. That includes two 30-minute playtime each day. We pay extra for additional play times, and also for swim time (the kennel has a pool).

There are some kennels in our area (metro DC) that quoted me $40-$50 per day for our 10-pound dog. So for two weeks, that would be around $500. So for three dogs, that would be around $1500. And kennels charge more for larger dogs, so yes, something around $2000 sounds about right. HOWEVER, kennels do tend to give really good discounts for multiple dogs. Like full price for the first dog, and 50 percent discount for additional dogs.

At $2000 for 14 days, that's $142 per day for three dogs. At $3000 for 14 days, that's $214 per day for three dogs. Even with large dogs, that last figure sounds a bit high to me, considering the possibility of a multiple-dog discount. But again, it's dependant on where your friend lives and what types of kennels she's calling.

Linda

Sheli, I think that's way over priced!! I agree with what Linda wrote.

I have a 130lb Newf. A Pooh Bear suite for her runs me $60/day. That includes two walks, but if I want to (and I always do) sign her up for "camp" - where she is out and one on one with a "camp couselor" haha...it's an extra $16/day. PLUS they charge me to feed her HER own food....and then I have to order Peanut Busters daily, and they have Sunday brunch, and "Movie time"...etc all these little extras nickle and dime me. It's a killer but I know she is taken care of. BUT they do definitely discount for more than one dog from the same family. I think your friend is getting taken. JMO. I always feel like I am :rotfl: and I probably am, but $2000 to $3000!!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: For your friend with the three dogs, I do know from what I've heard here that in home pet sitting makes the most sense for the dogs emotionally and for you financially.

I just found a kennel nearer me that starts out with doggy daycare daily and overnight visits at $33/day for the first seven nights and then drops to $25/night after. I also found a 15% off total bill coupon!!!! Just found that in the Sunday paper I finally looked thru. I am going to go and check it out in the next couple days. I like the idea of the dogs all being together to play, too. IL just recently allowed that. Until recently all dogs had to be leashed and separate from eachoterh.

V - what great news! You guys will just love it! Can't wait to hear all about it, and I will keep my fingers crossed for the 23rd. I know you'll be vigilant in checking, and I'm sure something will have to open up! :wizard:

Yes, I think that cost might give me chest pain, too. :scared: You're revised plan sounds good, though, and you're not losing those GF days - who needs the YC anyhow?! ;)

Well send PD that Dec 9 opens up for me in RPC too! Right now I have a GV for the 1st night, but I don't want to change rooms.

Gosh, those 3 are probably my very favorite restaurants in all of WDW. If I had to rank, Cali Grill would edge to the top, but then it would be a toss up between the other 2 - although Narc's might win that one due to the location. You really can't go wrong!

Dec 9th is very popular for some reason. I am a DVC member and it seems like a ton of people are waiting for this night to open up....I wonder why.

Yes, it is - I've noticed that too over on the DVC forum. We're thinking of using points we weren't anticipating having this year and staying at AKV for the 1st part of our trip in Dec. (instead of AKL CL). My waitlist came through in just one day for mid-December, while people are waiting and waiting for early Dec. dates to open up. Yikes!

Lindsay- I saw your post on the waitlist thread. I am waiting for BCV Dec 30-31. I am hoping but just not sure if it will happen. I think DVC is sold out already for New Years.
