Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

You didn't read the comment or weren't following the conversation :)

The poster was talking about a fever 1 1/2 to 2 weeks after the shot just randomly showing up. No one was talking about getting a fever from the vaccine as in within a few days..I uh def. had a fever from the vaccine (see my awful update pages ago), my husband did as well, my mom did as well. All the comments in regards to that poster's husband in particular was discussing delayed reactions such that a fever cropping up that late would have been unlikely from the vaccine (or so multiple poster's thoughts were).

Yes, it’s also been documented that side effects may not manifest until 1 to 2 weeks after the vaccine, more so with the second dose. My symptoms after first Pfizer dose didn’t happen until 8 days after first shot.
The vaccine takes at least 2 weeks to build immunity, and so symptoms could show up at any time.

You can easily quote one of the other multiple posters if you want to so unsure why you've decided to latch onto mine (I was like the 3rd or so poster to even decide to respond). We were specifically talking about the fever. No need to go back and forth on this out loud musings from several of us posters regarding it, we're just giving our opinion. If you feel strongly enough about yours I would suggest quoting the poster who posed the question about her husband rather than continue quoting me :)

I ran a fever a couple of days post 2nd vaccine, and then it went away.
I don't know anyone who had a temp pop up a week or more later. It could have been vaccine or something else.
Did you highlight your symptoms in V-Safe? I noticed they track for awhile, these are the type of symptoms they are trying to watch for.

How many do you know who has gotten a vaccine and told you every single side effect they had and when it happened?
Statistically you may not have heard of a fever happening more than a few days post.
I didn’t feel the need to have reported anything unusual since it is not unusual according to the studies already published.

I guess you opted not to participate in V-Safe.
I was glad I did. I figure every data point (even self reported) helps to understand possible side effects.
And fever a day or two post vaccine is fairly regularly reported. When people are a week plus out, that may be more unusual.
I think it's good that V-Safe continues to gather information.

Has anyone gotten the fever, chills and body aches 1.5 to 2 weeks after your vaccine (Pfizer)? DH got a fever, chills and his knees and back hurt 2 weeks after his first dose. He got a COVID test and it was negative. We figured he picked up a bug as the week prior I did lots of school cloths shopping and we went to the zoo one day (only went to outside exhibits and stayed away from the crowed). He is about 1.5 weeks out from the second shot and started with a fever mid day today. We have not gone anywhere other then grocery shopping in 2 weeks. Kids are now back in school now (started April 12). We are thinking this might be a delayed reaction to the vaccine. The only other thing I can think of is if he is picking up bugs from the kids in school. When we first started dating and I worked at a daycare he got sick a lot until he built up his immune system.
Everything that I've read suggests that this is too far out for a vaccine reaction. BUT...my son got a fever, chills, some aches about 1.5 weeks out from his first Moderna vaccine. Two COVID tests came back negative (he's tested weekly at school, and I went there and took him for a PCR test when symptoms started). The doctor also ran strep and mono tests which were negative. He had this for about a day and a half and was suddenly better. He's in college, but is in his room most of the time with no in-person classes. He very well could have picked up a virus of some sort, but it is a similar time period to your dh.

Yes, it happens, and has been documented in the studies. It’s not uncommon.

Any of the typical side effects, including fever, fatigue, nausea, pain at injection site, muscle soreness, etc., have been documented to happen long after after a vaccine shot, more so with the 2nd shot.

The human body takes at least two weeks to develop protection from the COVID vaccine, and so symptoms can show up any time during those weeks post vaccination.

My half-day of symptoms didn’t show up until day 8 after the first shot.

I quoted you initially because you gave a possibly misleading information that the fever is probably from something else. Could it be? Literally anything is possible. But, as I said, it’s been documented that side effects—including fever—can happen weeks after since the body is still developing protection.

Absolutely! V-safe is intended to report ANY side effects. Has nothing to do with whether you personally feel they are unusual or not. You're just supposed to report them and on the backside they are collecting the data. VAERS is also a place to report if it follows under the guidelines. And they tell you on V-safe that depending on your responses someone from the CDC may contact you.

Stop that right there there was no misinformation. You failed to read the comment. I wasn't talking about a fever after a vaccine I was talking about it a fever after 1 1/2 to 2 weeks after the dose. This is all on you and your haste to respond to me in particular. Goodness me.

For the record if you had opted to actually pay attention to other people's comments you would have seen this:

"I'm pretty sure that's well outside the window for that sort or reaction. At this point, your husband has picked up something else."

And you want to say that I was misleading. If you have a personal problem with me best to PM me. Thanks!

Okay, last time I’m going to mention on this topic.
Any and all of the typical symptomsa—including fever!—occurring 1 to 2 weeks out is not unusual. Please, read the documented studies conducted and understand the basics of bioscience.

What is going on?? You seem to be picking on that poster for no reason they weren't even the first person to say it could be something else! I'm just as confused as they appear to be. Let's keep this thread on a better track, yes? :flower1: It's a good thread to keep going

I was a poster who said that maybe that person should consider another cause for the fever, versus it being vaccine side effects. While I don't have Pfizer's data in front of me, the CDC reports this:

Fever was more common after the second dose and in the younger group (15.8%) compared to the older group (10.9%). Overall, the median onset of systemic adverse events in the vaccine group in general was 1 to 2 days after either dose and lasted a median duration of 1 day.

While I suppose it's not out of the realm that a fever could come 10 days after a dose, I personally would call that unusual. Not rare, but I don't think it's usual based on the data that most systemic events occurred 1-2 days after the dose.

But that's good that you brought it up that it actually could be the vaccine. In my own layman's understanding, I would have never chalked up a noticeable fever at 10 days post vaccine as the vaccine causing it. I stand corrected.

People on the Dis keep saying any issues after 7 days post vaccine, it's not vaccine. The health issues are from some other cause.

Edit: or was it 7 days?

I would be more concerned about a fever lasting for more than a couple days rather than a fever occurring 1-2 weeks out.

My mom had her second Pfizer dose last Wednesday night. She had a fever Thursday and Friday. It got up to 102. She felt like she had the flu for several days. Today (Tuesday) is the first day she's kind of feeling like herself again. She is 75. She said she wasn't expecting to feel so awful.

Another topic:

First documented case of a man (in his 30’s) in the US developed blood clot two weeks after J&J vaccine.

https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/2021-04-Johnson-Johnson-blood-clot-UCSF-J-J-16129576.php

Example of why time is an important factor in everything pandemic.
Now, the J&J vaccine goes from “cases only happen in women” to “blood clots are 10 times more likely in younger women than men.”

I could be wrong, but I thought I heard there was a case reported in a male during the vaccine trial.

She sounds like a trooper though at her age  glad she's feeling better again or at least starting to.
