Have you had to cancel FW plans?

That gets you unlimited front of the line passes!!!

Just rent her a wheel chair for the parks
Not any more, at least on our April trip. My DMIL has a scooter and doesn't walk very well, although she didn't have to wait in the regular line they still made her wait until we got to the front.

We haven't canceled any trips but it looks like our next March trip will be at DVC and not FW, unless diesel prices drop in the next six months.

Not this year but the cost of fuel (already at $3.75 here....almost double what it was last year) is really starting to hurt. I filled up Wednesday and Thursday I heard the price was going from 3.49 to 3.75 so I stopped and filled up again. One day's round trip from home->work->school to pick up son->home is now avg >$10 a trip. Factor in that round trip to Orlando will cost double this year and Disney keeps jumping prices and limiting discounts; it's starting to hurt.

If something doesn't happen with gas prices soon to get them back to normal levels, it's going to start hurting a lot of people. Honestly I don't see how people who only make around min. wage are able to do anything. I make pretty decent for my area and even I am really starting to limit trips to town unless I just really need something. If gas prices double again next year, I can honestly say I won't be seeing Mickey again for a while. :sad2: :scared:

well I bought a HUGE tent for camping at the Fort this Christmas(7 in the TT was too much lol)....it may be used for future trips to to cut cost in the future but I'll keep going as long as possible...addictions are tough to beat huh? lol:rotfl2:

Well, DH and I were just talking about booking a room at the SOG for our Oct. trip.

I just saw on the SOG thread that they don't have free parking at the parks anymore. Policy just changed a couple of weeks ago. You can park for free at MK parking but only because you have to go through there to get to SoG.

Really, hmm. We usually use the buses, but the last time DH's chair didn't fit on their lifts so we had to use a different bus that they had available. Only thing was we had to call about 1/2 hour before we were going to leave a park. That really was a pain, and when we were at AK, we called, and the bus never came. We ended up taking a Disney bus to the TTC, monorail to the Poly and walking from there. I wasn't happy. One of the many reasons I like the fort better. Anyway, I had said if we end up at the SOG we would drive ourselves, but if we have to pay to park.....praying for lower gas prices.

Gas prices are crazy. I am afraid to see what they will be when we go to the Fort in December. Maybe somehow they will go down. Not looking good though. Right now regular gas here is $3.59. Glad we decided to go with gas instead of diesel.

So we will probably do our camping trips all to the same close by campground we have been going to and not do the ones a little further away due to the gas prices. I do not plan on canceling our Fort trip since we only get there once a year.

We have booked a trip for the end of June to Hillsborough River State Park. This helps ease the pain of not making it to FW. It is also much closer to home and only $20 a night.

We just canceled 2 days off our memorial day trip..We will arrive on the 24th instead of the 20th May..

HRSP is a very nice place, Tony!!! Watch out for the raccoons though! They will steal you blind in a heart beat!!!

Maybe time to make some coon skin caps?!
We have been several times before, and always had a good time. Going to have to try the pancake breakfast this trip. It won't be TE and Mickey waffles, but who knows!!!!

We have actually modified our plans because of the gas prices adding a few days to our trip because I am afraid if it keeps going up then next year we may not be able to afford to do our annual Disney trip. May have to do a trip closer to home. I would hate for next year to come and we can't go then I wish we had spent a little more time there this year. So now I will be covered. Just in case. ;)

is that the one off of I-4? $20 a night is a good price. I'm still going to SANLan in lakeland someday to check it out.

I think we are going to have to cancel our December trip to the Fort. It breaks my heart, but I don't think it can be helped.

We will probably cancel our December too but we're still going in October. I got a little ressie happy this year. We're going in June, October, December, and in March. I need to spread it out a bit so I may cancel this December and go for December of 2009.

There are signs for it at exit 10, I-4. It is on 301. Price is $20 plus tax. They have an awesome pool, the river, and some nice hiking too.

Sanlan is a very nice place, too. A few of our church's associate members winter there and love it. We've never stayed at Sanlan, but I've been in the park, and while it's not FtW, it would be good for a weekend get-away.

The other place in Polk County that is a hoot to go to is River Ranch. They have lots of activities, including entertainment at the on property saloon on Saturday nites, horseback riding, trap & skeet range, airboat rides, hayrides, swimming pool, etc.... They used to have a rodeo on Saturday nites...don't know if that's still going on.

IIRC... Sanlan is about $25-30/nite & River Ranch is about $45-50 a nite. You can bring your golf cart to either one.

I was at River Ranch last Memorial day we had a great time, but it is a weekend trip nothing is open mon-thur. They have a rodeo every sat night. I had to cancel my Memorial Day trip to FW I can justify spending $1000.00 for 4 night right now. I'm holding on to hope that i can still make it for 4 of July but it's not looking good, but there is lot's of time thing my change.:sad1:

I have not heard of either of these places. Sounds like they are worth checking out! Most of my experience with Polk County has been traveling to or from WDW.
