I went last September as part of my 30th b-day gift to myself. My main goal was to see Paris, and London was just a part of the tour that was available. I wasn't too hyped about the UK part of the trip, but after being there, I just thought I couldn't live any longer without moving there! Of course I probably never will, but that is one of my dreams. (I would still rather live in Paris except for the fact that I barely speak any French!)

I SO regret never doing any studying abroad. I am so jealous of you guys.

Adore the UK!!!

I've had the good fortune to visit twice. Once was a 12 day driving trip, the second was on business, mostly London.

I truly look forward to our next journey to your islands.

:)

I love England! I first went to London when I was 9, then returned 10 years later for a 4-month study abroad semester. It was great, and I got to see a lot of rest of the country too. I've gone back twice since then. One trip to London was rather oddly timed; everything was all booked and I was due to leave on Labor Day 1997. The day before I left, the world got the news that Princess Di had died. I was there for the funeral, I saw the masses of flowers at Kensington Palace, everything. It was crazy!

Yup, been there 3 times for family. They live in Warrington. It's beautiful!

No, but my son (12 y/o) will be in London and Paris in June. I would love to stow away in his suitcase.

I had to look Warrington up on the map...it's not far from Manchester then!

When I did a search I found that there was a Warrington in Pennsylvania too! ::yes::

Unfotunately I've not been. I had planned to go, but met DH & got married instead. He, however has been (before he met me):( :(

We do hope to get over there one day. Maybe when the Aussie dollar is a bit stronger against the Pound;)

I really want to see England, Scotland & Wales. England because my Grandmother was English, Scotland because my Grandfather was Scottish & I soooo love the accent & the kilt & Wales because my married name is Welsh & I love their accent too.:D

I love England!!! I used to work for a travel company that sold European Travel Packages to travel agents for their clients. Our boss insisted that we travel to Europe at least once a year and England was usually my destination of choice. (I've been to almost every western European country at least once.)

I haven't worked at that job for almost 11 years and I miss the travel opportunities, that's for sure! I would love to make it back to England with my boys (the reason I'm not working any longer) and to show them the beautiful country!

I was in Great Britian for two weeks in 1979. I thought I was in HEAVEN! We spent a week in London and did some day trips (like to Oxford and Stratford) then went to Wales, the lake district and York. I was traveling with my sister and her friend who had just gotten their masters degrees in English lit so our trip had a very literary focus. I'm planning on FINALLY getting back and seeing Scotland in '06. Almost 30 years is TOO LONG, but, you know, stuff happens ;)

You Anglophiles should join in on the DIS chat on Sunday's and visit with our UK pals!

Voted for "on holiday" because there wasn't a choice for "lived there in the past but don't any longer". Lived there as a child of a U.S. Air Force Pilot. As others have said, I also consider myself a bit of an anglophile.

British history is so incredibly fascinating, although ( correct me if I am mistaken ) I don't believe Americans study British history the way Canadians do, or did when I was younger.

To actually go and stand where so many historical things actually occurred....I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

One of my goals is to get to the Orkneys to see Skara Brae.

I would if I could but it always clashes with other things happening on a Sunday. :D

My DH had always dreamed of a visit to Europe. Two yrs. ago for his combo 65th BD and retirement trip, I surprised him with a trip to London, Scotland, Wales. We had a wonderful time w/much opportunity for sightseeing such as: the Change of the Guard @ Buckingham Palace, Honor Guard Parade, Windsor Castle, Houses of Parliment and Big Ben, a cruise on the River Thames, many rides on your tube and a trip on the London Eye. Everyone was so friendly and we made many special memories. Just sorry we misssed Paris, but that's another trip.

Take care in UK!

I've been to the UK once and absolutely loved it over there. I was on military travel. I cannot wait until DH and I take our two kids over there. DH works for a hotel called Club Quarters and they have two locations in the UK, so we are very anxious to get over there. I actually prefer the UK over Paris and Germany.
