My family (kids 4 & 8) will be visiting California for the first time. Here's our schedule so far:
June 4 - Hotel Del Coronado
June 5 - San Diego Zoo
June 6 - Take Amtrak from SD to Anaheim, Staying at DLH Concierge until June 12 - Fly out of LAX to Ft. Meyers, FL
June 13 - 17 Disneyworld Old Key West Resort

The kids know about the California part, but not Florida. We're going to surprise them & see how long it takes before they firgure out we're not going back to Indiana from CA. Can you imagine thinking your vacation is coming to an end only to find out there's more to come? :wizard: I can't wait! :woohoo:

What a great trip!

We just took a trip with a twist last week, but it wasnt nearly as exciting as yours! We flew into long beach and told the kids we were there for daddys work. We told them we would find something fun to do in long beach. The first morning, after getting them dressed and ready for the day we told them we were going to Disneyland! They were very surprised.

never done this (can't keep a surprise) but I think it is a great idea. How exciting for your kids to find out they get to visit a different mouse....
and I think they are a perfect age to not catch on to your plans.

We were heading to Mexico for a week last year. My daughter thought that we were flying home with a layover in LA but no....we were going to Disneyland for 4 days! :bitelip: She didn't clue in until we pulled up in front of the Candy Cane Inn (and she was 15 at the time!). It was such fun... :Pinkbounc

In 2003, after 7 days at Disneyworld my then dd9 and ds5 thought we were driving to the airport to go home; but in reality we were driving to Port Canaveral for the 3 nights Disney Wonder cruise. They were both really sad at first because their wondreful vacation was ending but when they saw the ship, frowns turned into big smiles.

We've never really been able to surprise our kids with our disney trips. Your trip sounds amazing though. I'm sure your kids will be so excited. Please do a trip report when you get back and tell us how everything went. My kids love our trips and hate leaving disneyland to head home. I can't imagine what they'd do if we ended up going to disneyworld as well. Have a great time.

My daughter thinks that her and her baby brother are staying with their grandparents in April while my husband and I go on a trip. When we get to the airport to drop us off we're going to tell her we're going to Disneyland and she's coming too.

It has been so hard keeping it a secret. I am so excited  and I'm home with her so much it's killing me not to tell her, but I think it will be worth it.

We're planning one right now. :cool1: we just went to WDW in September and have come up with an opportunity to go to DL in April. We are feeling guilty about taking the kids out of school for a disney trip again, but it won't be as long (Fri. and Mon.) We are sending them to school as normal on Thurs., but picking them up and going straight to the airport. They won't know what hit them!! Can't wait! :wizard:

We surprised our neice and nephew a couple of years ago. We went on the train from San Diego and they thought that we were taking them to their aunt's in Santa Barbara. Instead we got off in Anaheim and went to the Disneyland Hotel for the weekend. It was a birthday surprise for them - and I can't believe it, but they really were surprised!

We are going to Las Vegas to visit my inlaws. But that is only for one day, we are going to rent a car and travel to Disney and SoCal for a couple of days. The kids have no idea about the Calif part of our trip. I think it will be fun surprising them, We made the mistake of telling them way to early about WDW.

Oh, I think this is a GREAT idea. How come I never thought of it? I'm going to steal some of your ideas on a future trip. That's why I love these boards...you are all so smart!
