BT princess: you are so kind and diplomatic ;)
I'd like to ask your opinion about something else...
I am hoping to celebrate my 35th birthday at WDW with my 3 closest friends (could end up being just one friend due to pregnancies!!):teeth:
My birthday is in early Feb. and I'm wondering about what resort to choose...If it were you, and having experienced so many resorts and CLs, which would be your ultimate? I'm leaning towards AKL b/c of its warmth and incredible, smoky smells (for the chilly month of Feb.) as well as the Sunrise Safari (have done) and Sunset Safari (have not ). I just think it would be an amazing adventure for my friends and for me of courseprincess:
BUT, maybe BWI CL will win me over this weekend:teeth:
My other leaning is toward GF RPC (stayed at GF many times but never RPC!) b/c 2 out of 3 of these friends are big-time luxury-lovers, spa types, etc... Anyway, on a whim, I wanted to ask your Expert Opinion and also that of anyone else who has the time or inclination...
I'm doing some last-minute packing:bounce: :Pinkbounc Can't wait until Wednesday:jumping1:

Hmmm...that's a hard one!

I hate these decisions!

I've ruled the Poly GVC out on this next trip, have the BC CL booked and today I was able to score a garden suite at BWI for the first part of my next trip. Mom hasn't stayed at BC or BWI, but since she loves luxury, I'm leaning towards the BWI.::yes::

Then again, the AKL CL would be wonderful in Feb.
DH wants me to call and change the marathon trip to AKL CL, perhaps a suite for the marathon, as he loves the health club at AKL.

Sleep on it.......

mmausse....I made something for you, dear.

Thanks for the great responses. You all raise some good points. This is SO hard! Can't someone just make the decision for me? LOL!

Although we've saved the $$ for GF/SL, I wonder if it's a waste of $800 plus. With 24hr. Gasparilla's (and a grocery stop), would we really NEED CL? We don't need PS's b/c we have to sort of wing it with naptimes. On the other hand, will I regret not going SL b/c I'm pregnant with a health appetite? :teeth: Even DH (who was the one FOR CL, says that maybe we should skip it? Sooooooo confused.

And yes, Bambi , we did stay GF/SL this last trip. We loved it. As far as the food offering went though, we really only utilized breakfast and drinks before bed. I am a true lizard though...you are right about that. UGH!!!! :hyper: BTW, CR isn't available and I just can't bring myself to try Poly yet. I know it's wonderful, just can't do it yet.

Does anyone know if it's true that you can rent a fridge free of charge at GF?

BTW, sorry for all the typo's on the last post. It's getting late! ;)

*big wave before we leave!*

GF SL or.... lets say ROOM SERVICE? I am thinking with two toddlers and you being pregnant it might be easier on you to call room service and have them play in the room. This way all cravings are covered! I'd go with what the others said about counter service 24 hours and a grocery stop for juice and other goodies to go along with room service.

We're going to Disney World! I am just as excited as if I hadn't been so many times this year! I've been on the phone with DD many times today to make sure she's not forgotten anything. I just know I have so I am glad I prearranged that grocery stop. Maybe this time I'll really need it!

Thank you for all the well wishes. I'll see you all in a week if my laptop doesn't make it on the plane! If it does, I'll have it for the first three nights, but not the last three.

Have fun planning all of your adventures while I am gone, and I'll put in a good word with Tink that we need lots of PD over on this thread! Everyone stay healthy!

Debbie

Hi All,

I will soon be an official Lounge Lizard. I will finally be able to join in the conversations regarding Poly concierge and Walt Disney World.:Pinkbounc

After reading all the many adventures the lizards have had, I am looking forward to having some of my own.

I will be there from 8/4/04 -8/11/04 with my dh, dd5, b/g twins2.

Hope to report back a wonderful experience.

Any one have any last minute tips.

Melissa at the poly has been a great help.

Oh, my! twinsmomplusone....you're going to be there at the same time as stevenanddonna, cajunfan and me!
(but, I won't be at the Poly...the BC or BWI CL, but I'll be over on the 4th for a mini-lizard meet at the Poly!

hope to meet you, too!

Debbie...HAPPY TRAILS to you!:sunny:

Last one out, turn off the light and cappucino machine!;)

I can't wait to hear about the mini-lizard meet! We'll make sure we (the S/D sorority sisters) leave some free "running amuck" passes for all of you!

I see Bambi hit all the great threads tonight. I am totally cracking up reading her posts!

Bye everyone!
Debbie

Just received a 30 day "courtesy call" from AKL to see if I needed anything else done before our arrival. After 400 days of planning, can it really be just a month away? Woohoo!

So impressed with AKL concierge. Everything I've asked (including many changed requests) have been accomplished with sweetness and cheer. Never, "what, you again? will you please make up your mind!" LOL

Okay, turning on the cappuchino machine and putting out some danish - enjoy!

I just upgraded us to the CL at the Poly for our trip in October! I just can't stay away from CL! I am so excited. DS11 has a picture in one of the Photo books that he wants to see and he can't wait for the Sushi from Chef Dick. I called the IPO this morning, I can't wait to hear from them.

#1hockeymom Have fun at your meet

Welcome back, Alice! Can't wait 'til you're posting regularly again - your posts are a delight to read. Continued prayers & PD for you & your family.

Woody I was going to suggest the same as other lizards - try CR or Poly, but you said those weren't options. I would keep calling on CR, though, especially since you once mentioned that it has a special place in your heart. With a baby on the way, $800 could be put towards some great baby stuff...Then again, with a baby on the way, having CL available for breakfast (no getting everyone dressed and ready for the day before eating) and snacks and a quick beverage stop and a place to get away...could be invaluable. It's a tough call. I guess if it were me and I'd already put the money aside for vacation, I'd use it for that!
BTW, continued prayers & PD for your DS. Hopefully the ENT guy will have some good news for you.

BT Glad your show was a success. Looking forward to hearing from you; have not received e-mail promised by Melissa yet:confused: so I will be calling her later too.

twinsmomplusone Hope to meet you in August! DH & I will be at the Poly the 4th-8th. He's tall, I'm short, we're both devastatingly good looking - just kidding! I will be the utterly relaxed woman sitting solo in the lounge Friday AM while DH is golfing and I am alone, obligation-free and enjoying it to the max!

johnsonet,

A friends trip to WDW sounds wonderful! I have done that on several occasions, and I had a fantastic time on each trip. ::yes::

As far as which resort to choose, that is a really tough call. I agree with you that the AKL has a special ambience that makes it especially well suited to the winter months. I also think that GF RPC would be great for luxury lovers. Would it be a possibility to split your stay? I suppose if I had to narrow it down to just one choice, I would select AKL. The Sunrise and Sunset Safaris would be really special events, and I just love that resort. :)

Looks like we will just miss you-we will be there 10/22 to 10/29. I'm sure your family will love the Poly! I'm so looking forward to my trip. My DS will be nearly 4. He's much more adventurous food wise than DD. In Jan he turned 3 while we there so we didn't pay for him at Ohana. He loved everything! His sister didn't like anything but the beans. We ordered her Mac & Cheese but she wouldn't eat that either but he did. She had PB&J back at the lounge. I'm hoping she'll be a bit better this year.

They are WONDERFUL, PRaffen!!!! you are going to be sooo spoiled by the AKL CL staff!::yes::
And after 400 days of planning...you DESERVE it!:teeth:

ValerieK...CONGRATS on your upgrade to CL!!!! WHOOHOO!:)

Running late today! Grabbing a danish and a latte before I head out!:moped:

This will be out 3rd stay Poly CL. Both kids eat a lot of different foods, especially DS, the kid eats raw fish and fish eggs, but he won't eat melted cheese.

Just wanted to check in with everyone and THANK YOU ALL for your kind PD and Prayers and hugs. I have to give a GREAT BIG HUG to Bambi for getting me out of my sad and lonely post-surgical state. She sent me a fabulous clippie, and I can only say "I'm not worthy..." I :worship: at the feet of SUCH an artiste! I am not exactly back in the swing of things - I can sort of walk, it's more like a Frankenstein shuffle but it gets me from my bed to the bath to the kitchen. Still haven't gotten that urge to eat yet - if it has any taste, it doesn't stay long, but for the most part, nothing has any flavor. Great new diet - I've lost 12 pounds!:earseek:

Thank you Alice for your kind words and encouragement, it meant a lot to me. You are a very good person.

Thanks to everyone else who sent me words of encouragement, prayers, and hugs. I get the results of my surgery on Monday. All I know is the doc told me that when he opened me up, he was shocked by the extensive damage. I'm just hoping he was able to repair everything - if not, I'll be leading the dance party at the next MNSSHP- doing the Frankenstein shuffle!:smooth:

Time to plan my next trip!

mmausse, I hope you are feeling 100% better very soon! I also will say a prayer that the doctor will say the surgery was a complete success.

 to you, mmausse!

so glad you like her....methinks she's the best clippie I've yet done! :sunny:
And you're much too elegant for the "Frankie shuffle"! ;)

12 pounds! WOW~!:earseek:

dreamflight posted on the SD thread. She is having a fabulous time at Vero and on her way to the GF!
Can NOT wait to read her CL trip reports!!!!!::yes::

ead...that's a good prayer! princess:

This group here is the best! :grouphug:

Missing Majestic, floridafam, goodferry, Steffy, MamaTink...
haven't seen them in the lounge lately.
Or did I miss them passing thru?

Lots of goodies still out for the evening offerings!

Nitey!

Thanks BT and EAD - YOU are right , everyone here IS THE BEST!:Pinkbounc

I go to physical therapy tomorrow. Thank goodness my therapist is a good friend of mine so the PT (physical torture) isn't as bad. I'll let y'all know my results on Monday!

To everyone in WDW or leaving for there soon - I hope you and yours have a GREAT time! Say hi to Mickey for me!

Yes BT - I think it's your best ever! THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH. Every time I need to smile, I just pull up this site to gaze at the very special gift a dear friend ::yes:: gave me. If ever you're in the Piedmont of VA, please come see me!:chat:

Hey Gang!! Life is...well, La Dolce VITA!! Everything has been superb, and we are having a BLAST!! Tomorrow I travel from my current location here in Disney's Vero Beach, to the GF. I'm attending the Sorority Sister's TEA party...excited to meet some of the members! Wish all of you were there too. :grouphug:

Our time at the PBH was SWEET...but passed too quickly. The AP's worked great...and the highlight was the Mandara Spa visits, and Emeril's Tchoup Chop! Well...actually, everything was splendid. :cloud9:

Vero has been a continuation of the same. The premium SUV 4x4 we picked up two weeks go has proved to be invaluable. We head to Key West this weekend...and then on to the Dolphin! Two weeks down...and SIX more stretched out in front of us. Ahhh...we could stay on VACATION infinitely!

Tomorrow...as we head up A1A towards Orlando, we'll stop again at the STARBUCK'S in Melbourne Beach which opened 2 weeks ago, for another FIX (LOL).

Hope everyone is having a FAB summer, and dreaming of visits to the MAGIC! You are ALL in my thoughts...and wishes.

I'll write more later, with much more detail!! ::yes:: :sunny:
