Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

Sorry for the double post.

I didn't want to post too much information about the Summerhouse BBQ because I know Janet would be able to describe it so much better than I could.

The BBQ was amazing. We made our way to the Grand Floridian from the Wilderness Lodge and were told where to find the Summerhouse. Our jaws dropped when the party area came into sight. The area was blocked off and we were met by Stuart-if I ever have an event at WDW, I hope Stuart can handle the arrangements. He is wonderful-very professional. He seems to really have that Disney spirit.

We were overwhelmed by the food offerings: steaks grilled to order, corn on the cob, shrimp, salads, chicken. We all stuffed ourselves! :hyper: There was a gentleman there who made sure we had seconds of whatever we wanted (I don't remember his name) Our drinks were always full. I had a chance to talk to the bartender for a while about how he moved his family down to Florida and where his daughters go to school. He was very nice.

My children really enjoyed meeting and spending time with Janet's daughter. She is a doll!

The breeze coming off the water was so nice during our dinner. Time just flew by as we talked and listened to some of Janet's wonderful stories.

I should say that we all just stood there in shock when we saw the boat come around the island after our arrival at the party. It took a moment to realize who was waving at us. Mickey Mouse!
I guess this was the first time Mickey ever made an entrance like that. It was like something out of a movie. The boat pulled right up onto the beach (we thought Mickey was going to fly right out.)

I still can't believe Mickey was the surprise guest. He took many pictures and spent a lot of time with everyone at the party. We will never forget such a special time with Mickey. Thanks Janet!

Janet, you can share any of the pictures that you have of my family (just in case you were wondering.)

Many more exciting things happened that evening. I hope you all get a chance to look at Janet's photos. Janet just seems to have a way with words and with photos, so I hope she gets to describe the evening soon.

:sunny:

I e-mailed Poly concierge about our Priority Seating for October and they got back to me the next day-very fast! They said they will note what we want and make them 90 days out. I like that we can e-mail them if we need help ahead of time.

I just wanted to mention to you Lounge Lizzards that are cruising with Disney about the Romantic Escape at Sea package as well. It is $299 and includes a couples massage, gift basket, champagne breakfast (room service), romantic turn down service and Palo $10pp included. The package is great because you can make your Palo and spa reservations ahead of time. We made ours for October already! You can also request your dining assignment and if you are on the 7 night cruise Palo brunch and tea as well. This means you do not have to rush around on boarding day.

Looking forward to our 8th anniversary trip!!!:Pinkbounc

Floridafam - That was really cool! Thanks for posting. I was trying to make a guess on the special surprise. At least I had Mickey right - LOL! I bet everyone was thrilled. Especially the little folks that attended.

One of these days, we will just have to throw a lounge lizard dis meet party @ WDW!

I know there's been quite a few "lizards" that have joined lately (you know who you are - LOL), so a big welcome to you!

Prayers & PD to everyone in need.

The excitement is mounting here, but we are all keeping busy, busy, busy. Our daughter had a hair appointment this a.m., cheerleading practice this p.m., and a softball game this evening. I had errands to run, last minute laundry to do, and my own hair appointment this afternoon. Our son is just hanging around waiting for his hair appointment AND running our daughter around. :teeth: He needs to get used to waiting around on women. :D My husband played golf this a.m./p.m. and is now mowing the huge lawn.

Around 7:30 tonight we'll all take a deep breath and it will be Guinness time for Tess because. . ."I'm on vacation. . .". . .the work is done and it's time to load and head out tomorrow for the airport and a nice visit to a Marriott for the night.

Yeah, we're getting pretty excited. Keep your fingers crossed that the weather is grand and we won't need an :umbrella: It does just figure that the weather here in MI turns beautiful just as we head for vacation. I know, however, that it won't last long. . .Michigan weather is as changeable as Florida's.

If I don't get back by the lounge--everyone have a lovely 10 days--I know I will! ::yes:: :grouphug:

Tess - LOL - You're are "training" your son right, aren't you? You have a great trip! We're not too far behind you. :wave2:

***clearing throat**** SINGING - "Happy trails to you until we meet again!"

Some more on Janet2k's Summerhouse BBQ,

After we arrived, we had the pleasure of meeting Bonzie1 from the DIS boards and her DH. They also attended the BBQ. They are both very nice people and we enjoyed talking with them throughout the night.

You'll notice in Janet's pictures, a table full of etched glasses. Bonzie1 and her DH had a beautiful Disney World glass mug engraved with each person's name on it for the private dinner. They are beautiful and something I'm sure we will chersh forever.

The evening didn't end with the BBQ. Again, this was Janet's event and I want her to be able to share it in words and pictures, so I'll stop here.

:wave2:

Floridafam......you're killing me here!!! How about a little more - LOL! :chat: :listen:

I've uploaded more photos since Floridafam and Bonzie1 gave me permission to use their darling faces and those of their families. :D I've been trying to get all the captions completed but Yahoo just timed-out on me (when I upload and edit too many photos, I overload their system, drats -- this happens all the time to me and is one of my biggest Yahoo complaints). Anyhow, I hope there are enough photos in my photo album to keep you folks happy for a while -- please click here to view it.

Floridafam, thanks so much for describing the event. Keep up the good work!

is it just me? or is Janet's site down?:(

I can't see the pics!!! ACK! The torture of not seeing Janet's beautiful, wonderful pics!

Tess..HAPPY Trails to You!
Until we meet again.....!!!! lalalalalaladala!:sunny:
See you next week, Tess!

VAgal..I emailed Poly IPO and am waiting for a response.
I also cleaned out my box....again!;) :p

I was just about to post the same thing...couldn't see Janets pictures. The party sounds lovely so I'm really looking forward to seeing how much fun everyone had.

We stayed in a garden suite for part of our honeymoon last December, and I think that's the suite we had! It was #1204, and it was the last suite that had a garden (the one next door was built into the resort and had no garden). It was fabulous! My DH and I loved it, and we can't wait to return. ::yes::
Oh, Elisabeth dear...this certainly sounds like the one we LOVE too. It's the last one with a garden, and very "private" and quiet. I know they all seem this way...but this one IS different from the rest. I'll visit it this summer, and take some pics! Maybe I'll even reserve it for a future stay. We just love this resort, and accomodations. It's like having a little "house" in the middle of WDW. :cloud9:

BambiTamby~Lol...Universal Studios does not handle the reservations for these suites. Over there...the right hand does not know what the left is doing!! Therefore, I always call the Concierge at the resort directly, and reserve the suite. These are one/two bedroom Villa suites (butler w/pantry and separate servants entrance into this room). I'll pm you and give you some suite #'s, including the one pictured (OURS). I received another confirmation regarding our stay...and requested ammenities in the room (sodas, bottled water, Vino, special Wine/fruit/cheese platter, cookies and milk each eve (prepared and served via a wonderful presentation!), ionizer/filters in each room, chenille blankets on the sofa's, plus a few surprises for DD & DH. A Limo is also being sent to pick us up from our CL suite @ the Peabody resort. ;) Fresh Seasonal Flower arrangements and balloons are also being placed in the suite. :hyper: Just plain ole FUN stuff!! I'll be contacting you soon...sis. I KNOW you would savor this place, especially the view from the enclosed Piazza~! Sip some Italiano Vino...or some L. R. Cristal...and let the GOOD TIMES ROLL! :sunny:

k&a&c'smom~Glad you enjoyed your time at the HRH! I've heard so many things about this resort, and the CL. We too, enjoy the parks of Universal. It just offers a bit of a difference from WDW. Since we are on vacation more than 2~months...we NEED a change! We also visit Sea World, and Busch Gardens, etc. It helps that we have PAP's to WDW, and AP's to US/IOA! :teeth: We play...and play, and play!!! Even at the beach...for 10 eves in a Villa...we PLAY! It's a break from the parks. We shop the Indian River Mall, make sand creatures on the beach, surf with our boards currently in storage in Orlando, and just RELAX. ::yes::

PatriciaH ~When are you cruising? I would LOVE to book this package, and completely forgot about this on our last two cruises...(too busy with excursions and Spa reservations). I prefer a nice package...where we can enjoy some time together. Sounds wonderful. Thanks for the info. :goodvibes

VAgal76~Like in Field of Dreams..."build it, and they will come!" So...PLAN IT, AND WE WILL COME!! :teeth: I'm all for a lounge lizard dis meet party!! Where do we start?

Janet's party sounds more and more WONDROUS!! Thanks for all the details Floridafam, and the link Janet. :D

Enjoy the eve....and the GUINNESS TIME, Tess!! Have a wonderful & safe Trip!!

Have a wonderful vacation, Tess and family!

BT>> AWESOME sign!!

Big wave to everyone! By the end of today, my report cards should be done and exported! Seven more school days! (not counting today, of course!)

Frances999---it's surprising given how responsive the AKL IPO has been (5 minute turnaround at the most)....
but i'll try calling in a couple of hours when they open up and see if the personal touch doesn't do the trick....we're leaving in only a few weeks and i have some things i'd like to finalize before then....
i'll call the WL IPO at the same time....i haven't tried writing them yet....i'll just cut to the chase and call them...

#1hockeymom -- what are you doing posting in the middle of the night????....it's daytime for Frances999 and me, but it's most definitely a case of burning the midnight oil for you..

I posted a new thread, but maybe you experts can help here...

Trying to book for April 2005. Which should I do GF or Poly Conceirge for 2 days (the rest is at the DVC Beach Club -- all on DVC points)? What are the benefits of each?

We've stayed at the Poly (hubbie's fave) three times in the last six years (regular rooms), so I'm open for something new.

We will be coming again in 2006 for our DD's chorus performance and will definitely stay at the GF Conceirge (just a few days) for the two of us.

Which of the two would be appealing for a 12 yr. old???

Appreciate all your opinions!
