Have you ever walked out of a restaurant after being seated???

We've left for plenty of reasons, including the price.

Only once. My ex-boss was taking my friend & me out for lunch at Christmas time a few years ago. We went to a nice restaurant near the office that we all liked. Of course, it was terribly busy, but she spoke up & got us a table. Well, even after we got the table, no-one came near us. We got up & left.

Yes we did also. DH was embarrased and I almost had to drag him out but yes we did. We have a chinese restaurant down the street from our house that we often went to. We noticed that they had a new owners. We went in and saw no changes to the decor just the menu prices. Same food same menu but much higher prices. They just wrote over the old prices. :confused3

When we were leaving the manager/owner actually chased after us asking us what was wrong. I could see the fear in DHs eyes dreading what I would say. :rotfl2: I simply told him that they were overpriced and continued to walk out.

Yep that was my reason too except the cockroach was on OUR table and it was crawling....I had no appetite at all at this point so we went home.

That would require many years of expensive therapy to get over for me LOLOL!!!

I have a sensitive stomach for that sort of thing and would have probably thrown up, right then and there. Really. :scared:

Good for you! That's exactly what people should do. It's called direct feedback. You could have eaten there and then not returned, but I think it's better for the restaurant to know right away what you think about the price increase. How tacky for them to write over the old prices. They should have waited for the new menus at least.

We had a Thai restaurant near us and the owners moved to Florida. For some reason they forgot to invite us :( and the new owners changed the menu and the quality went down. We ordered once and haven't been back. We really should have contacted them to tell them about the quality difference and why we weren't returning. And we were good, regular customers. I sure miss those other owners!

I've walked out of an Olive Garden because I sat down and nobody came to the table. After about 10 minutes, I told DH they had 10 more minutes to send someone over here. Nothing. So, we got up and left. We made a stop at the front to see the manager and told him he could seat some of the many waiting people because there was an empty table over there. He tried to get us to stay, but I was over hungry and too annoyed. He gave us a gift certificate, but we've never been back except for take out.

Wow-- that's more patience than I have. I get angry when I sit *5* minutes and no one has come by. I feel like someone should at least acknowledge that you're sitting there with a "I'll be right back to get your drink order" or something.

PS In all my years I have never eaten at the Diamond Grille. Now that you mentioned it I will have to give it a try! :)

I haven't eaten there for about 10 years, but it used to be yum, yum, yummy. There was a steak place in the Falls, too. It's name had something to do with horses.

Once, I made my DH get up and leave the Eat n Park after I visited the restroom. It was so disgusting it made me gag, literally, and we have never been back.

Plenty of times, for different reasons.
We also walk into restaurants look over the menu and then walk out (before being seated). We have dietary issues.

We walked out a few weeks ago at Chili's. DH and I were having some "grownup time" for lunch and they seated us at a small icky table with screaming kids all around us.
Normally that would not have bothered us at all but we wanted something more "grownup" and we got up, left and didn't say a word.

The ambiance was not what we needed at the time. Nothing to do with the restaurant doing anything wrong.

This is why Disney's policy of posting the menu at the door should be standard everywhere.

We have this really great pizza restaurant that was in one building for as long as I can remember. They recently moved to a brand new building. As we're regular customers (usually for take-out), we thought we'd try out the dine-in part. We sat there for 20 minutes while two of the servers discussed the upcoming prom, another sat with her friends, and the fourth sort of stood in the middle of the room looking dazed until her friends showed up. Then it was all hugs and kisses. It appears the new restaurant has turned into nothing but a hang-out for the local teens. We finally got up and left.

Maybe the boss wasn't there or maybe teens are the clientelle they want. In any case, we've decided to find another pizza place. If too many people feel the way we do, they're going to be selling that brand new building before you know it. It's too bad.

I can only remember walking out of a restaurant twice, both times on a Boston to Texas road trip we took some years ago. The first was a waffle house in Mississippi that had grease literally dripping down the walls behind the grill area. The second was an Applebees in Louisiana. I was a vegetarian at the time and they did not have anything vegetarian on the menu, and would not make anything meatless for me (this was a while ago, I am sure things have changed).

We were seated, and then totally ignored for over 15 minutes. We'd had enough, so we left.

Twice!

Once for the price like OP, and once because we waited 15 min at our table with 3 starving kids, near empty restaurant and were completely ignored :(

Yeah once when no server showed up after a while. Stopped at the podium on the way out to tell her why and she got the manager who offered to comp the meal (that we had not had the chance to order). We declined.
