Have you "slowed" down?

We haven't slowed down very much!!! We have been DVC members since 1996. And have done 3 add ons since then. The first 5 years we we made 3 trips a year. Our DS wasn't in school yet. The past 2 years we have gone 2 times a year. And this year we have 2 trips booked. June for 11 days & November for 7 days.

In the past we used to purchase Annual passes and try to get 3 trips out of the passes.

My DS & I never get tired of WDW. My DH would be happy going once a year. I would love to go more than twice a year!!!!

Actually I went 3 times my first year (well 2 with DVC) and tried to go last year but cancelled at thelast minute and couldnt make it. I am itching though to go again soon.

Well, we are up to going twice a year. I am looking to sneak a trip in between scheduled visits, but my wife will not fly. This makes a short trip too difficult.

BounceyOne-- thanks for the advice! We are actually talking about buying APs for this year. We are going in Dec. then planning for March then probably F&W Fest so I thought APs would be the best way to go!

I'll take your warning into consideration!

Thanks!

We keep telling ourselves we will slow down. But every year our kids ask "When are we going to Disney World again?" - so we keep going back every year. Honestly, when I ask them "Would you rather go to Avalon (NJ) or Disney World this year - and we can only do one" they always want Disney. Not that I complain. ..

Nick you "stole" my favorite smilie;) and that heli smilie is a riot. Haven't seen that one yet. LOL

When we originally bought in 99 we thought we would only be staying in the summer and maybe a trip now and then. No more cash trips. We use all our points in the summer but now with more free time to travel along with "little" things like MNSSHP/Food and Wine Festival, AP events, MVMCP, Member cruises, etc. Disneyitis appears.

Yes, my wife did at one time fly. She was always a little nervous, but after 9/11 she said "that's it". :(

When we purchased we figured once every two years for 2 and 1/2 weeks. Not using weekends we would have plenty of points and some left over. Our first trip in was in 99 the next 2000, then 2001. In also sent my mother in spring of 99. At this point I was only using borrowed points , by the way I added on at Vero in 99 also. So it has been almost 2 years without a trip home to Disney. To survive I have kept very busy teaching day school, night school and tutoring after school. Working summer upward bound classes, I took a accounting class last summer. On the weekends last summer we built a 2-story garage. Currently, we are remodeling the kitchen/dining room, where we striped the floor to the ground, replaced the floor completely, wiring in walls, walls, cabenets, countertops, ect. That project is still in progress. The last thing on the list is to reroof the roof of the house with metal roofing. If I do not go to moms this weekend, thats where I will be.

I will really need the trip to Florida in May after this year. It would have been so much easier to go last year than to keep me so busy all year.

We have been members for just a little over a year so I will answer your question in a little different way. We had been to WDW 3 times prior to DVC purchase. All 3 of those trips were commando tours. Our 4th trip was a lot more slowed down and relaxed, reason being we knew we were coming back year after year for 40 more.

We own enuff pts to make 2 trips a year but right now we choose to go once a year(for now anyway). I like your DH am looking forward to going to spring training some upcoming March to see my all time favorite the Braves( I have been a fan since the Hammerin' Hank days). That is what is so cool about WDW it is ever changing and always adding new things to see and do. By the way we cant wait to take that first trip on Mission: Space!

Tigger1-- I know where you are coming from! We are "almost" finished with our dining room remodel. We did the exact same thing. Gutted EVERYTHING!! The floor was sagging terribly so we sistered the floor joists, put down a new subfloor, then had hardwood floor put in. The walls were old plaster and lathe. So down it came, in went the new wiring and up went the drywall. We've done a ton more (new staircase from scratch! That was fun!). Once we get the dining room done its onto the upstairs room! We live in what they call a 1-1/2 story so we basically just have a big room upstairs.

The trials and tribulations of living in a house that's over 100 years old!! But, I look around and think, "You know... my house will probably still be standing in another 100 years. Lots of the new construction homes will not be." ;)

So, needless to say, our Dec. trip can't get here soon enough!

Thanks everybody for all the replies!!

jimmytammy-- My DH likes the Braves but he's a HUGE NYY fan. So, we'll probably being taking some day trips to Tampa while also seeing the Braves at WWSC. I'm thinking... great... baseball everyday! No, I'm really happy that he's so excited about a trip!

And, he too, is chomping at the bit to ride Mission: Space. Hopefully it will be open by Dec.! You just never know at WDW!

Jimmytammy--- Also see by your countdown timer that you will probably be at WDW the same time we will be. We are arriving on Dec. 6th. Hope you all have a great trip!!

Yes you do know what I have been through.

We also have a 1 1/2 story. the upstairs is divided ito 2 rooms and a rr though. After Florida, I hope to install 2 new windows upstairs and do a little painting. We already have the material, we just need the time.

Hey Lisa D,
Looks like you are from my area!!! We live in Kutztown, PA and we always end up going to Disney World instead of the Jersey shore, also.

We actually spend less money going to Disney World than we would if we vacationed at the Jersey Shore. So it is a no brainer for us.

We do however have a few of our friends ask us why we always go to Disney and how can you afford to go all the time? I then explain the DVC to them and tell them that we probably spend less going to Disney every year than they do going to the Shore each year. They find that hard to believe.

Our next trip is June and I can not wait!!! We are going the day after our son gets out of school.
