Do you do it all the time? Just sometimes? Maybe just once?
Does it help you?

I never real thought about this. I know I've never scraplifted an entire page. I can think of maybe 1 or 2 elements I lifted an idea from maybe 6 yrs ago when starting out - like a border. I don't really even think to look at sketch ideas when designing a page.

Maybe it would help with my scrapper's block. Does it help you?

I do sometimes. It may be a few elements or a whole page. I get tones of ideas by seeing other peoples work. I also use sketches a lot but I don't necessarily use the pages like they are drawn. I turn the sketches sideways and upside down to suit my needs. Sketches help me a lot with scrappers block.
Good luck!!

I have scraplifted only once and it was the idea not really the layout. I saw an adorable page in a magizine once with a little boy with all the Princesses and it was titled "What a ladies man" I would never have thouhght to take my son's pictures with all the girls before I saw that. Now I have been 3 times since and I always get him with the girls and I come up with a new title or concept. The first year was "So many princesses... so little time", The next year was "I can't get enough" and this year was "Those Princesses sure love me!" That was his direct quote. I don't normally look at other ideas too often. I go with my own thing.

I often look at other's work to get ideas for my pages. I find that I get in a rut and all my pages start looking just alike, so I browse the galleries at several sites to get fresh ideas.

My name is Lisa and I am a scraplifter.:rolleyes1

I am constantly looking at layout formats to use in my albums. Be it from a magazine, sketches, etc. There are times though my layout looks nothing like the original, other times it is similiar.

Same here, I scraplifted the idea. I look at other layouts and really like the idea and use it somehow in a layout of mine. I could never copy someones layout, paper for paper, element for element, but that is just me. I wouldn't be able to match them up perfectly anyway! LOL

:)

I scraplift almost every single layout I make! When I start a layout, I grab my pictures and my Simple Scrapbook magazines and look for ideas.

I've scraplifted a few digitally. In fact, some of the digital scrapping forums have lifting challenges, where they encourage lifting. This lets you try new things and learn new skills that hopefully you will continue in your own pages.

You don't have to lift a LO exactly to be a lift, if you merely use a LO to get inspired, it could be considered a lift. Perhaps you only use the idea or color scheme or placement of photos, or perhaps you follow the original much closer. Sometimes the lifts look much different then the original, but they are still lifts. :)

Doing lifts is a great way to get some pages done while you are in a rut!

I've taken a whole page from Simple Scrpabooks, and there's a couple of others where I've found the mix of papers helpful - I get a bit :scared1: sometimes and end up with my paper stash growing and growing because I don't want to "waste" it - what else will I use it for ???? Using layouts in magazines helps me use the papers, and sometimes colour combinations - the CTMH ideas book is great for that. I've also used photos of swaps on here to work out how to use a particular embellishment sometimes, such as fibres - being a CMC if it ain't paper or stickers I shouldn't really use it ;)

Yup, I've scraplifted for digital challenges. It's good to get me thinking outside the type of style I usually scrap.

I have scraplifted several pages, including the most recent page I made (Disney title page). I also recently started using Becky Higgins sketches and LOOOVE them. They have really helped me create more pages.

I have found that if I'm in a rut looking through the gallery and magazines help me to come up with a page idea. I may not copy the full layout but it gets my brain motor pop started.

I do both...I have scraplifted whole pages, and I have just browsed for ideas....I love going over to 2peas & browsing there...I'm more likely to pick up ideas there.......

I have scraplifted ideas or pages. Sometimes I even scraplift my own pages if I'm in a real rut or I need to clear off my table! :rotfl:

I often need to scraplift when it comes to the layout of my pics otherwise every page thay end up in the same positions. So i love to check out other layouts to see different ways to crop photos or make them more interesting.

I think I have only scraplifted once, and even then I changed some stuff on that layout. I like to take ideas from various layouts like: a title from this one, an embellishment from this one, a caption from this one, and put it all together to make it my own!

My name is Elaine....and I am a scraplifter!!!

I too look at magazines and Two Peas...yes..sometimes they look similar but most times I end up combining a couple different elements from different layouts together to make it my own.

Nice to meet you ladies..... my name is Pamela and I am ALSO a scraplifter.

Not being particularly "arty" makes it necessary for me to scraplift.... especially layouts (maps). I can never seem to find that proper "visual triangle" and such, so I rely on BH Sketches most of the time!! I am also guilty of scrapping title ideas and lots of other things. I don't post my pages online, so I don't have to give credit, but I certainly WOULD give credit if asked. Scraplifting allows me to be more creative and get lots more scrapping done. And I feel no guilt!.....................P

What exactly are 'sketches'? I have heard the term but don't really understand what it is.... Can someone explain please?
