Have you ever used Zicam?

Does it work?? I'm coming down with a cold or allergies and need a "quick" fix!! I'm subbing 'til the end of the year (next week ) in a 5th grade class and just can't afford to get too sick!!!

I've used Zicam and zinc lozenges without much luck. But I'm prone to sinus infections so I'm not sure anything would help me when I start coming down with one. I did use Zicam and zinc lozenges last week when I felt a scratchy throat coming on and didn't get sick but I have concluded that I was having a reaction to the smoke coming up from Mexico. (They burn their fields this time of year and the smoke migrates to the Texas Gulf coast. It's awful!) But, hey, it didn't turn into a sinus infection so maybe it did help.

Can't hurt to give it a shot. Hope you manage to stay well through the end of the "year".

Kitty, I have used it and it only works if you catch the cold at the beginning. I used it this winter when I started to get my usual "stress cold" that I get every few years, and while my cold was fairly bad, I wasn't laid up as long as I usually am. With that bad cold I get now and then, I am not well for about 2 weeks and this year it was knocked down to 4 days (with a lingering cough for a few after). Not sure if I did anything else different but it seemed to help shorten the duration and lessen the effects for me. I think it is worth a shot

WOW, Aprille......I would have such a problem with that smoke!!! We have neighbors that every now and then must clean out their garage and basement and burn everything!!! I can always count on getting sick when they do that!


Thanks Elaine for your info!! I know what that "stress" cold is all about being a sub!!!

Both my wife and I used it this winter and within a day we both felt better and within a couple of days didn't feel the effects of the cold at all.
