Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

I had my 2nd Moderna shot yesterday- I had a headache last night, and some tiredness & general blah feeling today. Took a Motrin before bed, and a Tylenol late this morning, but otherwise feeling fine! I have also been having this weird feeling like I burnt my tongue on and off, but I'm chalking that up to an immune response. I feel so thankful to have gotten this vaccine!

Monday 2/15
Got my second dose this afternoon.
Tuesday 2/16
Morning after: Didn't sleep well due to the sore arm, kept rolling over on it I guess. Other than the sore arm just a slight headache so far.
Wednesday 2/17
Update: Last night in addition to the above I got a fever that hit a high of 101. Had the headache all day and felt tired. But, this morning fever, headache and soreness are all gone. Guess I have to go back to household chores.

For those of you who have had the second Pfizer shot, was it exactly 21 days from the first shot?

I was scheduled for my second dose of Pfizer 19 days from receipt of the first. I specifically questioned that because I was under the impression it had to be 21 days. I was told there is 4 days on either side allowance.

received first shot last week, scheduled second shot for 3/3. Pfizer latest testing results are interesting. Not only does it decrease the likely hood of getting COVID (and if you do it is a very mild case) but it stops you from being a carrier. This is a game changer as now there is no need once you receive both shots for masks, since you cannot be a carrier. Since they give you a card, you should be able to go maskless as long as you carry the card.

I've seen reports that the leeway is actually as great as 6 weeks.

In Orange County FL we scheduled both our appointments at the same time. They were set to be 4 weeks apart. We got the Pfizer version and stuck with the 4-week interval.

I'm planning on getting COVID vaccine in Spring/Summer. What vaccine is the better vaccine to get, the Pfizer vaccine or the Moderna vaccine?

Also still thinking even after the vaccine that we will be wearing masks for a while at least. And be ready to show that card to do alot of things, very much like how you have to show Identification when asked.

I would say to get whichever vaccine you can get! I haven't seen much difference between Pfizer and Moderna. I plan to continue to wear a mask even after having had both of my shots, until I hear otherwise from the CDC.

We are still looking. I signed with the state (PA) Jan 16, I started looking at one pharmacy about 3 weeks ago, added two more to the list since then. I look, my DD looks. Nothing so far.

We have a trip sort of planned mid April. We have rooms, but not the kids. Don't want to borrow points and be stuck. I'm about three weeks from cancelling the whole thing.

Gosh....not even sure you will have a choice on which vaccine you get. Take whichever is available.

Yeah pretty sure it will be a long while before anyone has a choice. I'm thinking you'd have to be in general population AND wherever you want to get it from has multiple to choose from AND they allow you to AND they have enough supply that day to allow you to AND if you have 2 doses to ensure you get the same one (presently that is) for your 2nd dose. It's a lot to fall in perfect line, at the moment at least.

But the topic of choice has been around for a while. People need to get used to the idea of not having a choice here and just go with the flow as much as possible. Hypothetically discussing "Oh yeah if I could have xyz I'd do it over abc in a heartbeat" but not at this point discussing that with any real seriousness.

Sadly the CDC card can be easily “counterfeited” and so I doubt it will be of much use like many hope when it comes to travel, etc. There will need to be some standardized form of an id that is more like a driver’s license and not easily copied. And accepted by all states, countries, etc.

The supply of vaccines in CA is too low. Was just recently able to schedule an appointment for my 80+ yo grandmother in March.

I don’t think any sane person doubted the ability to counterfeit the CDC card. It’s literally just a piece of paper.

My brother’s hospital, Sutter Health, was giving a choice at one point when they had both vaccines on hand. They don’t schedule you for a particular vaccine lot. They just schedule for a vaccine. He said it didn’t create any issues because most people didn’t care.

My company is also giving the choice, they were not for a while, but as of a couple weeks ago they started designating certain days for each brand, they have a lot more Pfizer days though, just due to supply.

I agree that for the vast majority of people there won't be much of a choice available. I was personally happy to have either one, they are both incredibly similar.

(OHIO): My in-laws got appointments for their first vaccines for this coming Wednesday at Walgreens! They were calling local pharmacies daily starting earlier last week and scored their appointments yesterday. They both fall into the 65+ age group, so they are eligible as of last week.

I tried to get an appointment for my mom, who also falls into that age group and seems in no hurry to get her vaccine...she can't commit to a date for the second vaccine because she's flying to Florida in March. 😐 I made her a Walgreens account and in looking online, it did seem like there were quite a few appointments available on Wednesday. So if any of you are looking for appointments, hound your pharmacies!!

-----------------

As for me, I posted a few updates from my second Moderna vaccine that I got on Friday. Arm pain is 99% gone...the swelling in that shoulder is still there (I guess I'll ice it or something) and I have a bit of splotchy redness, but nothing is really bothering me at this point. Very thankful.
Update on this...my in-laws showed up to Walgreens for their appointments and were turned away. They were told there had been a "glitch" and that Walgreens is only doing second dose appointments at this time. What?? They are not happy.

Right now when we have millions and millions and millions of people needing to be vaccinated if you're choosing to be vaccinated I stand by my comment of not expecting to be given a choice. I wouldn't even think about it right now even though the poster who asked was talking about months in the future.

As for your brother's hospital and other places it's simply due to supply at any given point. In my state for a while we were having more Pfizer than Moderna. Now according to their vaccine website it's 45.3% Pfizer and 54.7% Moderna that have been administered. It used to be almost half/half for a while. But none of the places have an option, you get what you get because doses are allocated as they come and the whole point is to get as many people vaccinated as possible at this point.

Most people don't care at this point because the two options have similar efficacy and with supply in such scarcity to begin with. As time goes on more vaccines will be added. I would want to know first if I was even given a choice before giving it too much thought but that's just me. The conversation and comparisons will evolve as more vaccines are added anyways.

Oh no! I would be so disappointed! Do they have any idea when they will be able to get a vaccine?
