Have you ever taken only your camera (no bag) into parks?

For me, it depends on the ride - but for the most part, I'll still go on the ride with my camera. My only complete taboo ride when carrying only my camera and no bag is Kali River Rapids. Mine's not weather-sealed, and I don't trust that little flappy area enough, so if I've got only my camera, I skip that one. For the roller coasters like Everest, BTMR, etc, I'll actually just hold onto it. They're not real fast rides, and I'll double-wrap the neck strap around my arm to ensure it isn't going anywhere...and it's fun to snap a few shots from those as well. I'm not a big fan of the superfast rides, so no problems there!

Usually, DSLR users don't get much problem with the camera warnings...it tends to happen more with compacts. Right or wrong, I think CMs assume DSLR users know cameras better and will know how to disable flash, whereas some P&S cameras on auto mode will fire the flash whenever it thinks its needed, and some folks may not know how to turn the flash off. Of course, this can just as readily happen with DSLRs in auto mode, but CMs usually give those a pass!

You must look more knowledgable than I b/c I've been given warnings before going on dark rides. When I have the A850 I find it particularly amusing.

I haven't taken my dSLR to Disney yet but I know I will carry a bag when I go for several reasons.

1- I will want at least a second battery and card or two (vests look dorky on me )

2- I will also be carrying my point and shoot with its battery and cards as well. I know it's overkill but for panoramas and fireworks etc. it will come in handy plus DH will use it at times and he doesn't carry a bag!!!

3- Carrying extra stuff which I always need like water bottle, meds, poncho, park itinerary info requires storage space.

I have several different camera bags and I just ordered the Mountainsmith Recycled Day Waistpack that can be used as a fanny pack (I know, ever so unpopular) or a shoulder bag or with shoulder straps attached.
