...by another guest while at WDW?

I've been following the "Have you ever had a shock?" thread and am appalled (though not surprised) at some of the behavior other people exhibit.

I am leaving in two days (July 18!) for my very first trip ever (!) to WDW and now I'm worried that I will only run into drunk, half-naked, line-cutters who will ram me with their strollers after they defacate in public while beating and swearing at their child who has just puked on a stranger.

That might be a bit of an exaggeration but I think it sums up about 75% of the content of the shock thread. ;)

I won't let my vacation be ruined by a few selfish, ignorant people (I live in a major city and work at a public library; the behavior I've seen runs the gamut) but I would like to hear there are still some kind, considerate people out there!

So, please restore my faith in humankind and share stories of GOOD guest behavior in the parks. Tell me about how other guests have shared some pixie dust and made your vacation a bit more magical. Share something that will bring tears to my eyes! :)

DBF and I were twice given fastpasses by passersby on our trip last January- that was definitely a bit of pixie dust! I'm sure there are more, but that's the first one that came to my mind.

Several times other dads would help my dh lift our dbl stroller onto the buses, while ds helped our toddler up the steps. It was nice to have an extra set of hands.
Also, when it was my ds's bday, everyone was very friendly, wishing him a happy birthday.

3 trips total 23 days at parks... never had any of that happen :cool1:

I too give my FP's away of I can :)

There are a lot of nice people at WDW too. I have struck up a conversation with some people, while on the bus or waiting in line and have really enjoyed it.

Don't worry about the few bad apples.

I give away my dollar store ponchos to someone in line after I ride the rapids !!!!!

Since I moved to Florida, and go to the parks as often as I can, I see way more good things than bad, Have a magical vacation.

I have only been to the world a few times. But in those few trips, I have had people:

let me go ahead of them in the bathroom line when my DS was about to burst.

trade a pin that was REALLY wanted for one that was not so terrific. :thanks:

tell me exactly where I could find a hard to find item. :cheer2:

my ddad was in an ECV on our last trip. It was just he and I. I can't tell you how many times people would stop to help us with different difficulties.
-I would come off a ride to see someone stop and hand him something that
had dropped and was blowing away
-or stop and hand him a purchase from one of the CM behind a counter that
just couldn't quite reach down far enough.
-Help us when trying to get onto or off of the monorail. (this happened ALOT) :thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

I have also given up a good seat at a parade so that a kid or two could see better.

Given a few cents to a child who was just a little short.

Life's too short to miss the smile of a child. :teeth:

Have a great trip AroraBorealis. Look for the magic and you won't be disappointed...it's everywhere!

Well, this isn't really about someone else, but about us! We had to get evacuated off the TTA and in front of us was a dad with two little boys, one of whom I think may have been autistic. The dad was having a hard time with them. We had to go down some stairs to evacuate, and the one little boy (the one who I think was autistic) grabbed my mom's hand because he needed help down the stairs and the dad had already been grabbed by the other little boy. So my mom helped him down the stairs and when we got out (in the Stitch exit corridor) the little boy didn't want to leave my mom. It was pretty cute. He may not have been autistic, but he was giving off a couple of little signals that made me think he might've been. That's why I was really surprised when he just grabbed my mom's hand.

Last year we had a fantasmic package at the Brown Derby and by the time came around for us to enter the reserved seating for Fantasmic we were pretty exhausted and decided to catch it another time, we had also seen it before, on the way out we passed our voucher onto some hurried people who were surprised by our gesture. It felt pretty good to pass that along. We have been fortunate to recieve some fast passes from others prior years and also traveling with a 2 year old, many people were kind enough to give up their bus seats.

I am 41, reasonably fit dad of two boys (4 & 7). Our last trip to WDW in Jan, My wife and I took several nights to split up with one child each since DS4 couldn't rise all the rides DS7 can.

Each night we did this, I was invariably heading back to POR with a child too tired to walking, sleeping in my arms. I have back problems, and holding a 40 lb sack of sleeping child for 20-30 minutes while walking, waiting for shuttle and on the shuttle at park closing would kill me. The shuttles were always crammed due to closing time and every time someone offered to let me sit down with the sleeping child. I talked to wifey and she had the same experience with her pooped kid of the night. Thanks to all you wonderful people out there! :thumbsup2

On the first day of our last trip we were on the monorail with a nice young couple. They asked if we'd been to Epcot yet - and I explained since it was our first day we'd be going there in a few days. It was their last day and they gave us 4 reentry passes for Mission Space good through the end of the week. I guess someone had a "protein spill" when it was their turn to ride so they had gotten the passes.

We didn't end up using them for whatever reason so I passed them on to a family in Epcot.

Love spreading the pixie dust!!! pixiedust:

In 50's Prime Time Cafe we bought souvenier Mickey cups and forgot them as we left and the people sitting next to us tracked us down and ran toward the big Mickey hat and gave it to us...I was so shocked that he left his meal (his meal came out just as we left) So me and my girlfriend too a picture with him :goodvibes

We like to think we help spread the magic a bit when we're in WDW. If we get a fastpass for a ride, but then see later on that the standby line is short, we'll hop on and hand off our fastpasses to people hanging out by the machines. This is especially appreciated when the fastpasses have been sold out for the day, but we get a "thank you very much" no matter what the circumstances.

I also like to help out when it seems as though people are lost - sometimes people stare at their maps for so long things start spinning around. I like pointing people in the right direction.

Those are small things, but I certainly like putting smiles on people's faces and sharing the Disney magic with them.

Well I can't say I have been shocked, However I have shocked people.

On My last trip(which was in feb.) I had a real rough trip.(My mother passed away while I was down there. ((she was 51. I'm 26))The First Night of my trip.) I stayed the rest of the trip as Disney was one of my Mother's favorites places and she I think sent me down knowing what was about to happen.

Anyway on with the rest of what I was saying. This made the trip rough. I had the dinning plan, but wasn't very hungrey most of the time. The last day I had some counterservice meals and snacks left. So that day before i boarded the bus to the airport I waited by the cafiteria for 2 children. When I saw 2 that looked like they we're about to pay with cash I steped up to the cashier and said put both of thier breakfasts on my dining plan. I mad the kids promise me one thing.....They would go and have fun in the park! I don't even know thier names, but I put a smile on their faces and that is what Disney is about!

First off- that's so cool if 2 posters here were the ones who exchanged the ponchos.

Ok, on the nice things...
DS had a meltdown (what @ Disney... no way!!??) @ EPCOT. We moved to a quiet spot and found a mom there with her DS & DD. The girl ended up playing with DS for a bit and chilled him out :cool1:

The funny part was as we were leaving she asked DS, "Aren't you going to give me a kiss?" He was 3 and she was almost 4.

Yes pirate: did give her a kiss :love2:

Twice we've had people help us get our strollers and diaper bags off the bus in the evening. We have four young children and have two double strollers.

When we got caught in a down pour at MK last year. People offered us towels to dry off our twin DD who were freezing cold and crying. They were in the double stroller with no canopy. Another group of people offered us their seat on a bench when they were leaving.

We've had people hand us fast passes for the safari ride at AK.

People have given up their seat on the bus so I could sit while holding a child.

One of the things I like the most about my trips to Disney are the impromptu conversations with others standing in line. Everyone's excited and it's infectious. We love when kids are waiting for a ride they've never been on before, asking them if they are nervious, and the kids who do know the rides love to share their expertise! We've struck up wonderful conversations with local Orlando-ans (is that a word?) waiting for Millionaire. Most people are in a great frame of mind even if hot or tired. Politeness is usually contagious; if you DO encounter truly thoughtless people, you can feel good knowing that YOU and your family won't perpetuate the same vibe!
