Have you ever walked out of a restaurant after being seated???

My DH & I walked out of a TN Cracker Barrel once (of all places!). We were seated and ordered OK, but when our food came there was no silverware. There wasn't any we could get off another table, and our server was busy gabbing in the back with all the other servers and never came back to check on us - I went looking for someone, anyone to get us some and finally the cashier said she'd have them bring us some right away, but never did, so my soup and DH food was sitting for about 15-20 mins and we just looked at each other and left.

The funniest thing was an old man at another table had tied his napkin to his knife and was waving it in the air trying to get some server attention! He looked like he ran up the white flag and surrendered -Oh well, at least he had some silverware! :rotfl2:

hehe, funny story.

I have many times. Always before I have ordered though.

I try and always read the menu before I choose a restaurant because I am picky about what I eat. Well for Valentines my husband told me he read the menu. We get to the restaurant and yeah he read it to see if it had something HE would like. We ended up walking out. I am not going to pay to sit there and not eat. We have never walked out over price, just menu choices from what I can recall.

Good for you! Vote with your wallet...:)

We've left after being ignored. That's happened at least three times. On one of those occasions, I ordered Coke and they said they had Pepsi. I asked for something else and she brought me Pepsi anyway. After waiting so long for her presence to begin with, we just left after the drinks came.

Poor service is my number one pet peeve - my husband was in the restaurant business for nearly 20 years. And I don't mean in the weeds bad service either. Our opinion is - if you can't bother with me in a timely fashion (under 10 minutes once seated) then I can't bother to give you my hard earned cash.

As a matter of fact, I just walked out of a Gordon Biersch Restaurant today.

I had a reservation and yet I was seated at the absolute worst table in the restaurant - right next to the kitchen door - every time it opened (and it opened a lot) I could feel the slam in the back cushion. It was very crowded so I let that pass.

What actually caused me to walk out was that 45 minute after I had placed my ordered I was still waiting for my meal. So what is the proper etiquette when leaving after you've been served a drink? I paid for the drink but not the meal and no tip.

I have been in that position, but me and my wife are both wimps and usually stay. The outcome is usally a bad meal. I have never left because of prices, because we usually do casual dining any way.

There were a few occassions where the place didn't look that great after we walked in, but were too embarassed to leave.

Next time I'm walking out.

We walked out not long after being seated, the waitress went to seat a few more couples than proceeded to wait on them never returning to us. We have never been back.

We walked out once in a restaurant, all 5 of us sat down and looked at the menu. There was nothing on the menu that was appealing at all to us and yet we had heard how great the place was. We had already been given water and we looked at the kids and said that we were leaving, they were mortified :confused3 thinking how could they just get up and walk out, but that is exactly what we did. Usually we check out the menu ahead of time but because we had been told how good it was it didn't even enter our minds.

Our children still talk about how embarrased they were that day :rotfl:

My son and I went to Mama Melrose's for dinner one night and we were seated really quickly. The waitress came and took our soda order very quickly. We finished our soda and waited, and waited and waited.
We really were in the mood for some good old fashioned Spagetti and meatballs, and lasagna but there was nothing on the menu that was what we wanted.
We were going to get something else though and we waited, and waited....
I asked another waitress if she could find our waitress, I went to the seaters and asked them if they could do something.
After about an hour we left $4 on the table for the soda and walked out.
We drove over to Olive Garden. I know, not the best but my son loves their lasagna and I can always find something there to eat. Peggie

Yes, but not because we didn't like the menu. Because there was a HUGE cockroach next to our table. :crazy2:

Yep that was my reason too except the cockroach was on OUR table and it was crawling....I had no appetite at all at this point so we went home.

Yes, for that same reason. CHOKE.

We open the menu and nothing on there for UNDER $35. We had to leave.

Never because of price. I will always check a menu ahead of time before suffering that embarrassment!

I have walked out of a few places when a waiter hasn't even looked our way after we have been seated for a while.

On my honeymoon, we were in Cancun and went to Senor Frogs. We weren't familiar with this restaurant, and after we got our cokes they rang a bell, and a man began going about the room stradeling women and pouring some strangely shaped teapot in their mouth...

I looked at my brand-new husband and said I didn't want that, it would make me uncomfortable, so we left a few hundred pesos (couple bucks) on the table and left.

Not the experience you picture on a honeymoon...

My dad and myself went to restaurant in a different town than we live and were told by the waitress we were the wrong color to be in this restaurant and don't expect to be served. We sat for 30 minutes just to piss her off and then left when no one in the place would serve us. We're both white by the way.

We've left restaurants a couple times now. We've always left for terrible service -- having to wait forever for the server to take our order when the place is EMPTY is ridiculous!

Never because of the prices, if it’s a new restaurant especially if it has valet parking I try to see a menu before we get seated. This way we know if they even serve anything we would enjoy there, however once we get seated we have never walked out without ordering.

Being vegetarian we usually look at a menu at a new restaurant before ever being seated. There probably have been a couple times that we have been seated at restaurants that we thought we wouldn't have problems ordering at that we ended up leaving because of lack of selection, but it's been years. I do remember many years ago leaving a restaurant because of roaches in the restroom. :crazy2:

Yep - we went to Perkins for breakfast. The server came to ask us about drink orders and was coughing a yucky, obviously sick with something cough. We left and told the manager why. It was gross.
