I can remember 2 times I discouraged my youngest DS from staying friends with someone. When you have valid reasons to be concerned, such as drugs, alcohol, or criminal behaviour, you have every right, as a parent, to nip a friendship in the bud.

No flames here. I think if I found out a "friend" of my DD was into drugs or something shady, I would absolutely very strongly discourage that friendship.
