Have you ever regretted a DL trip.....

Well, sort of. I did a solo day trip in the rain, using an ECV.

1-I'm not really a 'solo' person
2-it was a cold rainy day
3-rain + ECVs +crowds aren't a good combination

I went with an upbeat attitude that seemed to melt away slowly. I pretty much got done what I wanted to do, but it began to be like a 'to do list' of chores rather than a fun runaround time. Then there was a 'guest' that flat out challenged my use of an ECV demanding (yes, literally) to know why I needed it. I'm relatively new to having to use one and I guess I wasn't moving fast enough navigating the line for him.

I vowed when I got back to my cousin's that I'd never do another solo day again, rain or shine. But that part of it is starting to 'wear off' and I'm thinking about Fall 2025, hopefully after the 'new' wears off Tiana & the HM construction is done.

In contrast, our recent trip to WDW was wonderful and although I'd estimated the crowd level as the same as my DL day, everyone was polite and friendly.

Never ever. Even a couple trips that were a little …weird for various reasons

If an attraction is down I’m always comforted by the fact that it means I’ll be back to see it later!

I would be mostly crushed if pirates was ever down for a trip. It’s the bane of Disneyland to me…but I wouldn’t regret being there and missing it vs not being there at all

I went the opening Weekend of Fantasmic a weekish ago

Park was packed, and my dinner reservation to the River Belle Terrace was over 30 mins behind and when I checked in was going to be another 15-40 min wait.

From this site and Reddit, I gather they over sold that dinning package so yeah while others were willing to wait...I just was already having a meh time at one of my favorite places so just left.

For sure will go down as one of my worst trips

If I may be permitted this slight deviation, this thread reminds me of an admonition my late Dad always related: "Son, always remember that the worst day fishing, is better than the best day at work!"

I have not ever personally. But with 4 kids and several animals at home, I think my days are never smooth so I always expect something to go wrong everywhere I go . That said, I would just reschedule if you can! If what you really want to see isn't open, it is easy to change dates (at least on the Disney side). Save your tickets if you can until things you want to do are open! Especially if you think you might not enjoy it and maybe will miss out on your favorites.

Nope. We went in February 2015, our son's first trip. And I'd never experienced so many closed rides/areas of the parks. But we still had fun.

Lol, that crossed my mind. But as some other Diser said, with the construction of DL Forward, there will be other closures. Besides, I'm not THAT upset about it. If I wasn't a Disney fanatic, I'd seriously consider it.

Not yet, but I'm having trouble staying enthusiastic about our upcoming July trip. I knew Splash would be down when I booked it, but didn't know about HM and Pooh. Just when I've adjusted to that, seeing that the DLH entrance may be closed is REALLY annoying. I've always been a "first in line at the gate" person, so hearing we might have to take another entrance after paying for that perk by staying at the DLH does not make me happy. I guess that's yet to be seen, though.

I'm not actually able to cancel this trip because my husband scheduled a business trip specifically so we'd be able to go. It will probably be great, but hopefully nothing else comes up on Disney's part to chip away at the magic.

Which entrance is the DLH entrance?

I think it’s natural to be bummed about things. Your mind has built up expectations around your trip and knowing certain things won’t happen can lead to inner debate.

Just go in with an open mind. You already “in the know” so you won’t be unpleasantly surprised. So, mix it up, wing it, and try something new! Explore a different way!

It may not be your best trip ever, but I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Case in point: we went to DLR Thanksgiving 2021. We were MaxPass lovers. We love to ride certain things multiple times (esp GotG). Well, that trip there was no max pass, no fast pass, just wait in line. I don’t have the patience I had when I was younger. No ride is worth 1 hour 30 minutes to me. And to make matters worse: IASW was shut down with flood, RSR was closed an entire day, and you had the typical breakdowns of Indy and Matterhorn.

So, we did what we could. We finally did the bread tour and Animation Academy. We took our time walking around and enjoying the little nuances we typically overlook. Was it our best trip? Uh, not going to lie … absolutely not. However, none of us regret going.

I believe they are referring to the DLH entrance to DTD which is rumored to be closing temporarily for a refurbishment into a dedicated entrance to DTD for DLH guests (Similar to the GCH gate to DCA and the PPH gate to DCA. I don't know how long it finally took us to do Animation Academy, but now it's a regular stop for us! We did some parts of that building before, but not the actual "draw it yourself" part. I have a long history of being laughed at whenever I try to draw anything, and deservedly so! But we went a couple of trips ago and now I wouldn't miss it! Such a nice break from the heat and the crowds, it's really fun, and it's a free souvenir!

Your tickets hold their value toward future tickets so you could wait. Tho- With Disneyland Forward and the like I have a feeling ride closures and construction walls are going to be a norm at DLR for the foreseeable future.

Our 2018 trip- I don't regret it per se.. but I was miserably uncomfortable most of the trip. It was the moment I realized I needed to change my health. I've lost 170lbs since then.

Last summer June 2023 my husband and I did a solo trip to WDW and we will NEVER go back to Orlando in the summer. Most my memories from that trip were memories of avoiding heat stroke.

No, not even our last trip before Covid, even though I ended up in the hospital (not Disney related) after only a half day. But it was a spur of the moment trip. We saw crowds were low - Galaxy's Edge had just opened and people were afraid of crowds, plus the park was bigger so the crowds were calculated differently - and we were all out of school - kids, teachers, and school OT - so I said, "Well, let's just go!". So we did! (Poor DH had to stay behind - he had a regular job, though he worked for himself, so he had a choice...)

We had such a lovely morning, (though my last ride was on Splash and my hair was plastered down with that icky water - and I had to live with it for 2 days before I could shampoo it yuck!) but it soon became apparent I was not right and DS took a break to drive me to the hospital, where I stayed the next 3 days..

My wonderful DS sent me lots of pictures and videos throughout the trip, one night a nurse sneaked me into the doctors' lounge cuz she thought I might be able to see the fireworks from there (but I couldn't - later a doctor told me I could see them if I walked up the stairs to the top level of the parking lot, which clearly he had done, but I really didn't want to take that trek in hospital garb lol. But yay, Anaheim Kaiser, even they have the Disney spirit!).

So, even though I missed most of the trip, I'm so glad we went - our 5th trip in a year, overkill for even us (we must have had season passes and of course we didn't need reservations) - then Covid shut everything down. So, you never know! We really got our Disney fill to tide us over.

I must have missed something, What is the DLH entrance? Does that mean the DTD entrance will be closed? How would people enter?

LOL, that's a great story! I mean, I'm really sorry you had to be in the hospital, but clearly the Kaiser folks were trying to make it as pleasant for you as possible!

I wonder whether the occasional fireworks they have at Great America are visible from Kaiser Santa Clara. Kaiser may be overlooking a marketing angle...

Our last trip was January 2023 and it rained literally every day we were there. It rained heavily many of the days. We thought about canceling before we left given we can only come every 1-2 years. Also, Indy was closed, Small World was closed, all of Toontown was closed, Grizzly run was closed. There were no parades or Fantasmic. Fireworks ended up being canceled each night.

You know what? It ended up being one of our favorite and most memorable trips ever. We did so many things and experienced so much. We had more than we could possibly do in 4 days. We did the Red Car Trolley and loved it. Watched shows in Avengers Campus we had never done. Rode the Omnibus. Watched the band. Rode TONS of rides and never had to wait long because crowds were low.

After that experience, HM and Splash being closed doesn't phase me. There's new things to experience I've never done before.
