Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

I am in major Disney withdrawal here and I don't see an end to the "wanting" or is that need? It was bad enough when I came home and I could still hear the Splash Mountain music in my head, but I looked at the calendar a few days ago and realized my summer vacation is two weeks from being officially over. Granted, I should be in psycho mode wondering if I'll be called back *I am used to pink slip "H-E- double hockey sticks" working in the school district I do. They lay off 200+ every year and don't blink an eye as to the horror they give out during the summer while you're wondering IF and WHEN you'll get called back* I promised myself I wouldn't go into pink slip worry this year as by October everyone on the list had been called back, and I had been called back in time for the first day of school in mid August.
So, there is this Disney anxiety. When will I go again? (remember, I'm not allowed to think about pink slips!)

Thank you for listening to my rant!
Debbie

Thanks so much for responding. You're probably right about starting a "concierge" thing, but my husband will be the worst about having to have it, so that is not a problem for me! We have had a rough year so we changed from regular rooms to concierge. We thought at least we could end this year in a nice way. What kinds of things can be done for surprises? My daughter is 17 and my twin boys are 12. (today actually!) This will be our third trip to WDW. I was thinking about a small tree for Christmas and maybe cake and balloons. I also thought about the mini castle and slipper dessert for a mother/daughter afternoon. Can they help with that or do I need to call? I normally do everything and it is hard to imagine that someone will do it for me. Since I have no experience here, I can't even think what to ask for, but I really want some nice things in the room for them. That will probably be the high point for them.

I have already made reservations for the Sunrise Safari. (Yes they laughed at how early I was but they did it anyway and sent the confirmation) My kiddos want to do an Illuminations Cruise, the Fantasmic Dinner thing, eat at Sci-Fi, visit Disney Quest, and eat at O'hana. I already have tickets to Cirque, too.

I too recieved an e-mail code. I called CRO twice to make sure I had accurate information. And it's a no go. They even commented on how they have never seen all the club level rooms so booked.

Maybe we should get rid of this thread!;)

For my dates December 10 through the 12th. This is what was available for club level rooms.

AKL nothing but 1 or 2 bedroom suites. 1 bedroom with my code 772.00.

Wilderness Lodge nothing available.

Then CRO did a search because as she said she had never seen this level so booked. All she came up with was the CR tower club at 340.00. I was tempted to book it as the boys would enjoy it. When I had her recheck if it was 12th floor or 14th, And it was 12th floor so no go for me.

Heres hoping they will release another batch of rooms when the AP rates come out.::yes::

Mommaof3 I am doing the slipper for my afternoon tea at the GF. I am going with my daughter-in-law, Carri, her mother Faye and grandaughter Madyson. It will be Fyae's birthday the day we go so I am having a slipper for her. They need to be ordered 48 hrs. in advance and are only served at the GF. You really should do the tea with your daughter it is wonderful. If not then you could do lunch at The GF Cafe.
My planner is going to be helping me out together welcome baskets for Jimmy and Carri, their anniversary while we are there. Also they have great suggestions for things. You can go to www.wdwflorist.com and get some ideas. This is a good starting point.
I love staying concierge. It makes for a very worry free vacation!:)

Thanks for the afternoon tea idea. We enjoy tea and scones so that might be just the ticket! She doesn't want to go to Disney Quest with her brothers, so tea should be girlish enough. I will look at the florist website and see what they have. I am computer challenged but my children will find the site for me and then I will send them off to wonder about what I am up to!
Let me know about BWI. We came close to booking there this trip, so that could be our next trip. Thanks for the info.---Melissa

Good Morning Lizards,

My trip is getting closer, only 22 more days. We are so excited!! Just about every night we have a roundtable discussion to talk about our trip. LOL!!!

I cannot wait for our very first stay at the Poly and our first time staying concierge.

I am already thinking about where we want to stay next year. Maybe BWI concierge.

Have a great day.

Twinmonplus2new, when I check on line, there is availability at AKL C so I think the deal is that the quota of rooms booked with this discount is filled. If there are 60 club rooms, they may only allow 10% to go at a single code. Hopefully when AP discounts are released there will be more set aside, people will switch, availabilty will open up under one code or the other.

Also if bookings still not what they like, they could release more rooms for discounts.

Do you know however, is there an expiration date for booking with this e mail code? I didn't actually see the E mail as it was sent to an old address and 'in their system'. If anyone could forward me a copy, I'd appreciate just reading it although feel free to black out any personal/pin info.

Sharon

BriarRose,

When and when did you get the Haunted Mansion Clue game? Is that something just sold at the WDW Parks/Resorts?

I've looked a little on line today and couldn't find. If it's just sold there, then maybe that's something for my Planner to get for us.

Thanks, Sharon

I know they have it at the toy store at DTD. Its kind of pricey as its the Deluxe version of Clue in a tin box. I think it was around $50 when I was there in 2002.

So it feels like I've been away for 400 years :earseek:. Gosh I've missed the lounge. I want to personally thank all of you for your prayers. I need to ask a small favor to keep my little sis and her precious DD in your prayers. I feel like that nasty cloud is being lifted, but I'm not quite there yet because of the issues with my sis and my niece. I'm almost done with the insurance company, have a new car and taking care of some other business. After all that, I now feel like driving down to FL just for a quick vacation to revitalize with a spa treatment to get all the kinks out of my neck and back. I long to sit in the lounge simply taking in the surroundings, chatting while sipping on lemonade (or bailey's in the evening) with a yummy treat...maybe even two yummy treats. I keep thinking of the smell of the AKL and SSR Spa....mmmmm, a little piece of heaven on this earth.

Well, I better get back to work! I hope to do some catching up really soon. Welcome to all the new lizards, I know there are quite a few out there! If you are off at WDW or plan too really soon - HAVE A BLAST! I certainly can't wait to go back and read all the good stuff I've missed. :teeth:

VAgal: I am so glad to see you. I am glad that you are recovering. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

VAgal so good to see you back here.:) We missed you! I will keep your sister and niece in my prayers.

tammy you have to try the BWI! You will be blown away by the cast there. The lounbge is so relaxing and the views from the rooms are great.

I hope BT, cajunfan and stevedonna are having a great time. Can't wait to hear all about their trips.

Lovesdumbo The last I saw the game it was $28 at the store by the HM in MK. I worked to day and we had a guest return the Mickey icon end tables that are in the catalog! They are so cute. I wanted to buy just 1, but my husband would not have liked me at all!! I can't think of spending with all the remodeling going on.

That sounds better! I was pregnant so I must just be confused. or maybe it was more $ when it first came out? I had purchases the Disney version Candy Land on that trip.

Speaking of exciting shopping.... I just got a new stroller (Peg Perego Pliko P3) and thought my DH would kill me as it is the 5th one but he actually likes it! It is so perfect for my baby who will be 21 months old when we go in October. She can sit up straight in it, it has a tray for her, has a huge canopy, only weighs 15 pounds and folds up nice and small AND it has a running board for one of the older kids to hop on (and fight over....). She'll be so much happier in that than the umbrella and we'll have a better trip with her happier. I took her for her first walk in it yesterday and she fell asleep and took a 1 hour nap in it (she fights naps these days). :teeth:

We're off to Maine for the weekend. Don't know how the kids will be for the 4-5 hour ride. I think I can keep the older ones busy. We're putting them both in the 3rd row of the mini-van so I can sit next to the 18 month old. Hope she'll nap part of the way. Lately she'll scream in the car if we don't have It's a Small World on repeat. My husband can barely survive the 30 minute house to Grandma's with that playing he will NOT survive a 170 mile ride to Maine with Small World!

Vagal-nice to see you! So glad you're safe! Will say a prayer for your Dsis and DN.

Lovesdumbo and KerryCM, thanks for the tips on the Haunted Mansion Clue. I think I'll definately ask that one be in our room at check in--a birthday gift from Mickey to DD.

Wonderful to see you again, VAgal!!! I am glad that things are looking up for you, and I will continue to pray for your sister.

lovesdumbo Where in Maine are you goign? We usually go to the Lobster Festival this weekend in Rockland Maine, but because of my surgery we aren't going this year. My son and his family are up there now, Carri is from Old Town. They have had great weather. Have a fun weekend.
Isn't funny what makes us happy now! A new carriage is wonderful!!:)

We're going to Fryeburg-near North Conway NH. There's no easy way to get there-either take rt 16 through NH which can be slow or take rtes 5/4 through Maine-a bit longer but more relaxing ride and avoid those NH tolls on the ride home Sunday.

We're visiting friends that were my Explorer Scout (coed division of Boy Scouts) advisors when I was in high school. Now that I'm older I wonder why they were crazy enough to take a bunch of High School kids backpacking when their own children were so much younger. But I am so grateful that they did. I don't know how I would have gotten through those high school years without them. They are really wonderful. They've retired there now and are enjoying a new life. Carol is a nurse and has taken EMT training and is now a volunteer EMT. She delivered her granddaughter in the back seat of their king cab pick up nearly 3 years so I guess she already had some experience! We didn't get to go last year because their adult DD was sick. I'm really anxious to see them again and for them to meet my dear little miss Emma. They just won't believe how big Lizzie & Joe are. I just know the kids will have a blast. They love the woods. Lets hope for lots of sun and few bugs! Also my friend from school days (met in 4th grade) who lives in FL now and her 5-year-old DD will be visiting her Dad who owns a house across the lake. She'll be leaving Sat but hopefully we'll get to Maine early enough Fri that Lizzie and Halley can play together and I can see Terry again. I better remember to tell Terry and Halley that Lizzie and Joe don't know about our trip yet! AND...mutual friends Jim and Judy (who were also Explorer advisors) will be there with DD Jenna (16) and DS Jamie (12). Jenna & Jamie are just wonderful with my kids and Judy is an advid card player so I'm sure we'll have a grand time!

Well I better get home and start packing! EEK-high chair, pack n play, baby boat, clothes, food....how will we fit in the car?

I guess this is where I need to be to learn about the nuances of concierge! I was just wondering if anybody has dealt with Andrea from AKL. I've spoken with her a few times and made our PSs with her and I'm wondering if she's reliable about helping with special requests. We're staying AKL concierge for the first night of our Aug/Sept (last week of Aug, first week of Sept) trip and then we're switching to AKL pool view. I'm trying to avoid having us moved from one room to another when we switch room categories, as we would be in three hotel rooms in three nights (coming down the night before our concierge night and staying off site). I explained that whatever way this could be accomplished would be great (even if it meant paying for an upgrade). Sorry this is so long (and hope you understand my question), but what do you think our chances are of having this request granted at this time of year? TIA!

flyball - I know #1hockeymom can answer your question on this issue, as she has done this. If I remember correctly, they will probably put you in a pool view room for the entire stay, with CL access for your first night. But, if Debbie (#1hm) comes along, she will give more detailed info!

You've picked a wonderful resort, one of our favorites!!::yes::
