Finally have my trip reports finished. Just wanted to say that YC concierge still remains supreme in my opinion. I will not be returning to the Poly concierge......ever. I'm glad different people enjoy different resorts because the Poly was a big disappointment for me. Now perhaps I'll try AKL or GF.

okay, guilty! LOL (i haven't read all 10 pages of the thread, but i qualify i think!)

we stayed concierge for the first time last year: GF lodge and Royal Palm both.

We happened to have a bad experience at Royal Palm and prefer Sugarloaf, but MANNNN is it hard to think of going back and staying anywhere else!

i'm excited that we're even going this year (thanks azz code and low airfares!) but still dream of the smell of the coffee pouring into the room every morning from the lounge just outside...*sigh* am definitely going back there someday!!!

I went over to the Trip Reports Board and read your trip reports, YCFAN and posted on one of them.
And I agree that all of us have our favorites.
If anyone hasn't read these reports, please do....as YCFAN posted quite alot about concierge services and the "glitches".
And, I've experienced those "glitches" too!

Looking forward to returning to the BC CL!
I called again today to see if the YC CL had a WV room, but nothing was available. BTW, #5175 is a fabulous WV room!!!

hey, here's a question for you! who is your favorite concierge? Ours at SL was/is Norma. What a DOLL! Just about the most adorable woman I ever met in my life LOL.

I couldn't wait to get my coffee and chat with her every morning! I am NOT a morning person but i got up every day at 6 when we were at "the loaf" as my dd called it (all the staff started calling it that too they thought it was funny!) we also loved Zena who is a food services CM...we called her our "Warrior Princess of The Loaf!" LOL we had another great one too, man, his name escapes me at the moment. I should be ashamed, it wasn't even a year ago! darn neuro patient brain!

I missed my "doing the single digit dance".....I was too busy trying to tie up some loose ends at work!

What an enlightening report GeekChic! I saw your reference above and thought I'd share for a moment. I DIDN'T win the lottery but came close, so I decided to have my be-all trip to Disney in Dec 2002. I stayed 31 days (the max, I was told at the time, that anyone can stay in the same room). So from Dec. 2, 2002 to Jan 3, 2003 I stayed at Sugar Loaf. I went by myself as I usually do to have the best time I could at the Happiest place I know of. Oh, and I also stayed on the Grand/Platinum plan. It should be renamed to "Eat your way around the World! "

It wouldn't have been too bad except that the weather was uncooperative and I caught a bad cold. Sugar Loaf couldn't have been nicer - they sent up chicken soup and crackers, LOTS of kleenex, and even came to my room every day to make sure I was still breathing.

BUT I had a lot of meal coupons to use (leftover) with only 3 days left on my trip. So, I did things the Disney way. I took total strangers to breakfast, lunch and dinner - some of these people I still keep in touch with!

Just thought you might be interested - they told me I stayed the longest in one room ever! Don't know if its true or not. As for my fav CL - surprise, it's not GF but rather BWI.

Today was DS's THIRD Birthday!!! After we spent half the day at the doctor (NO new news), we had a great afternoon playing with his cousins and eating pizza and Buzz Lightyear ice cream cake. We ordered WAY too much so I'm leaving some out for all of you....great CHICAGO pizza and oreo and mint choc. chip ice cream cake. Enjoy!!!

BT and lovesdumbo... Thanks for the b-day wishes for DS the other day! Now I must go back and read up on the posts I've missed!!!

I know I have asked about this before but I cant find the answer.

Do they still give you small bottled water to take to the parks ? At the WL CL ?

We stayed there for 9 days back last Oct and there always had it ready for me when I called from the room for it . We would gab that and frozen apple juice on our way out to the parks.

We will be back on the ol 7th floor in Sept and wondered if we would still get our goodies???

GeekChic My favorite concierge is the BWI and it is because of the cast there that I love it so much. Jackie, Robin and Scott make your stay as magaical as possible. I can't wait o go back.

Woody Belated Happy Birthday to your son. Have you decided if you will do CL this trip or are you going in a regular room?

I returned to work only to find 4 of my fellow cast members leaving the store! They are all moving to Florida and working at WDW! One is our ASM who is wonderful. We will all be meeting when I go down in Oct. I think we will be going to the MNSSH party on the 17th. Can't wait. One more thing to look forward to.

Mad4Mickey - I don't think any of the CL put out bottles of water anymore, they have either large glass bottles or pitchers of water.



I still have heard back from the IPO at the Poly. I wonder if I should email them instead of call? We want to get an Illuminations cruise the first night we are there. We have friends going that have never been to WDW and I think they would love that.

ValerieK .... email the Poly and tell them specifically what you want, and ask them to reply that they received your email. They are very good about responding to email..usually within a day or so. I have never called...do everything via email, so I am not sure of what is going on there. But, I do know that they will do whatever they can to get what you need.

I got a vacation tips post card from the Poly yesterday, imagine my surprise and excitement. I have been to Disney many, many times and stayed at BWV, YC, GF and never received this. It is even personalized. I am convinced it's because we are staying concierge. What do you guys think?

Geekchic, welcome to the Lounge! It's really tough for me to pick a favorite concierge overall. My favorite for food is the Poly, my favorite for staff is the YC, and my favorite for luxury/pampering is the GF RPC.

Just a tip about your itinerary. When we checked into the YC they had an itinerary all ready and printed out for me and presented it to me along with my room keys. It was my itinerary for the entire week not just during my stay at the YC. (LOVE those people.) When we checked into the Polynesian I wasn't even given an itinerary. Later that day I thought about it and thought it was odd that they wouldn't have one for me. After all, they didn't know if YC had given me one for the whole week. When I asked for it, they apologized, said I should have been given one and quickly handed me one that they had there waiting for me. I thought that's better they just overlooked it during check in. I glanced at the itinerary and it was completely wrong. Changes I had made weren't on it and some of the dinners had been canceled altogether and new ones booked but had not been changed on the itinerary. All of the changes had been done a minimum of a week before we went. When I said something to the staff member his reply was "oh, I didn't ask for any updates on your account". These were the original PS's I had booked very early on. Just make sure you know where and when your PS's are. I've NEVER had this problem with the YC but this was my experience with the Poly.
