Have you done Anneheim and San Diego?

I havent used the citipass so I cant help you there sorry.

We have done this several times. My brother used to live on Coronado so we would do San Diego and SW for a few days then bring him up to DL with us. I have to agree DL at the end is the best.

One year we only went to San Diego and decided not to go up to DL. Well, we went into Legoland for the first time. My kids hated that place. ds was not tall enough to do even the babiest of rides. He could have done so much more had we just gone to DL. Turns out legoland costs like $50 bucks to get in and was only open 7 hours (closed at 5pm). We decided at 4pm to head up to DL so we could salvage the day. It was open til midnight and the kids did all the rides and we drove back to Coronado that night. Tiring but we didnt even have clothes to sleep in or change into the next day since we werent planning on leaving legoland. We will never go back there again. The only part I like was the "lego city displays" That was pretty cool. Not as cool as my 1 door house with 2 windows I made as a child but pretty close...:rotfl2:

We have also done the one day trip to SD from DL. It was a very nice drive and we had plenty of time. Of course we didn't do much in SD, we did check out the Zoo and SW, that's it. If you wanted to see the city, I'd stay overnight or something.

I found the answer to the Citypass ? on the other thread I started for that purpose. Apparently, it is only necessary for passes bought through Disney and may even be outdated due to changes in the way they do citypass.

Rules certainly change quickly and it certainly speaks to checking ALL the fine print! Thanks!

We bought our SoCal City Passes through Costco and did not have to use them in any order. We actually did Universal first, then Sea World and Disneyland last. Had no problem at all.

I have a 2 day work session in San Diego, but I convinced DH to come with me and start it off with a trip to DL ;-).

But to make it easy (and a heck of a lot cheaper), we are going to fly in and out of Anaheim. My dh will fly home, and then I was planning on taking amtrax down to San Diego, spending my two days, then returning by amtrax to the Anaheim airport and flying home.

It appears it is 20.00/ 2 hours one way. Hard to get lost in a train :)

It has been several years since I took the amtrax - anyone do it lately?

We rode Amtrak from LA to San Diego and then back up to Anaheim (not all in one day, of course) and we all agree, it was one of the highlights of our entire trip. The ride hugs the coast most of the way and it was a real treat for us. I think it would be about impossible to get lost, very easy to use and we would do it again in a heartbeat!
