Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

I’m not caught up in the thread but wanted to post this in case it helps people that are looking for vaccine appointments. Last night my beagle woke me up at 2am because of the storms then I could not get back to sleep so I started googling around about vaccines in my state. I found the CDC site that lists what pharmacies are doing vaccines in each state. I checked CVS and Kroger main websites and clicked “schedule a vaccine” and there were TONS of open slots the following week. I registered and then in the morning checked again and the appointments were all full. I wonder if the times are released after midnight? It reminds me of staying up for the dining and package deals in case they drop. I’m registered with my state but they are slow slow slow and I honestly didn’t know that you could schedule off the main websites of the pharmacies that are working in your state. Sorry if people already know, but wanted to post in case it helps someone.
I thought I read somewhere that Walmart releases theirs at midnight

Wanted to thank you for prompting me to do some googling. Silly me, I kept checking our health department website for info on when vaccines for my group would be available. Apparently that info is outdated. 16 and up opens up April 5th!

They are allowed to charge an "administration fee".

I figured that was probably the case, but if they would've asked for his insurance info, I'll bet our insurance would've covered that.

Paid nothing at CVS, but I did give medicare and my work insurance. It's my understanding nobody pays actual money. Your insurance gets charged and if you don't have insurance there's some federal program.

That's what I thought too. Oh well.

Has anyone who has had a vaccination at a retail pharmacy been charged a fee? My 18 year old (who is eligible because of an autoimmune condition) went to Walgreen's and they charged him about $2.50. I asked him if they asked for his insurance info because if they were charging some type of fee, I think it would've been passed onto our insurance, but he says in the form he filled out, it didn't ask about insurance info nor did they ask to see anything. Just thought that was weird considering when any of us get vaccines at the doctor's office there is no co-pay and when we've gotten flu shots at retail pharmacies, not only do we not pay a dime, but they've given us gift cards. I was just curious if our Walgreen's doesn't know what they're doing because they just started offering vaccines yesterday (like forgetting to ask about insurance info) or if something is different about the Covid vaccine. It's a minimal amount, so it's not about that, just haven't heard of anyone else having to pay anthing.
I got my first shot at Walgreens (in Atlanta) and there was no charge at all.

You should request your money back. Per the CDC:

COVID-19 vaccination providers cannot:
  • Charge you for the vaccine
  • Charge you directly for any administration fees, copays, or coinsurance
  • Deny vaccination to anyone who does not have health insurance coverage, is underinsured, or is out of network
  • Charge an office visit or other fee to the recipient if the only service provided is a COVID-19 vaccination
  • Require additional services in order for a person to receive a COVID-19 vaccine; however, additional healthcare services can be provided at the same time and billed as appropriate

Have posted pieces of this on different threads, so I apologize in advance for anybody this is cross posted for.

DD17 got her vaccine at CVS today. They required ID & her insurance (which they both entered in their system and confirmed with our insurance company). She also got her CDC card. 6 hrs post vaccine and she’s tired and just said her arm is starting to get sore. But otherwise good.

DH & I found out yesterday we both qualify. He gets his Monday and I get mine Thursday. Yesterday I wasn’t sure how we qualified, but realized today Kaiser expanded their eligibility to include overweight, not just obese. So yay for the archaic BMI scale and the 5 Covid pounds I can’t drop that put me over! DH’s job also is considered essential now (within Kaiser’s system). 🤷‍♀️

Got my second dose on Thursday (Moderna). I basically slept all day Friday. My biggest symptom was fatigue. I was experiencing a small amount of nausea and arm soreness, but those seem to have subsided for the most part. I was just surprised how tired I felt after the shot.

Got my 1st Moderna vaccine on Thursday, 2nd one in April, I should be good to go by May 1st! :yay::cool1::banana: I am just so happy. They are becoming more and more available, I got mine at pharmacy and they said to call at 3:00 that's the time they finish administering vaccines for the day. If there are any left and you call you may luck out?

Was this CVS? I noticed that no one was waiting at the CVS I went to. My appointment was at 3pm. There was one person ahead of me and they were kept waiting until I was seated and then the tech came out and did both of us one after the other. I could see the check in and no one else arrived. But - a guy had come up without a vaccine appointment and he was turned away after I had sat down. We were seated about 10 feet away from the check in and everything could be heard and seen. In fact, the guy in front of me was also asking vaccine questions and both looked to be in the age group, or quite close to it.

The one thing I didn't observe was the actual vaccine vial other than the tech walked out holding a small tray with the stuff on it. Now I'm wondering would I have seen whether there were more vaccines in the vial? Due to anxiety I didn't look at the needle or the tray closely - eyes forward, get it over with!
