but I'm still here. DH and I went off Atkins for our WDW vacation in July. I only gained 4 lbs on vacation, but it took a while to get back on track once home. I think I ended up gaining a total of 8 lbs before I started losing again, but I have lost it all and another 2 lbs to boot! I started at 193 lbs and am now 140 lbs. (53 lbs lost overall!!) I really don't remember myself that much heavier, but when I brought my boys to the first day of school yesterday other parents sure noticed. I was in a size 18 on the first day of school last year and easily fit into size 10 this year. I have 5 more lbs to lose to reach my original goal of 135 lbs, but I still have areas of my body that I am not happy with so I may need to reset my goal when I reach my first one. My advice to all of you out there is not to give up. The weight goes fast in the beginning, but after awhile you fight for every lb you lose. I have gone up to six weeks without losing a single lb, but eventually the scale will move again. I will reach my goal, but I am prepared for it to take a while longer. It is definately worth all my efforts. My sister in law tried south beach (again). She did it for 2 weeks and lost 4 lbs. I thought that was a good start, but she quit because she said it was too much work for so little loss. I didn't say anything to her, but what did she expect. It took her years to put on the weight it will probably take years to take it off. So for all of you out there questioning what you are doing, stay upbeat, set realistic goals and hang in there. We can all do it. I am certainly proof of that. My DH has been doing Atkins with me all along and he has lost 45 lbs and wants to lose another 15. I think that the secret to our success it that we don't sabotage each other. We eat together and share in the success together. Finding a partner, especially one in you house is definately a good move. Thanks to all of you for listening to my ramblings and I wish you all great success. Now I will have to change my clippie.

Welcome back!

I'm in the same boat - haven't posted awhile and I'm needing to get back on track.

All the best to you!

Is it the beginning of the school year that is bringing us all out?

I haven't been around for a long time either, but put a goal of Sept 1st to get back down to business!

So I'm here! The WISH really helped me keep on track!

It's so nice to have you guys posting with us again.

my3princes - I really appreciate your advice. Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom, especially the part about weight loss slowing down. When I first started South Beach I was losing like gang busters. I lost 22 pounds the first month and was thrilled. Each week I was down 2 or 3 pounds and it was great. Today completed my 9th month and my weight loss has definitely slowed down and I'm fighting for every pound (and sometimes just a 1/2 pound) lost. I'm losing about 1 pound per week and was getting a bit discouraged.

You are so right when you mentioned that this weight didn't come on overnight and we're not going to lose it all overnight either. I've lost close to 80 pounds and that's a big accomplishment. It may take me another nine months to get to goal and I'm trying to be okay with that. My goal actually isn't to just reach goal but to be able to maintain my loss. I don't ever want to go back where I was before.

Anyway, I wanted to say thanks for saying just what I needed to hear at just the right time. I look forward to getting to know you and our other returning WISHers! :sunny:

Welcome Back! You have done so great and I wish you the best of luck as you try to get off those last few pounds - you can do it!! :hyper:
