Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

Yesterday when she bunched up/pinched my arm to give the shot I really felt nothing, nor nothing going in and I thought "wow, maybe this is the secret to any easy shot" never knowing that squeezing the arm is not the desired way to give a vaccine.

I keep telling myself that if it didn't go into the muscle and was give subcutaneously, I'd likely be having skin irritaiton from that injection or redness. But I've got nothing.

Hi,

I self-inject intramuscularly, on a regular basis with the same needle used for the vaccine, and I go to my GP's office to have them do it as well.

Do not worry, some of the nurses pinch my skin - and it really is more pulling the muscle up - and some don't. I have never felt a difference in efficacy.

When I inject my own upper arm/shoulder I do not squeeze, because I have muscle right at the surface. Every now and then I rotate to my thigh to give my arms a break, and at that location I pinch and pull and almost flatten the muscle up because I have more fat. And once again I don't feel a difference in efficacy.

Also, if I ever miss the muscle some of the shot comes back out, almost like blood.

I guarantee you she got your muscle.

No. That post just made me paranoid it could happen. I hadn’t even considered it could get canceled.
Same here. That is also why I didn’t want to try to reschedule for 3 weeks out of fear that something would get screwed up. I hope yours is fine. Keep us posted.

So, weird day two - it reminded me of the days right before I got diagnosed with leukemia (which makes sense, b/c both involve the immune system working really hard to deal with something:))...

No meds needed, but anytime I did something "normal", I'd need a break. So after the walk, I needed an hour to lie down and rest (and get my appetite back, which I lost for the hour even though I went before lunch - although it's been lighter all day). Same after making dinner for the family - I just needed to get off my feet after making dinner and lie down for 30 minutes. Not nap, just have my feet elevated and stop using lots of energy:)...

No meds today, and arm pain is almost fully gone. As someone said, it's like an "off" day, where you just want to baby yourself (and I did with a bubble bath - that was good)...like that day after you're over the flu, but now you need to eat/drink/rest and stop trying to press so hard to get back to normal right away:).

It's a weird thing b/c I didn't have any illness, even from the shot, to feel this way...but I'll take it:). And now I know to give my spouse and oldest a wide berth Friday and not expect them to help do anything (that's what I have the other kids for:))...

I felt very similarly the day after my second shot. I work from home, and I was able to do it, but I felt like I was slogging through quicksand. Just trouble focusing and serious energy drops every time I tried. And doing small things around the house wore me out. It pretty much all went away right at 24 hours after my symptoms started though.

Glad you're feeling better, and glad you know what to expect with your spouse and your oldest!

That's a great description of my day after my second shot. I was actually folding laundry and had to take a break and sit for a moment. Who knew folding socks could be so taxing??

Got my second Moderna on 2 April and so am fully vaccinated and this weekend will be 14 full days since the second shot. Should mean that I have immunity. Did not have any issues with either shot. Little tired after the second one, but it could have just been me and not the shot.

I work at a stop & Shop in new jersey on the 8th i got the j & j vaccine from the phamacy i felt no side effects yet tommorrow it will be one week. I trust it i'm happy i did it i think they stopped it prematurely for i think it was 6 people that got sick out of thousands

I was signed up for the J&J shot for next Tuesday. The pharmacy called me yesterday to tell me that they will not be giving it and would I like an appointment for tomorrow (today) for Moderna?
I looked so long for the one shot J&J because I have needle anxiety. I accepted my fate and got the Moderna today. 6.5 hours later, so far so good. I didn't feel the needle or vaccine going into my arm. My arm isn't sore, and I'm feeling pretty good. I pray it stays this way. The only down size to getting it today is that they scheduled my next appointment on May 12th and we are leaving for Disney on the 16th! eek!!!!

Additionally, younger people are generally supposed to be the ones having worse symptoms from the vaccines than those who are older because their immune systems are mounting a stronger response. Or, so I’ve heard. Conversely, the disease is supposed to be worse for older people than younger.
Kind of, wheels within wheels and claims and counter claims about the vaccines, right?

My appointment got cancelled the other day due to the halt on AZ vaccines. They tried to call me back today, but I was putting up my laundry. Then when I called them back they were on call themselves. Then they called me back and I was on call with a client at work... the worst timing. I can't imagine it's about anything other than the vaccine, but I do wonder what it's gonna be.

Day 3, I feel great! Energy and appetite 100%. Arm just noticeable for the shot, but no pain. So, maybe the walks did help (and I am gonna take another one this afternoon - we'll see if it wears me out any over my norm:).

SO much easier than the Shingrix series for me.

EDIT TO ADD: Walk is done and I feel great, so I think that's it for side effects for me:)...

The vaccine does not give immunity. You can still catch and pass on covid just your body knows how to fight it now, so hopefully it won't be a hospital visit if you do catch it. Some test have shown you have a lesser chance which is great but def not immune.

Well, to be fair, they've identified 5800 breakthrough cases out of nearly 77 million fully vaccinated in the United States. So no, it's not 100% immunity, but the chances of catching it are astronomically low.

This is not correct. The vaccine does not give STERILIZING immunity, but it does grant a pretty high level of immunity from infection.
