Have you stayed in a DVC Resort on Opening Day?

I just booked a stay for the Poly Tower arriving on the 17th. We have multiple dvc contracts, but have never been able to book an opening day stay. Historically, has there been anything special at the resorts for that? I would like to go to MVMCP on the 17th, but don’t want to miss any possible resort festivities. Thanks!

Did the VDH opening stay. There was an opening ceremony in the morning. Had special weekend room key cards. There was a gift package in the room. It was a fun experience. 4 night stay garden duo studio. Just be prepared for not everything working properly or being completely finished at opening.

I stayed at BLT opening day. When I got to my villa and started unpacking, I kept hearing a faint “beep” every so often. It was really getting on my nerves. I was going around and checking everything I could think of, and finally called for Maintenance to come and figure it out. It turned out someone had stopped the dishwasher incorrectly, and it needed to be reset. I felt stupid for not being able to fix it on my own.

I remember they had us in a separate line in the lobby because they didn’t allow access to the villas until a specific time, IIRC around 10:30 or so. I was the second person in line, and the person ahead of me was another DISer!

The closest I’ve come is being the 2nd guest in a Boardwalk View studio after hard refurb
