We canceled our weekend plans for the Fort. Just too much to do getting the house ready for us all to move into, wedding expenses, etc. When I went to our DisCampers Calender to remove my name, it seems like the calender was missing lots of names that had been there before.

Have others of us been forced to cancel FW trips for one reason or another???? Besides life just getting in the way, there is the economy, cost of fuel, etc.

Well, I might be taking my name off the Nov 29th and 30th due to the fact that I have been trying for months to add to those dates to no avail. Plus, now I think we are going to Vegas for Christmas with the family, so I may have to save that money anyway. I'll make a decision when the 2009 dates are released for sure.

We are trying really hard to not let the current cost of fuel change our family vacation plans. We have not cancelled any FW trips....BUT, we *have* made changes in our everyday way of living. We drive the vehicle that gets the best gas mileage, we take weekend camping trips close to home. We don't go on as many "Sunday drives" etc.

Had to cancel once because our well broke. Big expense! Everyone was very unhappy, but we went the following year to make up for it. ;)

We had to cancel this past Easter because "snow days" ate up our Easter vacation. (DH and I are teachers, we didn't lose as much as our children did) I did cancel as soon as I knew for sure, so hopefully something good could come out of our unfortunate situation for someone else!

We are thinking of cancelling our Dec ressies and going next summer instead just to put it off for a while. But it is hard to cancel once you book it.:sad1:

Where have you been, Deb? Old news.

I had to cancel in 04 because I got deployed. They were real nice and refunded my money even though it was too close to the trip. Thanks, Disney.

We canceled last Jan. We were ready to take our brand new TT to the Fort. We found out my wife's aunt had cancer and her grandfather was not doing well, so went to see her family instead. Disney will still be there. Our June trip may be in jeopardy also. My 13yo DD broke her ankle Saturday playing softball while sliding into 2nd base. She is having a plate and screws put in tomorrow. We will have a follow up appt next Friday with the Ortho Dr. to see if she will be able to go to Disney.

Just in case there are any active or retired military folks out there who don't know this...

If you show your military ID before checking out at The Home Depot, you receive a 10% discount. (At least the one I work at does that - but you have to ask for it!) The next time you're at THD, ask!!

That gets you unlimited front of the line passes!!!

Just rent her a wheel chair for the parks

I have used this many times. I keep getting this one cashier, however, who doesn't think the guy on the ID card is me and gives me a real hassle about it. I guess I am just better looking in person.

We cancelled June this year, first time in over 18 years. We are trying for Dec. instead. The cost is just getting too high. Disney keep raising prices in a slow slow market.

We canceled this past February because I tripped over the Guitar Hero game and broke my arm and toe three days before the trip.

That's one of the things I don't miss about the army. Betwen deployments, activations, annual training, etc, etc, I missed a lot of anniversaries and birthdays and other special events that I can never get back I'm sure it was the same with you. I never had to cancel a Disney trip though -- but I came very close in 2001 and almost missed a trip in 2003 but I retired instead.

Shouldn't be a problem going to Disney. She may need to use a wheelchair to get around. I went with my daughters a week after I had plates and screws used to put my ankle and leg put together 5 years ago. Had a blast.

I've had to check out a couple days early to go to my MIL's funeral and had to postpone leaving for a few days for work, but have never had to totally cancel.

This past December, I swapped from staying at the Fort and switched to a resort cause the trip was way to short and decided not to fool with flying and tent camping for only 4 nights.

Well, DH and I were just talking about booking a room at the SOG for our Oct. trip. I really want to stay at the fort, but with the cost of fuel, towing will kill us! So I think we are going to keep our reservations the way they are(we have it all paid up) but also reserve a room at the SOG just in case. As long as we cancel within 30 days we will get our money back and I should know by then if we will tow or not. I am really bummed because I love the fort and it is sooooo much easier for us to stay in our camper rather than a hotel room. The SOG is nice, but it isn't my own, ya know. Lets cross our fingers for an early Christmas miracle and the gas prices will go down a bit. Or, I will somehow fall into some money!!!:rotfl:
