Have you ever traded with a Jawa?

A Jawa is a desert droid trading people from Tattooine in the Star Wars universe. They are scavengers and droid dealers.

They're a star wars character. They're small, dressed in a kind of brown burlap robe with black faces. They pick up droids (like R2D2 and C3PO) to scavenge the shiny parts in the first Star Wars movie (confusingly named Episode 4), "A New Hope". Hope that helps!

Thank you! I now see a small pic at bottom of screen of what I'm assuming is a Jawa in an orange looking robe. They look creepy. LOL.

I traded with a jawa a couple of weeks ago. I had read all about them and was very excited. But I wanted to give something that was not listed on most sites. So, I ended up with a small, black Kylo Ren plastic figurine. One jawa wouldn't even look at me and walked on past. The other one looked at my KR, and acted very interested and took it to his handler. Together they looked it over and the handler gave the okay. So the jawa came back and traded a droid part.
It was a lot of fun. While I was there, it was hit or miss if the jawa's even looked at you let alone interact. Just be ready to be ignored because that's part of their act, I think?

We have traded pirate coins, shiny bead necklaces and even the Disney stickers they hand out. It all just depends. Just like sometimes a storm trooper won't come near you and another time they pose for pics.

We traded with the Jawas when they were at the Star Wars breakfast at Sci Fi Drive in a couple of years ago. We traded a pirate coin and received a small ring and traded a pen for a different pen. It was fun.

I didn't know the Jawa's traded when I first went, they REALLY wanted my R2D2 ears, but I wasn't going to give those up, haha! A handler came up to me and told me that they would trade if I had something else to give them, but I didn't have anything with me... so I folded my park map into origami and traded for a yellow hair tie. I still have the hair tie somewhere!

Me with the Jawa in January. There were 2 of them. Wish I had known they liked to trade! They are short! I'm 5'3"IMG_0128.JPG

I was about to ask how you found a taller jawa before you posted you were 5'3"! That must mean I'm taller than I think or I had shorter ones. Last time I check I was 5'10" and both of the ones I saw were about a foot shorter than me!

It is important to note that Jawa's do not always trade. When I went in Summer last year, they wouldn't trade with anyone. I wouldn't tell children in your party that they'll be able to trade, maybe just have something with you in case they are, and it'll make a magical moment for them :)

My daughters traded with them in October. My daughters were so excited to trade with the Jawas and thought it was so much fun. We had glow rings to trade and the Jawas loved those.

I wish I had known this, we were there in October! We are planning on going again this year so I will make sure we are prepared with some good trinkets in case we catch them trading. I wonder if they would be more inclined with SW themed items :scratchin

I thought my 4 yo was going to be intimidated. In general he is with characters and Jawas are a little creepy looking but the ones out with us were really not that much taller than him. He had a blast going back and forth between the two retrading what he had gotten. One also rummaged in my backpack ( I opened it to get things out and turned to give them to the kids). Definitely among the best character interactions we had at Disney.

We traded with the Jawas last September. My son is really into Star Wars so we ended up at the Launch Bay 3 times during our trip. They traded with us twice, but would not trade on the last night for some reason. I was thinking maybe they did not have anything to trade because we tried various items and were unsuccessful.
Before our trip, we went to Party City and bought a bunch of small party favors. Bead necklaces, tiny rubix cubes, maracas, a top, etc. We were able to get a bag full of small toys for less than $10 and the 4 kids in our groups had success trading (except the last night, as I mentioned). I even ended up giving a few items away to other kids who had nothing to trade.
Very fun experience and we got some great pictures!

For our last trip, I printed out small pics of Jawas and my girls decorated them with plastic jewels. I did warn them that they might not trade but that we could still give them as gifts.

We met two Jawas. One traded and the other did not, but we were told by the CM that the other did not trade. My daughters still gave them the bejeweled pics to both of them and the Jawas were very happy and so were my girls. The one that traded gave us a droid body that girls were happy to share because he didn't have anything else in his satchel.

My son traded a shiny piece of Mickey confetti for beads once! Shiny is definitely the key. They also tried to "steal" my purse while I was in the line for the Visa character meet because it had the metal chain for the shoulder strap ... they're sneaky ;)

Is it weird if an adult trades with them, or do they typically just trade with kids? I'm tempted to try this on my upcoming trip - I have the perfect thing to trade with them!
