I'm thinking about signing up. If you've tried it, did you like it? Did it work for you? What didn't you like about it? How fast did you lose weight. I have 20lbs to lose. I want to lose it by day after tomorrow... is that a reasonable goal? (I'm just kidding...:teeth: ) Seriously, though, I'd appreciate any insight you can offer. Thanks!

Hi there! I am a big Weight Watchers fan. It was very successful for me, and I had a lot to lose. I lost 70 pounds in 8 months, that was two years ago. I am still following the maintenance program and am having no problems staying at my desired weight. Everyone is different, but to me, there was no downside at all about WW. You can eat what you want so you have all the variety in the world, no special diets, etc. I think it is a great program.

I used their online program for about four months before getting pregnant with baby #4. I really liked it and enjoyed using the points system because it really helped me think a lot harder about what I ate before I ate it. I lost about 12 lbs. in those 4 months and plan on returning to the program once the baby is born. To me, it was more of an education about better food choices than a diet-but I think that's why it worked for me.
When I do go back, I will probably attend meetings too this time. My sister wants to do it with me.

WW is great. It's the only diet that worked for me. I lost 33 lbs. 3 years ago. I have kept it all off until just recently. I haven't been counting points or going to meetings, and I put on about 7 lbs. I am going back on the program because summer is coming and I want to look good. ;)

I totally believe WW is the way to go. There are no foods that are "off limits". It teaches you to make the right food choices and is very easy to follow. It's not a "quick" fix, you lose weight slowly but, as long as you follow the program it stays off. I'm not currently at my "goal" weight as I became a slacker but, soon as I get my mindset in order I'm going back on WW.

Also, there is alot of great WW support sites. WW itself has a website with a great on line chat. Also, check out
www.dottisweightlosszone.com. She has one of the best WW sites out there plus links to other sites and great inspirational stories.

Good Luck on whatever you decide.

I think WW is a great program and one of the more balanced/healthy diets out there.

I did it a few years ago and lost some weight and I'm back on it again to take the remaining weight off. It's coming off slow, partially because I'm getting older and my Mom always told me that the older you are, the harder it is to lose weight. Was she ever right!

Good luck, you can do it!::yes::

I tried it before, but I didn't do well with it! It seemed like I was starving all the time, cause the points get used up so quickly!

Ya'll haven't had that problem???

I like WW very much; I agree with their idea of eating (no foods off limits, watch portions, increase fruits/veggies/fiber, exercise more). I need to go back on it as a matter of fact. About ten years ago I did it and lost 30 pounds within 3 months. Granted I was 21 and was taking 3 exercise classes at once in college that semester, but it really helped me gain perspective on my eating habits. And if you choose the right foods for your points, you can eat a LOT. My parents both did WW a couple of years ago- Dad lost 70 pounds and mom lost 55. Mom recently went back on it cause she gained about 10 or so back...Dad has kept about 60 off. I am considering going back on the plan too, although online. I think the meetings help a lot because you are accountable to that scale at the meeting!!!

Yep...read my siggie at the bottom.

I lost the first 40 pounds in 6 months...now i seem to go up and down. I haven't gone to a meeting in awhile so as soon as I'm back from Disney (we leave in 2 days) I'm back to the meetings big time.

As for being hungry all the time..not a problem. I stuck to as many 0 point foods that I could. I was actually eating more food because I was eating so many salads and veggies.

The hardest part was measuring everything. portion size is a major point in the program.

Another WW here!

Come check out the WISH board, right here on the DIS. WISH is We're Inspired to Stay Healthy...

You'll find lots of Weight Watchers there, ready to offer support and answer your questions. There are also lots of folks following low carb plans like Atkins and South Beach, as well as other plans.

The key is that we're all trying to adopt healthier habits and get in shape, mostly by eating right and exercise. (Some are lots better about exercising than others! )

Anyway, hop over to the WISH board and check it out...

I lost 30 lbs. following the WW program and have had no problems keeping the weight off. I also dropped my cholesterol over 40 points which was an added bonus that I wasn't expecting. It's great because nothing is off limits, so I could eat whatever I was making for the family.

Wow! Y'all are great! Thanks for all the good info. I'm trying to get a friend to go with me, but I think I'm going to do it. I have got to find a good method of exercise, too. I bought a treadmill thinking that would be great, but my heels started hurting badly after about 2 weeks of using it. I think I have heel spurs. Sigh. But I'm psyched to get going. Thanks again! And I'll scoot over to the WISH board, too!

I LOVE WW!! I lost 10 pounds with it!

I lost 60lbs in 9mos the first time, got pregnant and had the baby and still fighting to lose. Back on and lost 7lbs in 5wks. I attend meetings and walk.

No problems with foods, but if you aren't eating right....you can use the points quick. I do eat a lot of veggies and lunches are Lean Cuisines, WW meals or Healthy Choice (soups or meals) mostly. I eat a 2-3 pt breakfast daily too. Never used to eat breakfast at all.

The best part, can have anything....just limited amounts. I can safely have 4 beers a night if I work it in the points. I like my beer and wine. One light beer =2pts.

Debbiescorner.com is another site to visit. Good Luck!

WW didn't work for me but I started Dieting on my own and then 3 weeks ago I went ahead and joined Diet Center. I am down 30 pounds since this time 2 months ago. 12 of the 30 are from Diet Center in the last 3 weeks.

I love it because my leader is literally like a friend. I can call her and ask her anything. She is SUPER. I also like the one on one counseling you get. Instead of in a group like with WW we meet for about 20 minutes twice a week one on one and she addresses my questions and what I need. Different people have different body syles so they need different foods.

It is definatly teaching me to eat right and the supplements have me feeling better than I have in a long time. They balance your blood sugar and since I have hypoglacemia they are a God send.

I don't know people do wonderfully on different Diets but I'm loving this one! I'm NEVER EVER hungry because there is sooo much you are supposed to eat each day from the different food groups. Plus they have some foods that are so yummy for the sweet cravings, Blueberry, Strawberry and Chocolate Cheesecake and Key Lime Pie, Cookies, Muffins, you name it!!!!

I love my diet and have no doubt that I'll reach my goal weight with this center. I haven't been this upbeat in a long time about getting this weight off. This is the one time I know I can do it!

My boss is on WW, she has lost 22 pounds in about four months. We lunch together a lot and she eats pretty normal food everyday! (Pollo Loco and Subway) She has her good weeks and bad weeks but likes the program. She is looking great. I should try it, too. Good luck to you.:D

my sister and I both joined and each lost about 24 pounds in 4 months. I thought it was a great learning experience. I had no idea how many points some foods had it was a real eye opener.
we also joined curves for women which i highly recommend,

I lost 70 pounds 2 years ago and have kept it off by following their mainence program and excercise regularly. I do splurge at times, but then go right back on the program. At most I gain 5 pounds and then lose it. Have been on 4 cruise and 4 trips to WDW since losing the weight. I feel better at 54 and am more active than I have been in 10 years.

I used to be very happy with their program...when we weighed and measured food with measuring cups, etc. I tried this points thing they have and HATED it! That was a few years back, and I haven't returned. They bring back the old system, I might go. LOL!

In 16 weeks I've lost 37 pounds. (See clippie below) ;)

I think WW is the most sensible plan as you can eat this way the rest of your life and, you should anyway. ;) And, no food is "off-plan" or considered "cheating", you just count those points/plan around them, whatever you need to do to splurge once in a while. And, gotta love those FLEX points! ::yes::

I've been using Leslie Sansone's Walk Away The Pounds videos, at home and, they've helped a lot! :sunny:

Good luck with your decision!
