Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

Thank you k&a&c's mom. I'm actually hoping that we can pay for the upgrade to deluxe, as it would be nice to have the extra space. I'm not sure how full concierge will be the first week of September, but I'm at least hoping that they'll have enough deluxe rooms for us to pay for the upgrade, even if it is without concierge access. I've amended our reservations so many times (adding discounts and what not), I hesitate to do so again so close to our arrival. I'm afraid that they're going to put a big "THIS ONE'S A PAIN" stamp on our check-in documentation!!!

*Waving* Hi Flyball! I've done this a few times so don't worry about asking for anything strange! Since you will have concierge the first day you are in a good position for that deluxe room the entire time. Be sure to tell them not only in phone/emails to IPO but in person when you check in that its a continuing reservation and you'd like your room to stay the same.

One of my strange reservations I stayed in a reg (not deluxe) savannah room the entire time, but its actually my favorite room *next to having that suite of course!* because of its location it was actually bigger than a deluxe savannah room. They put me in that my first two non concierge nights and I continued in the same room w/o problems for the next three nights. I could have moved to a deluxe room, but having the same room the entire trip meant more to me. It was a good choice!

Good luck to you and you're going to love AKL!
Debbie

Haven't "seen" Bambi for a while! I take it she must be on her trip now. I know she was going in Aug, but don't remember the dates. I'm sure she's having a wonderful time!! :drinking1

Thanks for your reply #1hockeymom! I spoke to Andrea yesterday and followed up with an email. She did mention that we might have to occupy the pool view room for the entirety of our stay if incoming concierge guests would need our deluxe room for their stays. I told her that I understood but that anything she might be able to swing would be greatly appreciated. I've spoken to Andrea twice regarding PSs and find her hard to read. I hope she's not bothered by our request. I also mentioned that we'd be willing to pay for an upgrade if necessary, although now I'm wondering where your wonderful room was located! (We stayed AKL savannah view last August and loved it, but we were a tad crowded!) That said, I think I'd stay in a broom closet for the privelege of staying at the AKL!!!

It was a savannah view room, but reg size not deluxe. It was room 4465 which puts it on the corner in that last wing. It was a long walk but the views were spectacular! We walked into our room and walked down a "hallway" with a small table and lamp at the end before turning into our room. We had the armoire and the chest of drawers in our room. DS used to change in the "hallway" area while I had the bathroom vanity changing area for myself. Our balcony was slightly longer since it was on the end, and we could see around the "corner" to the watering hole on Uzima Savannah. My reservations were 2 (or was it one?)regular savannah view/2 concierge/1 reg savannah view. I couldn't get all the days I needed at concierge with my AP rate so I grabbed what I could even though it was mid stay. The only thing I missed out on was being taken to my room upon arrival (which is awesome, but I lived w/o it!) Since this was in January it was a slow time. I did have to check in/check out every time but that wasn't a bother at all since they weren't busy at all. (and this included a "check in" right before our sunrise safari).

We could have requested a fridge in our room at no charge but since it was only DS and I he would be sent on little "missions" to the ice machine to fill the bucket while I finished getting ready.

I guess I technically downgraded myself, but it was totally worth it not to have to change rooms so many times! It was a great room, and if karma really does work that suite upgrade I just received this July really did wonders! I honestly liked the reg savannah room more than our deluxe savannah room we had during Easter. They did a fine job finding a great room with a great view!

Please visit my "rug" while you are there! I left a colorful rag rug made by a lady from Malawi with the concierge lodge. It is
smallish and it looks great in one of the shelves in the lounge! When I purchased it I knew where its home needed to be!

I miss my home!
Debbie

I'll be sure to visit your rug..how interesting and kind of you! Your room sounds like it was great, and with plenty of storage, which we also found lacking. (I hate to be at all critical, because we LOVE this resort!) We'll also be doing the check out/check in before our sunrise safari, which is one of the reasons I'm so intent on staying in the same room! I can't really picture getting us all together, packing (again!), and getting our park tickets squared away all before 6:30 am! I hope Andrea can work it our for us, and I really appreciate your responses. I love "talking" to people who get as excited about this resort as I do. After our afternoon breaks last year, we'd find ourselves not wanting to leave the hotel! Thanks again!

flyball Just wanted to say that I found Andrea to be an absolute doll. She helped with the many gifts I had waiting for my daughter and parents...she gave it her "all".
Good luck with your requests.

Well you guys will be proud-took the plunge and added nights to BWI-CL stay in Oct now 9-18. Apparently there is some big convention happening at WDW during that time and all rooms are booking up fast. Hopefully will be able to stay in the same room since I now have several different reservations-they weren't able to add onto existing one.
Anyone have any info on where to find out what conventions etc are at WDW during our stay?

mom_rules I'm not sure where to find out what conventions are there, but now I will very probably see you if you are staying until the 18th!!!:) We check in on the 14th.
I bought Madyson the Snow White dress yesterday at the Disney Store. She came home from Maine today and I gave it to her. Oh, she looked so cute. She will be wearing it to the Princess breakfast we have in Norway.

mammause Have you heard anymore from Robin? Let me know.
Everyone have a wonderful evening!

Hi Kerry, was going to PM you but can't get that page to load. I hope this goes thru. Yes, I did hear from Robin again - she asked if I wanted anything in particular for the basket. She was thinking a bushel of grapefruit and a gallon of horseradish.......Only kidding. THAT is actually a homeopathic remedy for a sore throat and clogged head/sinuses. You smear the hottest horseradish on a half a grapefruit and then eat the grapefruit.

Anyhow, she said that she and Jackie had put there heads together and planned the perfect surprise for our mutual friend. I told her you and I wanted to be flies on the wall to see her expression, and she laughed. The BWI CL Rules ::yes:: - even when we're not there, they take care of us!

mammause They are the best! :) I can't wait for Bamby to get back now!!!!!! Oh, what I would give to be there to see her face. I just love surprising people. It makes you feel sooooo good:Pinkbounc

Hi everybody! I'm at Mickey's house!
Met BambiTamby and cajunfan Weds. night - both are absolute dolls. Cajunfan brought us lovely gift bags filled with some "Southern specialties" - GooGoo clusters and Moon Pies.
Weather is great (IMO, anyways, 'cuz I love HOT and humid) and though rain has been predicted every day we have only had a few sprinkles. It's off to the MK for me - 1st time going there solo, as DH is golfing and I didn't feel like doing the spa again. "See" you all soon!

steveanddonna: Thanks for taking time out of your schedule to give us an update. Sounds like you're having a blast. Are you enjoying the Poly?

Have fun! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

You're welcome, Tammy. Yes, we are enjoying the Poly. We had a couple of wrinkles that needed smoothing, but nothing devastating. Even with all the glitches and bugs we've experienced over the last few trips, the Poly CMs remain among our favorite in the "World." I will post a real trip report when we return home, but let me relate a quick story (it also explains why I'm still on-line instead of in the MK!)

I stopped at the concierge desk on my way out this am to change a PS and asked Kathy if she could still get a package to another CM through intermail. Those of you who've been on the thread for a while know about my niece and her special monorail pilot. She draws pictures nearly every week for Stan and asks us to take them with us, so this time I transferred one to a t-shirt. Kathy took the time to track Stan down so DH and I can give him his shirt & thank him in person. It was the wrong Stan at first, but she got back on the phone and found the right Stan so that this CM would get the recognition he deserves. It's that willingness to go the extra mile that keeps us coming back, both to WDW and to the Poly.

NOW I'm off to see Mickey!

:wave2: steveanddonna! I hope you have a wonderful day at the MK! Thanks for stopping by! :sunny:

Johnsonet, thanks for the heads up on Andrea! I've only spoken to her twice about PSs and wasn't sure if her reserved demeanor was an indication of annoyance or just her professional "voice." I was hoping she wasn't secretly rolling her eyes at my request. I'm glad she came through for your family!

I can't believe I'm doing this, 4 Disney trips within 12 months. My husband is going to have me committed. But I'm asking 55,000 of my closest friends, how could I pass it up? Roundtrip airfare from Boston to Orlando at $120!!! I followed up on the Disney e-mail and was offered YC concierge for $335 per night. We're talking 4 days/3 nights for 2 adults and 2 children at just about $1500. I think I'd be crazy if I don't jump on it. I know that I must be doing the right thing, because I'm not even trying that hard to justify it.

I've already spoken to Annalisa at the YC pre-planning office and she is terrific. She's going to mail me out a packet of information and also mentioned that the concierge elevator key would be included. I love private check in. This will be our first experience at somewhere other than the GF, but I'm kind of excited about it. I know my kids will love SAB and I'm looking into an Illuminations cruise too. It's going to be very different for us on this trip. Normally, we're in and out of the MK constantly, that's why I love the monorail convenience of the GF. This time though, I'm only planning on visiting the MK for the Very Merry Christmas Party. Other than that, I want to see the Santa's in Epcot, the Osborne Lights at MGM and for the first time in our many, many visits, I want to experience Fantasmic. DH will have the ESPN Club for Sunday afternoon football and I think we're all going to be very satisfied customers.

So this lizard will be lounging at the YC from 12/10-12/13.

Tammi

Aloha Lizards,

I am starting to question my sanity. I am really nervous about our first stay at the Poly concierge. I know that I should take various comments with a grain of salt but...........and this is costing me alot of money. I'm gonna call and see what else is available.

Tammy, don't worry, you're not crazy, LOL! I always tend to question my resort choice right before my trip too. I personally have stayed Poly CL twice, and I had a great stay both times. ::yes::
