Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

Did you take anything for your nausea?
No. I have some pepto bismol but I couldn't find any information about if it was safe to take with the covid vaccine or not as far as interactions so I played it safe and didn't take anything. With ibuprofen and other stuff like that if I'm nauseated it just makes it worse normally so I stayed away from that while I was still experiencing nausea.

Our technician recommended our off arm. Said that if there was arm
pain, at least it wouldn’t affect use of the dominant arm. Wondering what’s it’s going to feel like in a few hours.

Long update for me about 26 or so hours in after 2nd dose. Not going to sugar coat this but not intended to make someone apprehensive about getting it either.

Me:
~Minor hot flashes about 30mins after but stopped within an hour (shorter duration this time around)
~Arm pain started much earlier at about 2hours in
~Fatigue set in about 7 1/2 hours in
~Intense nausea set in about 12 hours after shot, did throw up some. Tried some dried toast (which normally helps) but it neither helped nor hurt
~Chills set in about 12 hours in shortly after the nausea and I was a shivering, teeth-chattering mess for several hours. My body temp was in the process of rising at that time
~Fever of 100 started 13 hours in. The thermometer I use normally registers my body at normal body temp or below at around 97.8 or so so 100 starts to feel pretty bad for me
~Body aches started with headache, lower back, neck, and joints in general
~Fever of 102.3 14 hours in
~Went to sleep about 12:30am and woke up every hour til 8am mostly due to the nausea
~Threw up again 15 1/2 hours in and then again 19 hrs in
~Nausea mostly gone by 22 1/2 hours after 2nd dose (11 1/2 hours worth of intense nausea)
~Fever broke (for now) about 23 hours in (10 hours worth of a fever)
~Right now still feel quite achy, joints hurt and head hurts and my teeth hurt. When I'm nauseated taking pain meds tends to make it worse so I haven't taken any yet and right now I don't have anything in my stomach other than half a small pack of applesauce. Maybe in a bit I might take some ibuprofen we'll see.
~Arm pain is much better right now

Husband:
~Arm pain started much earlier around the same time as me.
~Started feeling achy with joints and head hurting and some chills about 13 hours in
~No fever
~Went to bed around the same time as me but woke up every 45mins because of the aches
~Arm pain is much better right now
~Still achy with joint pain

Both my husband and I said we felt this second shot more than the first. I know people have mentioned just chalking it up to different people giving it than the first time but my husband and I had different people do ours and we felt the same. Who knows. We both took naps just a bit ago. Today I have a feeling is going to be nap central lol just due to the lack of sleep both he and I got. My husband slept in the guest bedroom mostly because when I'm at my worst with illness it's better for him as I tend to keep him awake (although this time around he got little sleep). I def. made a tour of our bed sleeping in all sorts of weird spots (woke up this morning laying at the foot of the bed across the bottom part).

Sister-in-law who had a rougher first dose (the half of her body hurting, etc) so far only has arm pain and a headache. As far as we know she did not have covid previously. I don't know how her boyfriend is doing.

Will do another update in a day or two.

On no! I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time. The nausea was really a big problem for 3 of us after our second shots (2 Moderna, one JnJ). I hope it lifts quickly for you.
Small update. I’m cold. I don’t have chills but I’m cold. Laying on the sofa under a blanket and the fire is on. I’m usually always warm so feeing cold is new to me.
I also don’t want to get off the couch. I’m not sleeping I just am extremely unmotivated to move.
Arm is less sore than thus morning though.

Too late for you, but my go to advice now is to have a heating pad handy the night of the second shot. It was a life saver for me. I didn't even own one before but on a lark decided to pick one up after hearing about the chills everyone was having. It felt SO good that night.

I hope you're feeling better quickly!

Maybe they need to make Zofran available to people going for their second shots. We had 2 tablets left after my older son's wisdom tooth extraction a while back and I sent them to college with my daughter. I made her dig them out before her second shot so she could grab them quickly in the night (thankfully she didn't need them but it was good knowing they were available).

Thank you I appreciate the well wishes :) we already canceled plans for tomorrow just to be cautious. I've had 3 naps today and about to take my 4th lol

That sounds miserable :( I had intense nausea four hours post vaccine but it only lasted two hours. Nearly 12 hours of that kind of nausea would have been horrible.

I'll say after about 7 hours I don't really feel anything unusual after a Moderna shot. I don't feel any better or worse. The injection site is barely feeling any different, and I pretty much have to rub it to notice that there's anything different. But basically it just feels like someone jabbed me in the muscle with a needle.

I always say if you're a side sleeper, get it in the arm that is up. If not, get it in your non dominant arm. If you're a rollie pollie cover thief get it in the arm you think will be up more.

Update: Day two after second Pfizer dose and I woke up at 4:30 am because my arm/shoulder is so incredibly sore. I also have a very swollen/tender lymph node in my armpit. Taking some tylenol and trying to go back to sleep! Luckily, this is the only real side effect I'm experiencing. Husband has had a little bit of a sore arm but that's it.

I was just thinking this. I got my first shot yesterday in my left arm. I sleep on my left side and it was so uncomfortable. I could NOT lie on that side. Does anyone know if you have to get the second shot in the same arm?

I was able to choose an arm for both shots.

I got both shots in my left arm. Mainly because I do not sleep on my left side (I'm in a cast right now so I know I can't sleep on my left side). It was no problem choosing whatever arm you want for both shots.

So 24 hours post Pfizer #2. Did fine most of yesterday, but started getting really achey around 9pm. Took Tylenol and went to bed and slept great until 4am. Woke up feeling nauseous and achey, especially in my legs. Took a Zofran and more Tylenol, but couldn’t get comfortable so moved to the couch, where I slept on & off until 7am. Feeling a little achey in the legs again. Thankfully I have plans for today, so I can nap as needed. Arm is sore if I move it above my head, but that is a minimal problem to me.

I'm finally feeling back to normal. I think it was profound exhaustion that really wiped me out-so maybe I was mistaking fatigue for something else. I was so tired yesterday I just slept as soon as I got off work. Got my shot on Monday so that's about 6 days out until feeling 100% again. Again, had the J&J. My arm isn't too sore by now and never really was a huge problem.

My armpit lymph node is also very swollen and sore today. For the first shot it didn’t happen until 4 days later. This time it was the night of day 2. I briefly had the cold sweats last night. I’m feeling more normal today. Not tired at all. Only a mild headache. I think I’m in the clear now. I feel lucky to be done and to have had such mild symptoms.

i also got both shots in my dominant arm because I use it the most. The more you move it the less sore it will be.
