Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

Kerry:Yup and when the Australians come I know they will be asked if they are convicts from Down under.

Thanx I will ask to have a taxi take us to AKL as soon as we check out. As there are 5 we might as well take the luggage with us.

thanx again

Leaving JFK for MCO on Monday via Jetblue (great rate of $500 for 3 people, roundtrip). Staying at a deluxe room @ Portofino Bay the first night (AP discount). Then, Tuesday afternoon, we transfer to the Grand Floridian for 7 nights at Sugar Loaf!

Already have PS's booked. Liberty Tree Tavern. Cinderella's Royal Table. Sci-Fi Dine In. Mama Melrose. Le Cellier. California Grille.

Lodge Tower room request noted, though I don't expect to get it.

A few questions concerning the GF. Is there already an empty fridge in the room, or must it be requested? Is a microwave also available? Has Sugar Loaf extended their food, drink, and dessert offerings as previously rumored? Can the "chocolate slipper" be ordered via room service?

I would like to thank this board, this forum and thread especially, for providing me with hundreds of great tips and links to not only save money, but to have tons of fun and magic at WDW because of it. It is really a pity (or a blessing) that most people who visit Disney don't have access to such a great resource for trip planning.

Hello everyone!

Boy, go on vacation and it takes hours to catch up. Lots going on.

I have a question for all of you. We are thinking of going back for an extended weekend the 1st of December (we have never been for the holidays and the ap's from our June trip are burining a hole in my pocket!). We know we are going to do a split trip since there is no way we can't go back to AKL concierge. The other part of the trip we would like to be on monorail for convenience. Should we go back to poly lvc or GF rpc? I loved poly but don't know about at the holidays. I have rack rate at GF booked but they said I could just call and switch to ap rate when it comes out. We stayed GF rpc for our honeymoon but were on a meal plan so didn't fully utilize concierge. My brother and his wife will probably meet us there and they have never stayed on property. I know AKL will blow them away but am torn between GF and poly. Help!!!!!

Hey, everybody!

Just wanted to say thank you for all the kind words, I have been reading back posts lately. Still a little rough around our house, but hopefully time will be kind. Today was the day for their wedding, so maybe after today, we can begin to heal.

Again, I really appreciate everyone thinking of us, you guys are soooo sweet. :grouphug:

k&a&c'smom - Alice, it is so good to hear from you.
You still are and will remain in our thoughts and prayers.
Here's hoping a little PD sent your way, begins the healing.

k&a&c'smom,
Please know that you and your family are in my prayers. I still pray for the Lord's hand of comfort on you all.

Big wave to Alice and the entire lounge lizard gang! I woke up bright and early and I now have our seats reserved for tomorrow morning's flight! I guess I'll get the suitcases out now and start packing! I have started a pile of things on the dining room table, but haven't done anything clothing or shoe wise.

I set out breakfast; help yourselves and have a wonderful day!
Debbie

Thanks for the breakfast goodie Debbie! Have a WONDERFUL trip!!

I am off to Webelo camp this afternoon...I will have to be out of communication with my favorite people until Thursday afternoon!!!

Everyone have a wonderful next few days....don't post too much! I don't know how much time I will have to catch up on reading when I get back.

Lynn

Mornin Lizards,

Glad to find everyone doing fine.

Hockeymom: Have a wonderful trip.

K&A&C'sMom: Glad to see you again, I've been praying for you.

I've helped myself to a danish and some juice.

I see that the September codes have come out and I am gonna change my ressie from Pop Century to one of the moderates. Have I mentioned how excited we are?????

Have a Disney day!!

#1 Hockeymom have a fantastic trip!:Pinkbounc I can't wait for you to get back and hear all about it.

Alice So glad to see you here. I have thought about you often, as you know. Will PM you later.

steveanddonna I envy you meeting up with other lizards! You will be in such great company. Have fun!

BT How was your show over the weekend? Hope all went well.

Everyone have a great afternoon!

Alice! We've missed you so much on the thread. You bring a sort of cheer to us each time you "write". We are all grieving with you and wish you continued strength...as well as plenty of P and PD.

hockeymom!!! I'll be thinking of you at your beloved lodge with your family. Have an awesome time....I'm SURE you will!!!

steveanddonna, BambiTamby, cajunfun.... Are you the next three to go??? Getting excited for you too!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

P and PD for everyone who needs it!!!!!!!!

Update on DS.... He did poorly on his third audiogram last Friday. Before we go through with the next test (requiring anesthesia), we've opted to see an ENT first. He's supposedly one of the best in Chicago and he will see us on Wednesday (DS's BIRTHDAY ) !!!!! One step at a time!!! Thanks to all for your continued well wishes regarding DS.

And NOW I need some CONCIERGE advice from all of my Lizard friends!!!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: We are booked for GF/SL in Sept. We've stayed there before so I realize the benefits of Concierge with two toddlers. However, we could save $800 plus dollars for the week if we stay GF garden view. With Gasparillas open 24 hours (and the fact that we could rent a fridge in the room), do you all think (blasphemy!!) that we should go non-concierge and save the $800???? Thanks, in advance, for the help!!!!

I called Song today and they canceled my flight and forgot to move us to another one. I am now booked to leave a day earlier. Staying at POR. Room only ressie as the flight wont get us there until 6 pm.

EEK!!! Are you flying out of Logan? I'm afraid they will do that to us too but I just checked our flight and am "relieved" that the fares are back up to 104.60 for the flight down and there seems to be lots more seats reserved. Our flight home is still at $57.60 with lots and lots of empty seats. I still have an extra day on my Poly reservation and I think I'll keep it til I see that flight fill up.

Have you considered getting a standard view room at AKL. I thought I've seen folks using that new room only Sept code getting $119. Seems like it would really cut down on your hassles!

Thanks for asking for MA gift ideas. I love the lobster pop idea! Maybe you'll find something fun at Plymouth Plantation.

Alice-how great to "see" you again. You have been in my thought and prayers! Enjoy your trip.

Well, I would not give up CL. Not only will you have 2 toddlers but you'll be pregnant! I think every step you can save will be worth the money spent. And it would give me peace of mind to know that CL would be there to help out if I did need them.

Continued P&PD for your DS. So glad you don't have to wait too long. Happy Birthday to DS:bday:

Woody - BIG    for you and DS - I'm thinking of you, and sending lots of positive thoughts for DS's specialist visit. I just know they will be able to give you some good news. And :cake: :bday: to him!

On the one hand, I agree with lovesdumbo, the CL will be helpful with little ones. But, I have stayed non-CL at the GF, and it was great, so if you need/want to save the extra, do what your heart tells you. You'll still have a fantastic trip, and be on the monorail!:teeth:

Woody,

:wave2: I think that if you decide to go non-CL, then the GF is definitely the resort you would want to do that at. You do get some benefits standard at the GF that you must stay concierge to get at other resorts (like upgraded toiletries and bathrobes). The regular rooms are large as well. :)

A great big HELLO to all my lizard friends!!!!

The show was a HUGE SUCCESS!!!:thewave:

Now....I can relax (LOL! like I know how to really do that!)
and finish planning this next trip...which is less than 2 weeks away! ACK!

ALICE!!!!!! You have been missed, my dear!
Continued prayers for your family's healing.

WOODY!!!!more  for you, too! Remember what I told you about my brother. Everything's going to be fine!

As for the concierge "mutiny" talk......you ARE a lizard!
you could go for the GF regular room and save money, but I have to agree with the others that CL makes it so much easier.... being pregnant plus having the children.

stevanddonna....and cajunfan...it's getting closer! WOW! Donna, I'll be calling you tomorrow to finalize our plans!;)

Debbie....I've probably missed waving bye-bye to you, but hope you all have a happy and safe trip!:wave2:
I'm sure your "baby" is doing "flips" besides your balcony! LOL!:jumping3:

I'm leaving out some cheese, crackers, beef tip stew, mac n cheese, fruits, and beverages for evening oferings.
there's also some uncrustables, chicken nuggets, and cookies for the little (and big) kids~!::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

I may loose points here with y'all, but I would think that saving over $800 you could get a fridge, make a grocery store stop, and stock up on most items the toddlers would want.
Unless you need the services for PS and other arrangements, I just don't see that the food offerings in GF/SL are going to WOW 2 toddlers.

Are you guys planning on going to the parks a lot? or spending most of your time near the GF doing the pool and such? That might make a difference. Being in the parks, you would miss some of the lounge food anyway and would still need to buy or bring snacks.

I'm just trying to play Devil's advocate. $800.00 would almost be enough for us to fly to Orlando again, so to me it is like getting another trip to Disney....

Sugar Loaf didn't impress us much in 1999 - I'd rather have a lagoon view (or garden view in Boca Chica) Sugar Loaf was NOISY...I'm very pro -concierge but in this case, I'd stay in a "regualr" room... If it were RPC that would be another story...

Very, very good points, GoofyJoofy and johnsonet!
::yes:: ::yes::

Woody...didn't you just stay at GF SL this last trip?

Maybe try the Poly or CR for a change?:sunny:
