Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

After DH and I getting our first Moderna last week, another stroke of good luck today. A different health system that DH signed up with called him to offer an appointment. He politely declined but mentioned that DS18 is on their wait list and maybe he could take the slot? She quickly finds him in their system, and knowing that warehouse workers become eligible on Friday, schedules him for Monday! Bazinga! And he found out at work that Amazon will pay him $40 for each shot after showing proof, so that's something nice.

I sure am glad that I live in a state that hardly has any people because that is making this process easier. I used to share NYC each day with more people than Colorado has in total! @Dan Murphy, thank you for the Dolly video....it was absolutely hysterical. We must protect our national treasures!

I got my first shot today (Moderna). The county is running a clinic for 65+ and those younger with certain health conditions. I don’t fit either of those categories, but they have a system worked out with our school district that when they get cancellations they fill them with school district employees. I got the call today, the secretary came to cover my class and I was out the door in about 5 minutes. So far my only symptom is an achy arm.

First Pfizer shot at CVS today. So pleasant, well-organized, all very friendly people. Three hours later, very slight upper arm pain, very slight headache, so really not bad at all. And the injection itself was painless, compared to a flu shot that always gives me a momentary “ouch”.

Guys! I was able to snag a covid vaccine appointment today for this Sunday at CVS after they opened it to educators. I refreshed like I was "pounding the app" for fastpass times lol. I'm so happy I was floating around for the rest of my school day.

I got the first pfizer shot this evening at a Rite Aid 25 mins from home. Shot itself was painless. Arm is a little tender. I was told 2nd shot in three weeks and may not be same location. They send email telling you when and where .

Tomorrow DH is getting shot at different Rite Aid.

ER nurse here and the system I work for was on the ball. Got first dose right after Christmas and second dose January 7th. The Pfizer. No problems!
My parents got their first dose 2 weeks ago and my in laws a week ago. They got the Moderna. No wait really, as soon as they announced available to 65 and up, I was able to get them an appt with the system I work for.

Well, back from my shot. About an hour drive each way. Site run by the National Guard. Very efficient in processing LOTS of people.

So far, no symptoms of side effects. Maybe I'll be lucky and be this way tonight and tomorrow.
Well, still no side effect symptoms. Zero. Hope they did not just give me a saline solution injection. :scratchin:  Maybe I'll get some reactions later today or tomorrow. :confused3

Both my husband and I are scheduled for our first dose tomorrow afternoon. Don't know which vaccine it will be, just know it's not J&J. We only found out we were eligible yesterday, and were able to get signed up right away yesterday afternoon (link via employer). Have to drive a hour, but happy to do so. Hoping for no serious reactions, but glad to be getting it (and hopefully 2nd) on a Friday so we can chill over the weekend if it affects us.

My folks are in Florida and area still trying to get signed up for an appointment. Hope they can get theirs soon.

We are thrilled to get started on it-

There's such a diverse reaction to both 1st and 2nd shots. I guess the good news is no one seems to be down more than a day or two at the most. I feel lucky to have had no side effects whatsoever. But...the nurse at the waiting area after the shots said, if you have side effects at least you know it's working. So....does that mean it isn't working for me? I just had to laugh. What else can I say.

My brother Rob came over for coffee but admitted he felt like he had been hit by a bus. He said it hit him about 10 last night; around 11 hrs after his shot. He had no fever(I checked) but had a mild headache and felt achy and drained. He said he could have taught. He's retired but just getting ready to compare with other brother who's getting Pfizer this afternoon. That brother took the day off "just in case" This is Shot #2 for the both of them.

Howdy gang! Got shot #2 of Pfizer yesterday at 3pm and all was right with the world...until about 6:30am this morning when the body aches set in, the weakness, low fever of 100 and a little nausea. The more I walked the farm doing morning chores the lousier I felt. I tried to go to work this am, but when I got there I knew I'd never last all day so I went home with their blessing and CRASHED in my bed for the last 3 hours. I just woke up to grab lunch and will go back to bed in a few minutes. If this is what MILD Covid feels like, then I want no part of it! Glad to have gotten the shot. I regret nothing!

DH gets his 1st at 4:30pm today. I don't know which one.

ok, who's ready for a book........

My DD found us shots at two different Rite Aid, one by luck, one by staying up to midnight. One a few mins away, one 25 mins away.

For my shot, it was the pfizer. They had appointments every three mins. Sounds great. But it wasn't. It takes more than three mins , so it was like hanging around the deli counter. You have people waiting to get it, people waiting after the shot.

They took two people in at a time. You sit in that chair, you sit in that chair (about 6 ft apart almost facing each other) After you are in the room, they ask, do you mind doing this together? (we are strangers) Then a group of about 6 questions, are you sick, are you allergic, etc..... She takes out two needles. Gives me my shot . I had a short sleeve shirt on. The guy had a long sleeve shirt on, I don't know what he did to get the shot . I didn't look, I don't need any more pictures of needles in my memory. Then there are your papers for next time, make sure you have the whole day clear, it may not be here, it could be any time that day. Here are the vaccine cards, take them home and fill them out. Here is the paper with the lot number. After 15 mins if you feel ok, just leave. No double checking from staff.

Today I got an email, same time, same place.

DH got the moderma. Appointment 15 mins apart. Only one person at a time was taken in. Only one other person there . And that was the previous person waiting for the reaction time. When DH was called in, the other person was told their time is up and they can go. DH got a folder with his paper work and vaccine card filled out and appointment for next time already noted. After 15 mins, he was told he could go.

Two experiences couldn't be more different.

One good thing, we get second shots a week apart, so if we feel yucky, it won't be at the same time.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I was slightly concerned that we'd be getting both the first & the second shots at same place/time, but feel a bit better in that at least we have the next two days off in case we don't feel to great...we will have to switch off dealing with the dogs haha!
