Have you "slowed" down?

Now that we've finally purchased DVC we seem to be planning a lot of trips. First, we are going this Dec. Then my DH wants to go back for a week next March for spring training (he's so excited!). Then we might come back in Nov. 2004 for the F&W Fest. Then we plan to slow down. Back to a trip probably every year to 18 mos., maybe longer.

Did any of you ever go frequently your first year or two but now have cut back? Or will we just get more addicted and have to go all the time?

Thanks!

We have been member since Dec. 93 and we have taken pretty much one trip a year, faithfully. The only exception was we missed 95 due to the birth of my son and our moving.. That was sad, but we made up for it in 97 with two trips, one in Dec. and one in the summer. Sounds like a great year of Disney memories in your future. Have a wonderful time.

We go more now. After many addons we now have plenty of points and try to take twice as many trips as we did early on. We just can't get enough points or WDW time. A few trades along the way have added nice changes, but we pick DVC over most. There are not many places that are as nice a WDW when you have children.

Nope. We find ourselves taking advantage of add-ons and saving up to bring larger family groups to the resorts.

Since joining in Dec 2001 - we are going more often - we went 2x last year and this year we are going in March BWV studio - just DH and me, June for 8nights with extended family at OKW 2 bdrm and in Dec for 7nocs at OKW 1bdrm. 3 trips a year, I think this will be our routine for a while .:D

We stayed off-site in 8/00 and bought DVC in 10/00. We banked 00, and cruised 01 with borrowed points from 02 - no WDW in 02 (SC instead). I decided not to borrow again until I have made numerous trips and can enjoy our DVC accomodations a couple of times. Bought add-on and BCV in '02 and banked. Cruising 7/03 and staying at OKW first time. I am also going this Easter break but staying at ASMo. first time. I can say that we are now just starting to use it so we won't be slowing down just yet.;)

Since my oldest is now in 6th grade we find it harder to go from Sept-June (school year) and take 2 weeks (more like 16 days!) in the summer.

We also travel with her cheerleading group to FL for a long weekend during the year......next month to US/IOA!! That way I get a quick fix!!!

We need to add on so we can stay during the weekend in between our 2 weeks now that my baby is no longer under 3!!! Those weekend points in a 2 BR get ya!!!

Once a year works good for us and gives us something to look forward to...............I wish it were more though.........I can never get enough!!!

We joined in early 1997(OKW), have added on 3 times since then and bought into BCV last year. We have averged about three trips a year and will do so again this year.

We are not slowing down. Since our first trip as DVC we've tried to manage two trips a yaar, Nov and March. Nov every other year with our kids and grandkids and March just DH and me. We have our fingers crossed on a BWV add on so we can bring friends on our Mar trip.

We went 5 times the year before we bought DVC - that is what made DVC a good choice. Since buying DVC, we have not gone 5 times - usually doing 3-4 times (a couple long weekends and couple 1 week trips). At some point we may slow down, but right now we enjoy it too much.

Members since 1991. Still making the annual pilgrimage to Mouse Mecca for at least two weeks a year. 7 DCL cruises, Hawaii exchange, DL CA exchange, Safari exchange, and planning for 2004 and 2005 (return to Africa for our 25th Anniversary).

I think planning and playing with your points is half the fun.

Looking forward to moving to FL (4 years away) where we will be closer to take advantage of shorter stays during special event. Also we will have better access to DCL. No more full days of flying to the Mouse.

We haven't slowed down. Before DVC, we only went once a year; since joining, we average 3x a year. We buy AP's & look for cheap airfare. We usually do Memorial Day long weekend, end of August & the infamous NJ week.

We haven't slowed down, in fact it's just the opposite! We began going to Florida before our kids were born in 1976, so they grew up at Disney, it's home to them. We bought our first DVC in 1997 for vacationing at spring break, then added on to take care of summer. Then bought another contract for larger accommodations, then added on for Christmas. We don't do the parks much anymore, but there are so many other activities to do in Florida! We just enjoy the warmth, sunshine, and peace and quiet of the resorts. Now we are beginning to move toward larger family groups, so we may need more points, and are on the waitlist for another add-on.:p

Thanks for all the replies! I guess we may not be slowing down after all!!

We have not slowed down at all!! If fact now that we are retired we have been doing at least 3 trips a year! We spend the winters in Tampa so it's just a hop skip and jump to OKW resort for a few days of magic!!! We use to go down twice a year before retirement, but we are making up for lost time now!!!!!!

We must be on the same wave length as you guys. We also plan on moving south to Florida( North or South Carolina also) in 4-5 years after we retire. Then we never have t worry about airfares, rental cars, length of stays at DVC.We also plan on cruising

a lot more.
We go at least 2 times a year(DVC) for the current time. But very much looking forward to going more often in retirement.

A Florida move sounds wonderful, best wishes with that.

Perhaps it'll be time to save for a European or African trip....

I want to go more often ( wishful dreaming ) . That's like saying I got too much Disney, and that can never happen.

loveswdw, whatever you do don't buy annual passes. The are like a drug, they make you want more and more disney! If you think about it the most expensive part of the trip is lodging and passes to the park. With APs and points these things mean you can take a pretty inexpensive trip. SO beware of APs!!!

We have added trips each year but will probably settle in to a routine of three trips a year- May,Oct/Nov, and Dec. We drive down so that expense isn't too high, we buy AP's so our per trip ticket cost is very low. We don't feel as though we have to do everything, every time so we can relax and don't spend as much. We are very chosey about what soverneres(sp) we buy now. I know three trips a year is more costly then just one, but our cost per day is much lower by going more often.
