Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

Reporting back.....
55 years old - 2nd Pfizer shot at 10:30 am on Monday. I was fine all day, went to bed, pretty restless sleep. I took my temp at 6 AM Tuesday - 101 fever. Felt feverish all day Tuesday - took Tylenol. Not much of an appetite.
Woke up this am with a slight headache - took Tylenol and feeling back to normal. If you had told me yesterday that I would feel as well as I do today, I wouldn't have believed it.
Arm pain was less this time for me. Almost gone today.

So glad to be done. Feeling yucky for one day is worth it, and I've felt worse.

This thread has been so great - thanks again to everyone for reporting their experiences.

Got the J&J shot yesterday on my lunch break at a drive-thru clinic. I raised my driver seat a bunch to be sure she wouldn’t inject too high! Made sure to keep moving that arm and it has felt fine since. Middle of last night I noticed a swollen lymph node in my neck and it hurt to swallow. Now 30+ hours post-vax and still have the lymph node pain and mild fatigue. Hopefully will wake tomorrow feeling normal. Very glad to be one-and-done and have that coveted green card!

Had my 2nd Pfizer shot yesterday
Was really worried about getting sick because I've read so many horror stories.
Nothing - I've been feeling great, other than a slight Covid arm, just normal.
I'm so thankful.

PLEASE go get vaccinated so we can get out of this mess soon.

Not vaccinated and coming in July 100%

I'm sure you expected this reaction, but I'm going to say it anyway: I think it's selfish for people who can be vaccinated not to. It's a slight pinch. It barely hurts. You may feel feverish for a day afterwards (odds: about 1 in 10), but then you are immune and can't spread the virus to others.

COVID-19 has killed 1 out of every 56 Americans who have tested positive. It's highly contagious, so it's a very dangerous virus. Currently, in states that have the new variant, 5% of people in their 30s who test positive for COVID-19 end up hospitalized. That's right: 5%. That's 1 in 20. The new variants are a lot harder on young people. In the state of Michigan, there are currently 70 children hospitalized for COVID-19.

Just get the shot, especially before you travel. You're not just choosing to put yourself at risk when you travel unvaccinated, but also everyone around you. A child just died of COVID-19 after flying to Hawaii. His parents were vaccinated, but he wasn't old enough to get his shot yet.

My friend got the first Pfizer shot and has developed shingles. So glad I opted for J&J

Sorry to here about the shingles. I had the two shingles vaccinations finally September and November 2020. My husband did his earlier, when they were scarce around here. My mom and my sister both had them years ago. My sister had hers on her face near her eyes in 2004 when she was 47. She was in the midst of undergoing a surgical biopsy for a breast cancer scare (turned out benign), and I had just been diagnosed with invasive breast cancer myself. Lots of stress all around. I have often wondered if stress can contribute to triggering shingles. Hopefully I won‘t ever personally find out. I hope your friend’s shingles aren’t too painful for her.

Ok, as promised yesterday, I’m back with my side effects report. 😊 (Recap - I got my 2nd Moderna vaccine at 8:30 AM yesterday. My husband got his on Tuesday and wasn’t feeling well yesterday.)

My arm is crazy sore. I’ve heard this is common, so I was prepared for it. I feel a bit sluggish, but there are a number of factors that could be contributing to that. Otherwise, I’m fine.

My husband is feeling better today, thankfully!

Glad to have gotten both doses in and looking forward to achieving maximum immunity soon!

Stress is one of the things that can trigger an outbreak. I am 45 and will definitely be getting a shingles vaccine as soon as I am 50 (which is now the recommended age)

I have been told that stress does trigger shingles. I had it when I was 29. I had just started a new job and had a 1 and 2 year old.

Are you saying you think the COVID vaccine caused the shingles?

I know there were reports out of Israel of a small number of people getting shingles with a covid shot, but those people all also had other underlying autoimmune diseases. They weren't clear on whether or not there was a causal relationship there, but it is being looked into.

Quick question - I am just about 3 weeks out from shot #1 (Pfizer). Shot #2 tomorrow.

Shortly after the shot, I had this shooting pain down the arm I was injected on (right), and then the pain "landed" in the knuckle area under my pinky. Felt like arthritis - that kind of ache. It ebbed and flowed and I didn't really think of it much.

But now I have that ache in other places - namely my collar bone, hips, lower back, tops of my feet, and my left upper arm. I have arthritis in my wrist, so I know what that feels like, and this is like that - or like the aches you get right before the weather switches (for me, at least).

Anyone have this? Should I try and see my dr before I get #2, etc? I had shingles back in October, and I get huge lymph nodes when I have an infection going on, so I see to get extreme reactions. Again, just nervous for what ##2 might do..

Also, ppl who still get their period - has the shot changed anything for you?

I had a similar pain in my arm, after both my 1st and my 2nd shots. Then I was all over achy, and my back was 'tight', and pain across my shoulderblades. After a couple of days, all the aches and pains went away.

That is the only thing that worries me - it has been 3 weeks...and I am not sure if adding shot #2 tomorrow is the best idea with these aches. Sigh. I hate overthinking everything!!
