Have you OR would you split your stay?

We have split our stays and while DH doesn't like it - I do. One time we did it because of AP rates. The other time, I just wanted to try the Poly. (glad I didn't stay there the whole week, it wasn't my favorite). This year, it's 5 nites at BC and the last 3 at GF. My DD really wants to go back there, but I want to stay at an Epcot resort.

It does make me keep most of our stuff neater! I pack up the night before. The next morning, we check-out and head for a park. When we arrive at our new resort, we check-in.

Since you are staying for 2 weeks, I'm sure you'll have to do laundry. When we split our stay, I pack a separate suitcase of just clothes for the second resort (this time it's August, so it's all summer clothes). I won't open that suitcase while we are at BC.

Have fun!

We do it every stay. We have stayed at RPR and HRH. Yes you will have to move your own luggage but its easy as well.
We love the Universal resorts and FOTL. We usually use a towncar service for our round trips to and from the airport and to Universal/Disney.

We are trying a split stay. This July will be do 3 nights at POR and then 7 nights at the Poly. It is our 2nd Disney trip and first time at both of these resorts. I don't think we will mind the move. Just planning on packing a bag with swim suits and extra clothes just in case we have to wait for a room. At least this way we get to experience both resorts.

I agree...to each his own. We do not like switching because, as others have posted, we also find it a hassle. However, one word of warning: make sure you call bell services at least an hour before you actually want to leave your room in the morning. Calling the night before you check out of resort #1 is even better. The first, and last, time we switched resorts, mid-vacation, we called when we were ready to leave. Bell services informed us that they would be up in 45 minutes. No prob, I told them, we'll just leave our bags here and you can bring them to our resort #2 when you get around to it. Sorry, the bellman said, you must stay with your bags until we come and pick them up...in 45 minutes. We ended up taking them ourselves and were forced to go ahead and checkin to #2 resort that morning, instead of just heading to the parks and meeting up with our bags later. Obviously, it took more time that we wanted to give up that morning, but we learned a good lesson. Hope it helps! ::MickeyMo

We are splitting our stay between POR and BC. We have decided that when it comes to moving our luggage, we will transport it ourselves. We plan on using a taxi to travel from POR to BC. while waiting for our room to become ready, we will minigolf at Fantasia Gardens, eat at Beaches and Cream and perhaps enjoy a swim at Stormalong Bay. Bell Services will store our luggage at BC until our room is ready and Bellservices at POR will pick it up from our room and hhold it until our taxi arrives. Sounds pretty simple to me.

We have not ever split our stay but are when we go in August....3 nights at Pop and 5 nights at Polynesian...I agree that it might be a bit of a pain to fold up all the clothes...but on vacation, who cares....I really think it will be OK....

I am headed to Disney in Sept for 6 nights at POR. I never have given much thought about switching resorts until I read this. We choose POR b/c it is where we spent our Honeymoon last year, and we loved it. I was kind of afraid to try something else, just in case, it wasn't what we wanted. However, one resort I would love to try is the POLY. We went the Luau Dinner Show and the atmosphere at that resort seems amazaing. Okay, so after my long rambling- is it really worth it to change? I don't think packing up would be too much of a hassle- I just wouldn't fully unpack. Also, if we did this, I would proably split it down the middle which would have us leaving POR for POLY on our anniversary- which I was thinking of trying out Ohana anyway. Any suggestions?

I don't think the repacking would be a hassle. I usually put the folded clothes in the drawer whenever we arrive on any vacation. So what's the hassle, putting them back in the suitcase?

I would just love to experience both resorts. I think I'm definately going to set up my budget for this. It would seem like 2 vacations and give us a chance to figure out which resort we really like...

I like the Poly and Ohana's is VERY good, don't get me wroing - I just can't imagine going there for my anniversary. It is very loud, lots of hula hoops, coconut races around the restaurant, kids running back and forth. I love it and it does keep 3 yr old dd quite entertained but personally I would never go there for a romantic anniversary dinner. I would say try POLY to stay but maybe head over via monorail to Cailifornia Grill at CR or Narcosee's at GF. If you do switch I would probably spend more time at AK and MGM in the beginning since you can do monorail for MK and Epcot while at the Poly.

We split our stay on the vast majority of our trips, and we love doing it. We enjoy experiencing different resorts on the same trip. We think it’s both fun to see what each has to offer and nice since they have different transportation methods. We don’t mind re-packing our stuff, but if you don’t want to have to do that, then you probably shouldn’t split your stay. Also, be aware that you could potentially be without a room for a few hours of the day since checkout of your first resort is at 11:00 am, and check-in at your new resort is at 3:00 pm. Disney will store your luggage for you, though we always move ourselves since we have a car. I would advise doing the Polynesian for the second half of the trip so that you don’t have to go from a monorail resort with a larger room to the CSR. Enjoy your 2 weeks at the World!

We have not split our stays between 2 resorts but I would totally say go for it if you will be there 8 or more days-that way you can split it with stays of atleast 4 days at each. I dont see the point of moving to only stay somewhere for just 2 days. Have a greatb trip!

Since I couldn't make up my mind for this trip I let my Mom chose.. she sort of had to go off what I told her and we're staying at Pop 3 nights then moving to AKL for 4 nights.

the other option was any of hte moderates for the full week. She loves animals though and I think she'll really enjoy the AKL. It'll be her first trip to disney ever. We went last year with my in laws.

I've switched resorts many times. We are even doing it for our 4 night stay in September because we are getting in late and why spend the money for the 14th floor at CR. One night at AS and then moving to CR. It's easy but I probably wouldn't do it if I was travelling with kids.

On our trip last fall we split 4 nights at CBR with 4 nights at AKL. It was great and we lucked out with our AKL room being ready at 10:30am! I'm planning a split stay for my next trip, but I just can't decide which resort I should split with AKL (I really fell in love with it last fall!).
