Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

This has happened when I pulled a hangnail on my thumb but I haven't heard of anything like this related to the vaccine.

Hope everything is okay.

Low platelets has happened in people after all 3 vaccines. There have been like 50 cases reported to VAERS after the Pfizer and Moderna shots and it is something to watch for in all the vaccines.

It's probably just a coincidence and he just pulled too much skin off, but it was an unnerving amount of bleeding.

Post-second-shot update: Came down with some minor flu-like symptoms about 28 hours after getting my second Pfizer shot. Nothing horrible, just some muscle aches and that general run-down feeling that comes with the flu. No chills or fever. Went to bed early last night and today I'm feeling much better!

I'm on day three post J&J and I'm miles better than the first day but feel weirdly tired and like my body needs recalibrating. Moreso my fault than anything elses. Gotta get myself moving around more tomorrow so I can be right back at it.
I got my shot in the evening and then felt muscle aches that early morning. Had a horrible headache that was really the most unbearable thing out of all of it, slept intermittently on day 1. Day 2 felt better, but still weak and slightly headached. I also had reflux symptoms from laying down all day and not taking my medicine. Day 3 now, I think I just needed to have slept in more instead of making myself get up early. Didn't have an appetite before and now I have to get my stomach used to meals again. Annoying. Also need breaks after everything.

I'm glad I got a one-dose before they shut it down. I do hope they find the cause, but I hope it doesn't slow rollout much.

Additionally, younger people are generally supposed to be the ones having worse symptoms from the vaccines than those who are older because their immune systems are mounting a stronger response. Or, so I’ve heard. Conversely, the disease is supposed to be worse for older people than younger.
That would make a lot of sense. My mom had a 2-dose back in February and had no symptoms. My boss is about the same age, right as rain the next day. Me and my sisters were both totally wiped out. I was the wipi-est of all, I'm 21 with Celiac disease. My boss's son was also down, he's my age...

Something weird just happened to my son. He is 3 days post vaccine #2. He has a habit of picking at the skin around his fingernails. He just did it and it started bleeding profusely and heavily, much more than usual. It soaked through a band aid in seconds and was dripping. I wrapped it in a wad of gauze and taped it down tight and had him hold his hand up above his heart. It took 25 MINUTES for the bleeding to stop. I had to change the gauze twice.

I called his pediatrician once it finally stopped bleeding, and am waiting for a call back. The nurse said "that is concerning." So now, I'm sitting here clearly thinking the worst.

Ugh...I did not need this stress after this morning with the stress of buying Disneyland tickets!

I posted about my daughter's (17) experience. She has never had a nosebleed before and got one 12 hours after her 1st Pfizer. She was sleeping and her nose started gushing blood. I've never seen that much blood come out of someone's nose. It was terrifying and when it didn't stop after 15 minutes we went to the ER. The good news is they ran a bunch of bloodwork and looked at her platelets and everything was fine. The ER did get her nose to stop bleeding and, so far, she hasn't had a nosebleed with vaccine #2. Her pediatrician also looked over the bloodwork and said she was fine to get her second shot. So who knows if it was related or not. I think it probably was. I have read some personal reports of heavy menstrual bleeding after the vaccines and also some nosebleeds. If you're concerned, the pediatrician could run some bloodwork and check to make sure the platelets are OK.

I remember you mentioning that. It is reassuring to hear that they ran blood work and everything came back normal.

My son picks at his cuticles routinely. He always has a bandaid on one of his fingers. This was a shocking amount of blood though. He kind of ran downstairs panicking after his attempt to stop it with a bandaid proved fruitless.

Still waiting to hear from the pediatrician. She will likely call after office hours because she is the only one there today.

I feel slightly comforted by the fact that he picked at a pimple on his forehead yesterday and it bled too, but it scabbed over just fine.

Update on DD. She said she ran a fever until about noon yesterday (so 12 hours) and then it came back but not as bad around 5pm. She took two naps and went to bed around 9ish. Said it was the best sleep she’s had in months. Got up and went to work this morning. She said she got super hot around 10am and worried the fever was coming back but the feeling went away pretty quick. Says she feels fine and that all and all it wasn’t that bad. So about 24ish hours of symptoms.

I'm 9 hours or so post-second shot of Pfizer. I feel pretty lousy. Achy around my torso, slight headache but not too bad, chilled. Tired, very tired. Just not myself, and I have a very annoying buzzing in my left ear. My arm hurts but that's to be expected, too. All in all, not *really* so bad. I think I might feel worse through the night, though.

I received my 2nd dose of Pfizer yesterday morning. My arm is a lot more sore than after the 1st dose. I had a slight headache last night, and I feel a little nauseous this morning. But overall, I would say the side effects have been pretty minor. Hope it stays that way!

Day 2 Pfizer for spouse and oldest...

Spouse started getting a sore arm and achy last night about 6 hours post shot (and he took a med)...and chills kicked in at 4am...he's still frigid with no appetite (but, thankfully, no nausea), so I sent him back to bed with hot tea, blankets, and a med (work gave him a free day off, and he would need it). I'm hoping he doesn't get a headache from lack of caffeine, b/c tea can't match coffee, and he tends to drink a lot of coffee...but here's hoping I can get him coffee later...and that his worst symptoms (chills and aches) wear off in about 12 hours so he can take the 2 boys to swim lessons (that, I'm trying to avoid for me:))...

Daughter (young adult) is still sailing through. I told her to watch for the 24 hour "it kicks in" point, and to take it easy today. But nothing, natta for her now even with shot #2. Not even a sore arm. At some point, I gotta think she'll react:)...

I really didn't react. My arm never got sore. In hindsight I could probably now say that between 24-36 hours post #2 shot, I was achy. It's hard to tell though because I've been home for 6 weeks with my leg in a cast and everything on me pretty much hurts all the time. But looking back now, that one day after the shot, I was way more achy then usual, even with Tylenol. Whereas today and yesterday, most of those aches weren't there.

I got the my first shot on Wednesday, by Thursday morning I was fatigue, had really painful achy joints. I could barely keep my eyes open. Woke up this morning feeling pretty good except for a huge headache, which is gone now. I have a very bad feeling that the second shot is going to be a dozy!
I’d be interested in seeing info on if one has a reaction like this to be first dose if they have more or less side effects to the second dose.

I had no reaction at all to the first Pfizer dose, not even a sore arm. The second one, the side effects kicked in and got worse through the night- I'm Mrs. Hot Flash, and I was shivering with chills. I'm starting to feel better now, though. I was told that because I had Covid my side effects were likely going to be worse than other people, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

I am getting my second Pfizer shot tomorrow morning. I just want to get it over with So I don’t have to worry that if I get sick I would die. Neither of my relatives who have passed had received any shots.

So very sorry for your loss.

I'll let y'all know around May 12th how it goes. I wonder if what happened yesterday was due to having covid before? I didn't get tested but last October I got sick (it was mild) and lost my taste and smell.

So, my son's pediatrician said not to worry about the shot and the bleeding, but she does want to see him today and run some blood tests to check everything since it's been a few years on that. She did agree that a small cut like that shouldn't bleed for 25 minutes, especially when you are elevating it and applying pressure.
