DF and #1hockeymom--My relatives are all in Punta Gorda hence the reason they suffered so with Charley. We're just keeping our fingers crossed that Frances weakens and/or doesn't cut across the state as expected. The wind and rain alone will be enough for those poor folks in PG who have lost so much already. There are so many older folks living there and I feel for all of them suffering through the weather and troubles from Charley. Sometimes life just isn't fair. . . :(

I can't believe how inconsiderate I was yesterday: before I read all the posts about H Frances and the measures being taken by WDW and the CM's I emailed the IPO address I was given, asking for someone to call me to give me information and possibly take our info over the phone for our Itinerary. Our first trip to CL at WL is less than a week away and all I have gotten in the mail is the PVI. Should I have gotten more? My DH didn't feel comfy about putting his CC on a form and mailing it and I didn't want to call and be a bother, (I am sure they have enough to deal with right now) but I got a little panicky on time and sent the e. How thoughtless of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GUILT! GUILT! GUILT!!!!!!:( :( :(

I guess the best thing to do is wait it out until monday and say alot of Prayers for all of the Floridians, CM's and other guests to make it through this time safely!!!

Pixie Dust and Prayers to all.

P.S. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest! Please don't beat me up too much!!!

Try not to beat yourself up about it. It's hard when you are so far removed from it. Having experienced severe hurricanes, namely Hurricane Hugo in 1989, myself, I totally empathize with these folks and they have been in my thoughts for the past few days. Around here, in South Carolina, we've all breathed a huge sigh of relief that we're not going to suffer a direct hit (at least we don't THINK we are...)
I was eager to know if AKL IPO had gotten me the CP dinner package I'd requested which was able to be booked yesterday for the first time - but I just couldn't ask about it when I knew the sorts of pressures they are under...
You have now confessed to thousands on the Dis, so I'll bet you're absolved;)

Thanks a bunch Liz!!!
I do feel a little better. :)
I have been fortunate enough not to have the experience of Hurricanes but I have been through some NOT SO FUN Earthquakes in California (One of a million reasons I don't live there anymore) and some very devistating Tornadoes in OK. I am sure that I can understand the pain and the agony of waiting for whole thing to blow over (no pun intended). I am just going to say another couple hundred prayers or so that all of y'all are ok.
Thanks again!!!!!!

Everyone have a wonderful holiday weekend. I'm off to visit friends and relatives.....:chat: :chat: :chat:

    I missed you all!!!

Thanks for the welcomes! I'm just busily redrafting plans now that the November hours came out...I didn't realise it but my original itinerary would have meant my ILs wouldn't have seen Spectromagic or Wishes at all, so it meant a lot of juggling. Now, how weird is this, we won't even get to the MK on our first day...bizarre for us, it's the #1 priority! I have a PS at Boma the first night for 7 and I have to change it to 5p.m. so we can get over to MGM for Fantasmic afterwards....

I now have to choose a restaurant for day 2 at or near the MK, and am hesitating all over again. Not Ohana because we're there the next night. Hmm...back to the drawing boards.

I would love to hassle my IPO for help and suggestions, but they have real things to think about. I upgraded on Wednesday and haven't had an answer to my introductory email. I DID tell them not to rush, not to worry...I'm so glad Frances has been downgraded to 2, here's praying for even better...

Mostly I'd just like to get started with the IPO, I'm so curious to see what it's going to be like working with them on the vacation. Liz, I feel exactly the way you said....so I can't possibly send another email till Tuesday....

Having made last minute changes to our ressies at WL (upgrading to CL) we just received our Concierge package. My DH is not real happy putting the CC on the form for dinner ressies and MAILING it back to the CM. Same with faxes. (although it did include a fax number for WL if anyone is looking for it) We haven't received any emails from a CM either. Is there another way to contact them?

Also, you all have the BEST ideas for surprises so I am reaching out: It is my DN's first time ever to WDW and I would love something special to be waiting for her when we check in. She is 16 and super sweet. Any thoughts?

I have a couple...which are WONDERFUL for a young girl turning 16. Our own DD turned 16 while in Orlando last summer, and we took her on a "surprise" Eastern Cruise on the Disney Wonder! We had taken the Western the summer prior, and she expressed a desire to take another. But I told her the cruise is SO pricey...we should wait and go on another in a couple of years. Well, you can only IMAGINE her surprise (SHOCK actually) as we pulled into the ship area, for me to "Take Some Photos of the Wonder!" We had told her we were on our way to KEY WEST for a week. Since she LOVES Key West, and trusts us completely...she never questioned our plans. When the security guard at the little kiosk informed me I would need a "boarding pass/docs" to get any closer (even for photos), DH whipped them out!! It was then she exclaimed, "Are we TAKING this CRUISE?" DH & I said, "YES!!" She said, "I thought we were going to Key West?" DH answered, "Oh, we are...as soon as the ship returns to this port!" It was PERFECT...and she remained in a stunned state of bliss until we stood on the balcony of our suite to watch the ship depart from the dock. :cloud9: And...How she will begin her celebration as a GRAD from HS? This June...on the DISNEY MAGIC when she ports here in Los Angeles!! ::yes:: She LOVES the DCL, for sure!!

Of course...there are many other "wonderful" things to do to surprise your DN on her special day! Order room service Breakfast, and be sure to inform them of her BD. Tell the room service manager you will need one of the plates to be empty (with the domed silver lid) as you wish to place a GIFT on the plate! I did this on DD's BD a couple of weeks ago while here at the Dolphin, and placed a STEIFF FROG PRICE purchased in the Germany (Der Teddy Baer Toy Shoppe) Pavillion under the dome!! She was so pleased, and surprised.

Also, there is a WONDERFUL woman named "Tamara" (TC) whom will travel to your room/suite and give your DN a FULL Manicure & Pedicure for $35! A Pedicure alone is $25, and a manicure $20. She is a SWEETHEART...and you will LOVE it! If you require her email to set-up a surprise appt. in advance, just pm me! :) It's a wonderful way to TREAT your DN to some special "girly" pampering!!

Goofy's muse~What a great post...this week, I'll be wondering all the same things! I already bought DD's school books online (special site), and the $596 cost SHOCKED me back into the REAL WORLD for a couple of seconds! (LOL).  But, I recovered quickly and enjoyed some CLUB offerings!! :teeth:

Steffy~Thanks so much!! :wave2:

BT~I've missed you too, sis. I have also been thinking of you, all the time. Like you, I always prefer to PRE-PAY my visits to the world, leaving the $$$ I bring, to SPEND on luxuries!! (LOL). Thank you for the prayers...I truly believe in their power.

Tess...~Yep, I know how you feel. My MIL stayed in her home, on the waterfront. She had a neighbor tie-down the yacht, and placed life vests on her two little dogs. She is a recent widow (about 16 months), and wanted to stay put. Thank goodness there was not big water surge with Charley, but she suffered some damage to her home (Trees lost, broken windows, solar panels gone, lanai over the pool/patio gone, etc.). She is just "happy" to have her life, where others lost theirs. :( I am praying it does not hit anywhere NEAR her, as it would be more than she could take.

Just got off the cell w/DB in Melbourne Beach. Winds are at 50+, and the sea is rising! The waves are huge, and there is debris all over the roads, etc. They have a sort of huge walk-in safe/panic room to get in if the storm gets too bad/rough. I'm still stressed, but feel safe here in WDW.

Hope you are all staying SAFE and DRY, and looking forward to returning to the MAGIC after Hurricane season passes~!!

{{HUGS}} to all in the lounge, thanks for all the delicious food & bevs!!

dreamflight...:hug: good to see you're still A-OK!::yes::
Still sending lots of prayers for you, your family, and ALL of our WDW CL CMs.....Jackie, Robin, Andrea, Tara, Melissa, Susan, Teresa, Amy, Angie, Alana, Aida....please take care and God bless and protect you ALL!!!

I second "TC"!!!! ducklite gave me her number and while I haven't used her yet, this next trip will be a MUST to have her!:p

Love all the beautiful birthday ideas!
your DD is such a lucky lady! And a lovely one too!princess:

mickeygirl....call the IPO directly to give them your CC #s.
Leave a message with your contact number if you get voice mail and they will return your call for your CC numbers.:sunny:

Well, I've left out lots of desserts. Some of mmausse's FAMOUS PEACH flambe!!!! and other little treats.
Let's not forget the beverages.....and let's splurge tonight and open up a couple of bottles of wine.
Look's like some of our lizard friends could use this tonight!

Cappucino machine will be left on throughout the night for all!:wave2:

BambiTamby,

Hi there. Thanks for the PM.

Everyone in Florida,

Stay safe. It looks like Vero Beach is being pounded right now and we are still hoping to move on schedule.

Someone posted on the DVC board that the Ocean Grill in Vero is gone. This was a very popular place for locals and many of us who frequented the Disney resort.

We're hoping everyone will come out of this safely.

Thanks for the update! I was wondering how ya'll were doing with the upcoming move!

Even though I'm very tired, I can not sleep.
Just can't keep from watching all the news about Frances and wondering how all our DISers are doing!:(

It's gonna be a long night...:worried:

Just got off the phone with DB in Melbourne Beach. They lost the power around 8, and the wind is HOWLING like a wolf! The gusts are more than 105 mph, and his porch lanai is slowly disappearing. He could not stay on the phone long, and wants me to call back in an hour. Oh, it's going to be a LOOOONG night. :worried:

Thanks again...for all your wonderful thoughts and prayers. Especially BT, for leaving the CAPP machine on for my double~espressos! :teeth: :hyper:

XOXO Always...

Hurricane savvy DF99 :wave2:

supposed to leave today... but, nothing's open (not the AP's nor the parks). I wonder if WDW will extend our PAP's for the three days we've "missed" due to these two hurricanes? I'll visit guest services before I leave and check this out! :teeth: (LOL). I'm just trying to make light of the situation. I cannot reach my DB...his cell must be dead (or he turned it off to conserve the battery in case he needs to make a call). His regular phone line is down. :(

Thanks again, for all your prayers. I FEEL DB made it through just fine, none the worse for wear, and is hopefully trying to rest in the current "calm" the news is reporting for his area. He has a strong FAITH in God, and believed he could withstand the forces of nature with the help, guidance and protection of our Lord and Savior. On this Blessed Sunday morning, I take time to thank our God for all the lives spared in the path of this destructive force of wind/rain. ;) Amen.

I am glad you checked in today! We've all been worried! I love your post and have read it three times now. :) Stay safe!

Just wanted to drop in and wish everyone a Safe and Blessed holiday week-end. I have had you all in my thoughts and prayers knowing many of you live in Fl. or have family there. Hope everyone is ok.

We are down to 32 days until the beginning of our WDW vacation. I am so very excited. I am having a moment of crazyness and thinking of calling the resort next week (when things get back to normal) and add on a few days to our AKL concierge stay. The way we have it planned now is to visit Crystal River for 4 nights, then we go to WDW for 3 nights AKL concierge, then 7 nights at SOG. I am thinking of skipping Crystal River and adding more time at WDW.

So.... I have a question for you all. Do you think I should extend our time at AKL or......should we stay at a different resort for the 4 nights? I would like to stay concierge either way, but it depends on cost. :earboy2:

What do you think I should do?

Angel

Hi All,
Just dropped by to say hello to all my friends here and give a warm welcome to all the new Lizards.

Our prayers go out to all in FL or those, like us, who have family and friends there.

Still sorting through my pics and gathering my thoughts to bring you highlights of our recent trip.

Angel16 - You will get many suggestions, but I know a number of people on this thread like to "resort hop" and check out several resorts each trip. We just got back from our first Disney trip. We stayed at the Beach Club and LOVED it.

I have heard the AKL is wonderful, but if you are looking for variety you might want to try one of the Epcot resorts, Beach/Yacht Clubs or Boardwalk Inn. I have heard high praises about the BWI and their concierge. All three of these resorts share the same planning office, and I can vouch that the pre-planning from this group is just great.

Just got a call from SIL in Ft. Lauderdale. She is OK! she never lost power but many in her area have. She went out tonight and did not see major damage. We thank God she is alright, and we continue to pray for others that may not have been so fortunate.

Hi Angel!
Is there any way you can enjoy the AKL CL portion at the END of your trip? It would be such a perfect way to unwind and end your trip...
:wave2:

Good news, Goofy! Glad everyone has checked in ok!

I second Johsonet's suggestion of switching your trip around and doing AKL concierge last. It is so nice to RELAX when you are there. The resort really lends itself to relaxing and unwinding, something you won't be doing at the beginning of your trip. Another plus to being at AKL at the end is that you'll be able to relax in the lounge even after you are officially checked out. Having the kids get a snack and watch some tv while I have one last cappucino and we wait for the limo to come pick us up was a perfect ending to a great trip!

Desserts and cordials are laid out on the sideboard! Enjoy!
Debbie
