I'm a US History Teacher so this will always be an important date professionally and personally. I tweeted a pic to my kids this morning and we briefly discussed. We are testing today on WWI so our conversation had to be cut short but it was a great tie to in our upcoming WWII chapter.

That was 55 years before my time.

But I have a distant cousin wounded at Normandy who died a few days later. He is buried in France. None of my direct ancestors fought. They were either too old, too young, or too sick.

My dad was a WWII vet. They are doing s ceremony at the cemetery in town today to honor all WWII vets. I would've liked to go but I have work today.

I can say that once I saw the date I knew what happened but I didn't think of it before seeing something online.

Unlike Sept 11 which I do think of immediately when seeing the date. But I was alive for that one.
