Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

And why would you laugh at me asking about our Texas people? They've been under such rough conditions this week which like much of the country has experience delays in shipments. Shouldn't we care about our fellow people? Nevermind I don't think I need this negativity. Glad you're good with your vaccination :upsidedow
Sorry. Your comment was just so wildly off-topic I had to laugh. I changed it to a Like.

I think it’s more like the State has given guidelines and different areas in the state are doing what they need to for the County and the demographics in that area. I live in a suburb type community with 1 small hospital and Jim lives in a large city in a different county. The State is still in charge of making sure vaccine gets where it’s needed.
that was my last comment as I think we highjacked the thread....sorry.
True. There are enormous differences between our counties, and especially in the area of healthcare and demographics.

One of the reasons why Miami-Dade and Broward counties have progressed so fast with vaccinations is simply infrastructure. In Miami, we are using four very large facilities that can accommodate thousands of cars at a time in an orderly fashion with good traffic flow in and out. In fact, we have another one (Homestead Speedway) that is not being used yet. In Broward, they are using several large county parks which have the same logistical benefits, and that's working well for them.

Not every county needs that kind of volume, but if you can't get people in and out, it makes the process pretty difficult.
There are many, many other logistical considerations -- those are just a couple of obvious ones.

We must be doing pretty well by letting the officials closest to the actual problem figure out the fine details.

I see lots of posts from other people all over the country who can't get vaccinations. But we're already starting to do a limited number of 55+ people who really need the protection.

People can Google and post whatever they want, but occasionally it's illuminating just to look up at the actual scoreboard.

I was trying to politely get back on topic (so no not wildly off topic) :) I've got to go make dinner now, have a nice night.

I'll check back tomorrow to see any if Texans posted :flower1:

If you want to see Florida's actual plan in detail, you can Google it or look on the Florida DOH site. It's all there.

These are contradictory comments. Feel free to PM me for more conversation. This comment is the last I'll be saying on this thread to you :)

Let's try not to laugh at people in a mean spirited way

If any Texans comment on how they are doing and if there were any vaccine issues I'll be sure to check back but I've asked on a different thread I found as well. I hope everyone is doing better this weekend and this coming week!!

Vertigo is awful, did it pass quickly at least ?
It was gone when I woke up. I'm getting used to dealing with it because I started getting it as a migraine symptom 2 years ago. I dont think it is a common side effect of the vaccine but i think the shot must have triggered a migraine.

I received my second shot today and i immediately got vertigo, I had to lie to the people at the vaccination center so they would let me leave. I've still got sea legs and my shot was 6 hours ago.
In that situation, vertigo is usually caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure...which can be VERY dangerous. If you have a recurrence of even slight symptoms, you should go to an urgent care or ER. That's not something to play with, even if you have had it before from other causes.

Well that's good it was gone when you woke up! Sorry to hear about your migraines :( When I was skimming the thread I did notice people bringing up migraines as something that got triggered so it does seem like that is at least becoming more common.

Maybe that's what it was? now that you mention it, my vertigo usually lasts longer than that. I'm just glad it's gone now!

There is a type of central nervous system reaction that some people have (on rare occasions) called a vasovagal syncope (syncope simply means fainting). It's usually caused by the sight of blood (especially your own), an injection, or emotional stress.

If it passes quickly, it's no big deal. However low blood pressure can be very dangerous if it persists.

Here's some info from Mayo Clinic:

Thanks. We are familiar with vasovagal syncope, my son has POTS and was mis-diagnosed for years with vasovagal syncope. I mean, he does experience syncope but it's a symptom of a larger condition. I've never fainted from a shot before, or from blood draws, but something about the Covid shot makes me feel really sick. I got sick after the first one too but no vertigo so I wasn't expecting it. I laid down on my left side when I came home and sipped 2 bottles of water, seems like it did the trick.

got my appointment for Tuesday morning. Had the first of my two vaccine jabs this morning it was the AstraZeneca jab no problems not even the sore arm some mentioned. it was drive through so I was told to sit in the car for 10 minutes and use the horn if I felt anything wrong. Bit annoyed because my sister said she was still waiting for her appointment as she had to wait for the fatties to get theirs, I am overweight but am working on it but that was still annoying.
