Good Morning

I just got back from taking DS to school and it is FREEZING COLD . At first the temperature thingy wasn't even giving a temp....it just read ICE .....then after a few minutes it read 31 degrees....way too cold for me .


Vanessa.........How horrible about the tanning....after paying all that money in the beginning they have the nerve to ask for more .....and tell you that you can't tan without it . I don't blame you for wanting to take it back . I can't believe you leave in just 34 days.....very exciting . And to be there over Christmas.....how fun that will be .



Kristin......When's your big departure day ? Lucky you to be getting out of this cold weather for awhile .

Vanessa: I would totally take that lotion back . They should have told you from the beginning that you needed it, and why on Earth should it cost $170? What's it made of, gold? I would have done the same as you and bought it to start with, though as I would have been too embarassed not to as well . Take it back for sure, though. The allergy story is good . If they ask to see the rash tell them it is somewhere you don't show the public What a rip off!

Have any of you ever tried to order something at the Grand Floridian Cafe that is not on the menu, or that they usually don't serve at their restaurant? I want my dad try Tonga Toast, I may ask at the podium and if they say no, then we will go over to Kona one of our mornings. I didn't know if anyone has every had any luck with something like this. Thanks-Lisa.

Lisa, I was told a while back a GF CM that the GF Cafe will make WHATEVER you want. He said to call the night before if possible or an hour or so in the morning in advance. But....who knows. I never actually tried it. You mihght want to have your Kona ADR just in case.

K- You are way to freakin organized. Why don't you bring your little Martha self down here and help me finish my MESS of Xmas stuff. I did good in the beginning but I know have 1/2 my garland hanging off my stairway, boxes still everywhere and no lights outside yet. Now I know why I wanted to be gone this Christmas! But please do not stop in telling us how organized you are because at least it keeps me motivated!

Life is stressful so I am grumpy! Good news is some of my custom outfits are shipping out today! and I think my trip is 34 days away. (and if all goes well I will be on that plane.)

Oh I have a tanning story for you. Decide that I have very little time to tan so I am going to try some of those Ultra Bronze beds where you tan 3 times a month and that is it. So $270 later I have 9 sessions. (way pricey for me) and they give me two little things of lotion for the firs two sessions. I go on Monday for my third session and they tell me I now have to buy lotion or I cannot tan. I tell them to give me whatever they have that does not stink. They hand me this bottle and the lady then says that will be $170.00 . I was too embarassed to say I did not want it so I wrote a check. WOW do I feel terrible about that. I feel like taking it back tonight and telling them that I broke out in a rash or something. Is that bad? What a rip off!

And we were on the fence...and then they "scared" Lucy into it by telling her if she didn't do it now her teeth would shift and she'd have a mess to deal with later in life!! BS!! And then I was like FRANTICALLY calling Colin to say WHAT SHOULD I DO?? When I found out it's COSMETIC they were going to PUT THEM ON HER TEETH AT THAT TIME!!!!...and he OF COURSE as usual did NOT answer my cell call!!!! SO....He's paying. I was numb after writing that check. I even drove home wrong!

Vanessa, I hope things are improving over there on the home & family front. I am sending good thoughts and prayers your way. You really need this trip.

IT really ticked me off!!! Because her teeth are perfect!! It is the most obnoxious thing!!! And she DIDN"T WANT THEM until they scared her! And then I'd look mean if I didn't cough up the money.

Yes...have to be very VERY careful with that smile. No driving off cliffs or bridges while LUcy is with me.

OMG!! YOu are just about 2 months til your wedding!! How exciting!! And now with the holidays time will just FLY BY!! I hope it's all coming together and the guests have their acts together.

Morning DH is much better but took another day off to recover......no one else has been sick, YAY!

BTW: Having him home to see how I run this place has been stressful.....I am getting all kind of "mabey things would be smoother if you did this instead" comments I finally had to tell him that things would be much smoother if he would go back to bed. We are such opposites.....He is major organized and can stay on track and I am major ADD (really, on Ritalin for ever as a kid and teen) and act scatter brained and can not stay in task! LOL!

Oh if only......

We men just want to be LOVED and given a little bit of home made chicken soup.

Let me tell you a secret about NY weather in the winter....at least in my borough...
its always below freezing UNTIL the wet weather heads our way and then the temperature gets above freezing ...so all we get is rain and then when the rain stops the temps go back down to freezing...
I promise this will happen again this year.

You sound like my kids about wanting snow, they think that it should snow on Christmas morning (becasue every Christmas book ever has snowy scenes) and ask me all the time when it will....... now that it has been cold again they are asking and I have to explain why can't it snow in FL. Poor kids, I finally told em' Jesus never saw snow and Christmas is his birthday! LOL!

Since I hate going into the City as well (Chicago in my case) I would TOTALLY make an exception for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course, I am a traditionalist and love Bing and Danny, but that would be fun!!!

(Slightly OT, has anyone ever picked up on that line in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, where Clark comments that this is going to be the "Happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap danced with Danny Kaye!!!" That is another one of my all time Christmas favs!!! A Christmas Story too!!!)

I never even heard of A Christmas Story till a few years ago and we saw it on tv and I love it! We got the DVD and have watched it probably 10 times now! It is now a yearly must watch along with A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th, NL!

Channing- Thanks for the well wishes. I have not said anything on here yet but my father in law had a heart attack on Monday evening. He is doing better and should come home on Thurs. Just one more of life's obstacles...just did not happen at a very good time. OH well...one day at a time is my new motto!

$5400 braces...that totally stinks. I know it happens though. You cannot believe anyone these days.

Mandy- DH and I do not do well home together at all. Good thing he works all the time...we would definately be divorced.

Seriously, I am so SICK of him doing freaky Tim Burton movies!!! That pic is like a cross between Willy Wonka and Sweeney Todd and I DO NOT LIKE IT!!! (For those of you wondering what the heck THAT is, it's Johnny Depp in full costume as the Madd Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland )

As for George Clooney, I will take a pass. I liked him a lot better when he was just an actor and not a high and mighty political activist. It's great that he cares so passionately, I just don't need to hear about it ALL THE TIME!!! And get your butt back to ER for the final season and pay homage to where it all began, you ingrate!!!! (Sorry, really strong feelings on this!!)

Anyway, speaking of sick, DS is home with me today. Full head cold, fever, body aches etc. He looks so pitiful laying on the couch with his blanket watching the Wonder Pets. I may need to pull out some Christmas DVD's and the hot cocoa today! We have Rudolph, Charlie Brown etc. And when all else fails, I can turn to the WDW tape with all the holiday shows to get in the mood!! (16 days!!!!! )

V- about the lotion!!!!! I would take it back and ask them why they never told you when you first purchased the expensive package that the lotion was a must. I'm with Mandy, stick with the self tanner. I am finishing week 1 of Jergen's Natural Glow (for fair skin) Next week I will move onto light to medium and then save the dark for the week we leave. (Although this time I am bringing it with!! In May, I swear I came back paler than when I left!! Who says Florida sun is strong! )

Mandy- that is too funny about DH wanting to help! Mine knows better than to open his big mouth!! He learned early on in our marriage that if he thinks he can do it better, then the job is his!!!

I had a list a mile long of errands to run today, but I guess that isn't going to happen. I am sure I will be back later to chat!

I just hope we can purge this nastiness completely before we go. I hate head colds!!! I really thought he was going to escape it, but he slept HORRIBLE last night. And I got one look at him this AM and knew it was over. He usually bounces back quickly though, so hopefully this won't be the exception.

My gift basket is done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a Big Santa Mickey, the Christmas Ears with his name, an ornament with his name and a Christmas Picture Frame (hiding behind Mickey). It ended up $121 with tax and delivery, but cute nonetheless. I am sure he will be thrilled! I can't wait to see the ornament in person!! It was done at Days of Christmas in DTD and looks awesome in the picture!!!
