Have you sold your DVC?

For financial reasons I am considering selling our DVC. Has any one ever done this? I know it will be difficult, but I figure I can always repurchase. Does any one have a guess how long it might take to sell ? Thanks for your input...trust me this will be done as a last resort.

I just sold a 500 point contract at BWV. It took about 2 weeks. I thought that would be a hard one to sell because of the cost, but it didn't. Good luck.

I just sold a 100 point contract at OKW in one day. I looked at all the other resales and priced it the same. Costs to me were the commision which was ($740) 10% and a 200 dollar transfer fee paid to Disney. Good luck with your decision.

We just sold 25 points ourselves, and they sold the first day I put them on the tug website.

We have sold a contract. How long it takes depends on all the same factors that go into buying -- contract size, points status, price, resort, market conditions, seller's needs and the like. Some contracts never make it to the listings, others take several months. Probably best to call the brokers and ask them about your situation. We have used the Timeshare Store for two purchases and our sale. Have been very happy with their guidance and performance.

My sense of the market is generally that BCV and VWL are smaller and seem to be sought after resorts so they might go faster than others. Small to mid-size contracts might go faster than large contracts. Contracts with current and/or banked pooints are more desired than stripped contracts (even with appropriate price adjustments).

I just bought points and I find that they sell very fast. Depending on the location of the resort and the amount of points. I found that the smaller amounts sell more quickly, but they are all in demand. We just bought a small amount, but am sure will be looking for more soon. Good luck!

Depending on when you bought it, maybe you should reconsider changing your screen name! :goodvibes

I would stop eating before I would sell my DVC!!!!!!!

I can live on peanut butter sandwiches if I need to.
I guess serious medical issues could make me sell, but not much else that I can think of off the top of my head.

Thank you everyone for replies. I am currently raising cash for a large building project. Trust me, as I mentioned in my post, selling is my last option, but I had a financial person tell me that selling DVC is almost impossible, I thought they might be wrong.
Thanks for all the support!
Terri

I have not yet, and do not plan to sell any of my DVC contracts. :sad2:

Ok, I have seen this "tug" website posted before. What is it? Can someone please PM me? Thanks! :flower:

Probably thinking DVC is just another timeshare - which are almost impossible to sell!

I would rent my points and cover my maintenance fees for a year or two if possible instead of selling. But, I am sure you can sell. Your idea of re-purchasing is going to cost you though (both commission for selling and the increases in price that happen often).

Good luck!!!

Sold it before it even listed, and for SIGNIFICANTLY more than we paid originally.

But ... as planned, we turned right around and bought back in. So I didn't totally take leave of my senses.

I do believe the size of the contract has a lot to do with the ease of sale, tho.

I know some people that sold them on E bay and they sold very easily with very little hassle. You also don't pay comission that way.

We had friends who were downsized. they sold 1/2 their points (300) in one week full price through the timeshare store. Smooth as silk.
:cheer2:

That's what I was thinking too. I really appericate all the other posters sharing their experiences, it is nice to hear other's comments, and various options they used. Please do not PM me with offers to buy, that was not my intention of the thread. Thanks :sunny:

For those of you that have sold, how much is the ROFR fee and is it correct that the transfer fee is $200. Unfortunately, I have to sell and have listed an today. I called DVC for information and they sent me a letter that had very little information.
