You do not want it to seed. Seeding takes alot of growing energy out of the grass.
Mowing the grass encourages root growth which is what you want prior to summer hitting.
Well, other than the fact that I am forbidden to TOUCH the revered lawn mower (so I have not cut the grass), the husband has cut the grass several times.
With the mild winter we had and early spring, my DH has cut the lawn a couple times already. And we're in Western Massachusetts! Of course, he has to keep up with the neighbors 'cause it's like a contest around here to see who has the best looking lawn!

Grass? What grass? No, ours has not been cut yet. It's just turning green and nowhere near ready to be mowed. And, I'm the lucky mower around here, which is okay with me because I really don't mind doing it. It's a ride-on and kind of fun to zip around on it.
