Mare, did you say carrot cake?? :rotfl: Ask Shelli all about carrot cake at WDW!!! :rolleyes1

I think it is a crime what they are charging for those cakes now!!!! We got a cake at LTT in 2006 very similar to the $45 Lady and The Tramp cake and it was only $25 back then. And the castle cake is $25 now (before delievery and gratuity) which is highway robbery for it's size!!

That being said, I am still determined to get DS the mickey head cake at some point during our trip, but I am sure it will be $50 and we will barely touch it between the 2 of us (and no fridge at Pop so we probably won't bring it back with us either :sad2: )

OK: OFF TOPIC!!!!! Does anyone know if I can buy a bag of Kona Coffee beans at the Poly?? The Kona I am drinking today is from Gloria Jean's, but the stuff we had the Poly was so good!! But it has to be whole bean, not ground. I like to grind my own as needed :surfweb:

I read on the community board that Johnny Depp is getting married.

Steps away and covers ears for Kristins screaming...

:rotfl2: WHO would marry him?!?!?!?!:rotfl:

And...OMG...I HEAR HER SCREAMS!!!!!

I am so disgusted at my darling Craig Ferguson....he's a 46 yr old guy that married a 26 yr old. He totally disappointed me on that.:rotfl2:

Twilight has no smut.

Thank you!

What makes those books any good then?:rotfl:

Amy!
YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE LITTLE CAKE!!! You know you will!!! I always wondered how peeps did that....that's neat they keep a record.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

J/K That rumor comes out every year... ain't gonna happen. They have 2 children and several houses. They are practically married anyway.

What are you doing posting? I could have sworn I heard you screaming in agony thru my closed up house.....:rotfl: Must have been my echo because my parents are coming....YOu didn't see Kelly's post?! :rolleyes1

Oh yeah..Mare...carrot cake...no go.

Chan

Did you know that if you get married at Disney, they can pull up your file and create a minireplica of your wedding cake for an anniversary? I think it is pretty expensive and we would probably never do it, but it would be pretty cool!

Amy, maybe that's what the GF Anniversary cake is!! :confused3 It's $45. I think that mini castle cake I had was overpriced, we finished it within 5 bites! :rotfl:

I like the chocolate one too, and they said it tasted amazing. DH just isn't a chocolate LOVER, so really it would be all for show KWIM? I know he'd really enjoy a carrot cake. I have to look into this.... I think that chocolate one is a steal for $25!

Kristin....OK...now I hear the screams.....

I can get you some Kona coffee when I am there. YOu can try that merch number...but since it's "food" I don't know if they will deal with it.

Mare....great on the pic posting!!! I love the choc mommy cake!

:rotfl: :lmao:

I think you can get your choice of either Kona or a Kona blend at that coffee bar thingie next to Kona Cafe. My dad really liked the coffee there and was going to buy some coffee beans to take home, but we never got around to it

You're right! The cake was $25 still crazy for it's size!! They sell the small Mickey head cakes the same size as this one at the BW Bakery for $3.75!!! :scared1:

I agree, that Lady and Tramp cake is only worth $25 bucks! That's my limit.

The Mickey Ganache cake is $45. Chef Mickey's serves a lot of them (so I've read). The Mickey Ganache cake from GF Bakery is hand piped. It is a lot of cake for two people. We shared that mini chocolate CP cake with the family next to us. So that's a thought. Or you can ask the waitress who else is celebrating that evening and offer them some cake.

Coffee, I know coffee! :thumbsup2 Yes, you can purchase Kona coffee at the Kona Cafe. I forgot if it was ground or not? It was a decent price too like $16 or $18 which is about right for Kona.

Shel: I wanna hear the Carrot Cake story!

Okay, I'm now leaning towards that $25 chocolate cake. DH will be surprised none the less. My boys love chocolate so I know they'll be happy :)

There's breakfast in it for you if you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :worship: Remember, whole bean, not ground!!

I saw Kel's link... until it comes from People magazine or a reputable source :snooty: I won't believe it.

It cracks me up that these rumors come out every 6 months like clockwork. About a year ago there was a rumor that Vanessa was pregnant again. It stemmed from an interview where someone asked MY baby if they were going to have any more children soon and he said "Well, it IS possible..." meaning, we sleep together, so pregnancy could always happen and BAM! She was pregnant and they were getting married.:rotfl:

He was a chronic proposer in his younger days (Jennifer Grey, Winona Ryder, Sherrilyn Fenn and others) and never made it to the alter. These 2 have been together for over 10 years so I doubt it will ever happen based on his history.

I know we probably will when we go back for our anniversary :rolleyes1 (DF dosen't know we're going back yet, but he will ;) , gotta have my Disney fix!)

I always think "there's no way I would ever pay for that" about all kinds of stuff at WDW, then when we get ther...

And on the topic of JD:
pirate: = :crazy2:

(Sorry Kristin!)

Only $18? :faint: are you sure it is 100% Kona and not a blend??? We paid $43/lb at Gloria Jean's for 100% Kona...

The mickey ganache is the one I want, but I am thinking of seeing if Coral Reef can do it. We are only doing Chef Mickey's for breakfast. I doubt TRex does anything, so I will probably let him order the EXTINCTION!! (It's like The VOLCANO! at RFC) I am thinking Coral Reef on our first night (the night before his actual bday) If not, we are eating at Tony's for lunch, so maybe they can do it...

Kristin: I have a baking question for you! Have you ever made rice krispy treat lollypops? I'm thinking of making them for DS4's Valentine's Day Party at school. I'd like to dip half the hearts into chocolate mmmmmm. I'm wondering how to insert the stick and which type of stick to use? A lollypop stick or a popcicle stick? :confused3

OMG!!! I've gotten Kona coffee from Kona Hawaii for under $20 lb whole bean. :scared1: That is a rip off $43!!! They are charging a HUGE MARK UP!

Yup!

I use cookie sticks (but not the really long ones) Lolli sticks would probably be too short. I have a pan that will make 6 at a time and has the groves to insert the stick. I have a round pan and a star shaped pan.

If not, just press the krispie mix into a 15 x 10 jelly roll pan and cut them out before they get too hard. Then shove the stick in right after they are cut. Let them harden and then dip them in the chocolate (or use melted candy melts)

Kristin: I'd go with Tony's just because you've already experienced MK Bakery and know what you'll get. I've heard the Epcot cakes can be hit or miss.

Yes, but if you are in Hawaii, they don't have to ship it to the main land...

Gloria Jean's is horribly expensive anyway, but it was the only place around here that we could find a pure kona. Everything else was a blend.

Thanks! I'm going to get the sticks this weekend! :thumbsup2

I just called the GF Bakery and that chocolate ganache cake has increased to $32. Still pretty reasonable. She said most people order it with chocolate mousse filling, chocolate buttercream icing and chocolate marble ganache which sounds like chocolate heaven! :cloud9: I'm concerned that she didn't know what an "edible scroll" was. I like the way that looks on the cake. She said to place the order 30 days before I needed it.

I think I'm going to go with this one. It's their most popular so hopefully they won't mess it up. ;)

Still snowing! :headache:

That cake looks nice!

I just saw the Mickey head cake on the cake thread the lady got from Chef Mickey's. That's the one I want!!! I hope Tony's can do it :wizard:

FYI: I just saw on TV that Keebler has recalled their packages of peanut butter and crackers in response to the peanut butter recall. I just tossed ours!

Wow! That mickey cake is NICE!!! I actually like it better than the piped face. That cake has been really popular, which means the bakery knows what their doing! Might want to reconsider dinner at Chef Mickey's:confused3

Thanks for the recall! We don't have any in the apt. But I did get an email that DS4's Razor Dirt Bike Quad has been recalled!! :scared1:

I feel so out of the loop. Thursdays are my only day off during the week and I feel like I spend the whole day getting caught up...it certainly isn't a 'day off.' I've done a bazillion loads of laundry, and cleaned out my office...that was a priority so that I can get to my scrapbook table...really hoping to do some catching up with that this weekend.

Ok...before I go any further...now that we are using names...I can't stand the DD, DH, et al thing anymore. So, going forward...
My big accomplishment of the day so far, is removing the chap stick stains out of my middle daughter, Alli's soccer uniform (she's such a middle child...these things usually only happen to the middle child.) My little one, Erin, left a tube in her jeans and I washed and dried it...Alli was devastated...she has tried out for the travel soccer team for years and every year she has not made it. I've started to feel bad for the coach, who has to call her every spring and tell her that she did not make it. Well, this year she made it!!! She was the most excited kid to receive her travel uniform...and now this happens! Couldn't have ruined anything else...had to be that. Well, I tried for three day...all different things...today I finally got it out! Whew!!!
Let's see what else...we are probably not going to go to Myrtle Beach. Whew...again!!! Not that I don't want to go away with my neighbors...I just don't want to go away back to back weeks...it is 90 degrees here in July...and we're going to fly south?!?...to spend a week on the beach...we already live on the coast......and we're going to spend thousands of $$$ to do so...AAAAAND we already live next door to all these people so, we can see them all year round for FREE!!! My DH, Bobby started to change his mind when he could not get that week off this summer...and when I mentioned that I'd like to go back to FL in April...not to WDW:sad2: but, to the West coast...my parents just bought a house down there and want us to come stay with them. It's three hours away from Disney. But, it's warm and it's on the beach so, I suppose I could get by without Disney, under those conditions. I'm now on the hunt for cheap airfare...still looking. I'm finding the least expensive way to go is Thursday, after the kids get out of school and come home on the Thursday for Friday of school vacation, the following week.

Just finished lunch...leftover ham and swiss lasagna. I'd make it again but, instead of using lasagna and layering all of it. I'd use rotini or ziti and just mix everything else together...then bake all covered with swiss cheese. The recipe is on the Rachael Ray website.

Think that's it about me...going to go back and catch up with all of you.
