Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

Was this CVS? I noticed that no one was waiting at the CVS I went to. My appointment was at 3pm. There was one person ahead of me and they were kept waiting until I was seated and then the tech came out and did both of us one after the other. I could see the check in and no one else arrived. But - a guy had come up without a vaccine appointment and he was turned away after I had sat down. We were seated about 10 feet away from the check in and everything could be heard and seen. In fact, the guy in front of me was also asking vaccine questions and both looked to be in the age group, or quite close to it.

The one thing I didn't observe was the actual vaccine vial other than the tech walked out holding a small tray with the stuff on it. Now I'm wondering would I have seen whether there were more vaccines in the vial? Due to anxiety I didn't look at the needle or the tray closely - eyes forward, get it over with!
I looked at cvs near us and they had tons of appointments. I didn’t even realize that. I assumed they were gone because Publix in our county goes quick

One of my employees received #2 Moderna on Feb 26, and tested positive for Covid on March 18. Oof. Her symptoms seem to be mild, but enough that she decided to get tested. Her infant son tested positive as well.
How’s the infant doing? That’s the main thing we’re worried about with having a 10 month old

I've gotten both Moderna shots. Most of my friends, who are in their mid to late 60s, have gotten their first shot of Pfizer. My younger friends are hoping to be vaccinated as soon as they can be. My friends and I have reservations for Thanksgiving week at Disney, so they really want to get vaccinated. We'll be a group of 11. As it stands now, we plan to get a premade turkey and sides from Publix for Thanksgiving, we have plenty of room to dine in our rooms, a Grand Villa and a two bedroom at OKW. Hopefully the vaccines will be approved for use on teens by then, too, as there is a 13 yo and 12 yo in our group.

My cousin, who is 64 and had breast cancer surgery two years ago, has been unable to make an appointment for the vaccine in her area.

Have posted pieces of this on different threads, so I apologize in advance for anybody this is cross posted for.

DD17 got her vaccine at CVS today. They required ID & her insurance (which they both entered in their system and confirmed with our insurance company). She also got her CDC card. 6 hrs post vaccine and she’s tired and just said her arm is starting to get sore. But otherwise good.

DH & I found out yesterday we both qualify. He gets his Monday and I get mine Thursday. Yesterday I wasn’t sure how we qualified, but realized today Kaiser expanded their eligibility to include overweight, not just obese. So yay for the archaic BMI scale and the 5 Covid pounds I can’t drop that put me over! DH’s job also is considered essential now (within Kaiser’s system). 🤷‍♀️
That's great news! Can you help me figure out how I can schedule a vaccine for my husband? We are in the Sacramento area and have Kaiser too. All we keep getting are their emails updating where they are with vaccine roll out and if you can get it somewhere else, do it, lol. I had looked up CDPH website to figure out the underlying conditions group(he is 54 and obese according to BM)-but the guidelines say you must have a BMI equal to or above 40. He also has hypertension but that is not included in the list of qualifying heart conditions.

It seems all the Northern state CVS stores are fully booked. But, Florida has consistently had appointments available in the eastern half of the state for the last week or so. I've been looking at them for a friend. And, if you happen to want a vaccine and you are in or close to the state of Mississippi, all 6 CVS stores are showing availability. They are also saying 16+ and over can get a shot so it must also be JandJ.

Another note: some CVS stores listed such as NJ and NY it is noted that you must live work or go to school there to qualify, but most locations don't have this proviso.

I was able to go to another state, 8 minutes drive, and got my shot. Everything was locked up tight in my area, but as soon as that evening and the next day I started getting invitations from my sign ups to get an appointment.

It's moving faster. Who knows? You and hubby may be fully vacc'd by the time your trip rolls around if you take JandJ. After reading up on it and realizing that it was tested later with the variants in play, I became very comfortable with getting Jand J.

This from a 68 year old who has NEVER taken a flu shot out of needle fear. Ridiculous, I know. On the other hand I've rarely been sick other than sinus and my self imposed comorbidities - type 2.

After checking and checking and checking my husband and I finally got an appointment and were able to get our Pfizer shot this past Thursday.
We both had sore arms and I was completely exhausted half the day yesterday. Today I seem to be ok. We have our 2nd shot scheduled the week before I'm due to go on my Disney trip redo from the February shortest trip ever due to my getting injured during it.

Sure! Have him update/fill out the “e-visit” for the Covid vaccine on the Kaiser website. On there it will ask what industry he works in and the next page asks about any conditions that could lead to a severe case of Covid and they list a bunch (I’ll post screenshots here). Finish the e-visit; it says it updates overnight. Some people get emails the next morning, but I have a friend who didn’t so just called in. We ended up calling in later the same day we updated it and they said we qualified. If you have any trouble, DM me. Let me know if it works!

You should request your money back. Per the CDC:

COVID-19 vaccination providers cannot:
  • Charge you for the vaccine
  • Charge you directly for any administration fees, copays, or coinsurance
  • Deny vaccination to anyone who does not have health insurance coverage, is underinsured, or is out of network
  • Charge an office visit or other fee to the recipient if the only service provided is a COVID-19 vaccination
  • Require additional services in order for a person to receive a COVID-19 vaccine; however, additional healthcare services can be provided at the same time and billed as appropriate

Thanks for the info. Well, there is no way DS is going to go into Walgreen's and ask for his $2.50 back, lol, but I would do it if it had been me, just on principal.

Don’t have all the specifics, however, a friend stated she is out of bed for the first time since last Friday. She has severe delayed reaction from her first Pfizer shot. This was via email and she was going back to bed, so couldn’t ask questions. However, this was 1.5 weeks after receiving the vaccine.

Anyone here of this experience? She does have health issues, so may the combination? Or, it’s her health conditions that she is saying is vaccine related. At any rate, she won’t be getting her 2nd shot. She is 70 years old, if that makes a difference.

Thank you for this, I wasn't even aware of it! I just completed mine and qualify with overweight status(according to BMI), it's worth a shot anyway. I will have to persuade my husband to fill it out but I'm more worried about him getting Covid. Thanks again. It makes me feel like I'm doing something instead of just patiently waiting for them to open up to 50+ here in CA.

What is her symptom(s)?
There are reports of rash and/or sore arm up to two weeks after the shot.

Definitely try calling in later today or tomorrow. Overweight BMI was my only qualifying thing on their list. DH did fill out his own e-visit since he has his own account, but they allowed me to book appts for both of us when I called.

I got my first Pfizer shot at CVS yesterday. They didn't even ask for my ID or insurance card. I had entered everything during the scheduling process and all I had to do was click a link that they texted me 5 minutes before the appointment that I had arrived. I was honestly kind of surprised they didn't even ask for my ID, but whatever.

My arm is slightly sore, but that's it. My 16 y/o son goes to the same CVS Monday morning for his first shot.

From the conversation being had with the observation nurse afterwards, that CVS location was doing 200 shots per day but they were trying to get up to 500/day, but they said not enough people know about them having vaccines available so they can't scale up yet. Their directive from the Fed Govt is "get shots in arms" so it makes sense that they didn't do much gatekeeping about proving eligibility. I registered as a healthcare worker, and at no point in either the registration process or the check in process was I asked to provide any proof.

So, I'm not saying to lie, but if you live in CA, CVS (at least) is NOT verifying eligibility under ANY category. Appointments get loaded just after midnight so if you check then, you'll find one.

FWIW, I *do* qualify under 1A according to the state of Ca definitions for caregivers of family members with developmental disabilities, but I was all prepared with a letter and medical documentation and I didn't need it.

She didn’t say what her symptoms were but stated she has been in bed for a week now. She said its the sickest she’s ever been. Thinking it’s more than a rash and sore arm.

Has she been to a doctor? She might actually have covid...

Where DH & I received shots, NJ mega site, there was someone on a loudspeaker stating to have your ID out and available the whole time you were there. You would need it at various checkpoints, as well as your QR code that was provided for your appointment.

I went to an Alabama mass site earlier this week. I’m from Georgia but Alabama will vaccinate anyone who falls into their priority lists which my job was included. My appointment was at 10:30. Sign in the parking lot said to remain in your car until within 10 minutes of appointment time.

I walked in the door at 10:20, received it at 10:24 and released at 10:39. Big room where everyone got to sit around waiting for their 15 minutes. If I had to guess, I was one of 50 in there who had all received it within minutes.
