Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

I'm a little over 24 hours since my first Pfizer shot. At first I thought I just had a sore arm, but I did wake up today just feeling achy all over. Now mind you, I just had some pretty major surgery on March 4th and I had been taking acetominophin since then. I stopped it the day before the vaccine and didn't take any all day yesterday, so the lack of acetaminophin (Tylenol) and my body hurting from using a knee scooter could have been just a result of no meds. Finally about an hour ago, I just could not take it anymore and took some Tylenol. I feel a lot better. Even my arm feels pretty good. I do think my side effects were not only sore arm but body aches. I really don't think the body aches were related to the surgery. Just trying to convince myself it was not the vaccine!

DH got his first dose of Pfizer today. He was like a kid on Christmas.:lovestruc

I qualify now (ended up not getting into the Novavaxx study a few months ago) and I am FREAKING out.

Can anyone calm me down? I have been having LITERAL panic attacks since Friday when I found out. Like, not sleeping, having trouble breathing due to them.

I am T2 diabetic, controlled by diet and Metformin (last A1C was 5.1 or so). I am a recovering alcoholic that has done some damage to my liver and kidneys.

My dr wants me to get the shot. I have never had reactions to shots (or anything except tomato plants!). I just keep freaking out about contraindication between Metformin and the shot.

Anyone on here on Met and have had Pfizer and can give me some deets?

Or, chill me out. I am SO laid back, typically, and I have NO idea why this is causing me so much anguish the last few days! This is totally unlike me, so not sure what the deal is...

(I don't mean any kind of ugly in my response)

Have you researched the Pfizer vaccine and taking metformin outcomes? I did just know and read several articles that says taking metformin can be possible protective factor for those that may get covid. This is a positive for you getting the vaccine because taking metformin and having the vaccine really ups your protective status.

What is causing you to worry? I suggest you write down what can be the worst outcomes ever and then write down the realistic outcomes and then write down why the vaccine is so important to you and your family. After you have these down, think about what list has the highest impact on your life and future.

Realistically, you know, YOU KNOW that you will be okay. There is always a worry when doing something new. I'm facing this myself and have done all the list and still have anxiety about taking a new medicine that I need. It's human nature. Practice going to your zen place with breathing and thoughts every day for about 15 minutes. Practice every day before going to your vaccination time and then while in the lobby or car or whever waiting practicing your breathing and thinking and after the shot do it again. Reflect on why you are getting the shot.

You got this!

Just got home from getting my second Pfizer shot! I had to travel about 80 miles to get it (no availability in my immediate area), but I was fine with that. And the city I went to has a Krispy Kreme, so I celebrated by stopping by and getting a free glazed donut!

Well, since you are one of the coolest peeps I have ever "met" on the DIS, I know you are not being "ugly" in any sort of way 😁

I have researched...even looked on search engines outside of Google since some tell me Google will filter out "real news" 🤣

I have read that Met IS showing promising protection against Covid. I have a weird immune system and had a scary hospitalization last year that has left me with SO much anxiety and PTSD...I know that is where this stems from.

I can't even take my own temp anymore without feeling like I am going to pass out. Going to places where they take your temp before admittance is challenging.

I'm working through it, but my bff had an aquaintance of her family die last month 12 hours after his vaccination. Healthy 25 year old firefighter. So, it's SO heavy on my mind.

I just feel like a different person since my hospitalization...my anxiety is SO bad.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond ❤️

Reporting back in one day out from Moderna shot #!. Just a little tenderness at the injection site, and a little soreness with movement, but nothing worse than a flue shot. My friend got Pfizer shot #1 yesterday and she was a little too sore to work out, hurt her to lift her arm above her head.

I got my first dose on March 7th and get my 2nd does on Sunday. I have been taking Metformin for many years now (Type 2 Diabetic) I actually take 4 pills a day so I am at the maximum dosage. I have not had any symptoms at all and am very excited to get my 2nd shot. I am a little nervous about the 2nd because most people have reported side effects with the 2nd one but will be very happy to be done with it once it is over.

I had a minor panic attack while sitting in the chair afterwards for 15 minutes. It really is a mind over matter situation. Anxiety sucks but you CAN control it to some extent with your way of thinking.

And a Xanax !!! Which, by the way, was one of the drugs listed that MIGHT help fight against getting Covid !! If so, I am protected with the vaccine and Xanax !!!

I need to ask my doctor for some of that to keep on hand. I have some days where it's just a constant panic attack and it's exhausting. She prescribed me some several years ago and it all expired because I was too nervous to take it! True story...I didn't want to feel "drugged" because that feeling gives me a panic attack. LOL.

Talk to a doctor and look for a therapist. You may have PTSD. Seriously. Please reach out and get some help. You clearly endured a traumatic event and it is no wonder you have so much health anxiety.

Ive been on it since 9/11- I worked close to the Towers and after that day it became very hard taking the trains again, and just going into Manhattan every day to work- Just be careful with the dosage-- Not sure what color you had prior, but probably white or peach --
I gave my ex-boss a half of a blue pill years ago--- she had never taken one--- she said for a few hours she felt like a squid !!! :))

I needed a prescription of Xanax early in the pandemic. I had anxiety in my early 20s but over time I learned to deal with it. When the whole world shut down, including my business.....early on in the pandemic I had a full-blown panic attack and the craziest nightmares. My husband had nightmares too. I still have most of the script left, and I can attest to the fact that just having the prescription here....made me feel better early on. Knowing it was there if I felt like I needed it....helped.

It is also an effect from having Covid.

I'm trying ❤️ I'm such a closed book...I'm bettering myself and therapy is on the horizon.

That person did not specifically say they were hospitalized for Covid.

You are correct...not Covid. Due to alcoholism. Haven't had a drink since!

I got my first dose of Moderna 3/2. Second dose scheduled for next Monday (3/30), but I have landed myself in the hospital with osteomyelitis, and the doctors said I shouldn't get the vaccine with an active bacterial infection, so it could be a month or two until I get dose 2. I am so bummed! I was really looking forward to seeing a couple more people

Hang in there, AMW. You'll get that second dose before you know it. Main thing is you got that first one. :thumbsup2
