To Woody - my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this tragic time in you life.

To Goodferry - Make sure you put your film in your carry on BUT DO NOT put it thru the xray machine - it will expose the film and/or damage it. The Fed'l Govt recommends putting the film in a ziploc bag and asking security to hand check it. Same rules apply with film you have have used but not developed.

To all other LL - thanks for your prayers and PD's re: my knees. I am mobile now (albeit with some MAJOR limping and occasional strange looks from people looking at my taped knees). I have doc appts this week to get MRI results.:earseek:

To everyone going to WDW - I'm REALLY JEALOUS (but in a good way). Say hi to Mickey for me!:teeth:

Our pool has been open since Mother's Day! :earseek: It was nice around that time and turned cold here thereafter. We were hangin' poolside today--it was heavenly, but I'd much rather be sunning at Polynesian. . .and I will be in two more days! Woohoo! :hyper:

#1hockeymom ahhhh haaaa! I thought it was you who offered to do some of my laundry. THANKS!

All I can think about ALL day long is how I miss being at the Poly. I don't know how I'm going to wait until next October to go back.
I am getting SO excited for everyone who has trips coming up soon...excited and jealous lol.

I do have a little mini vacation to look forward to in September though. We go to Cedar Point in Ohio every year for Halloweekends--big coaster nuts here!

Oh and BTW...it did seem that our arrival wasn't handled te way I thought it would be. They were quite busy so that could possibly have something to do with it. Other than that one little glitch, the rest of the vacation was silky smooth. Our 19 month old DS LOVED Figment. After the ride we figured we'd buy him a stuffed toy of him. He didn't want anything to do with it and picked up this little rubbery light bulb and started playing with it. I tried to put it back and hand him the Figment doll but he pitched a fit so we ended up paying around $6.00 for that darned light bulb.

Woody....I hope you are feeling better. I have been thinking about you today and keeping you and your family in my prayers.

I am breathing a sigh of relief tonight! My son-in-law, Joshua, is home from overseas safe and sound!:bounce: He is in the Air Force and stationed at Pope in North Carolina. It was touch and go about coming home , but they finally arrived early Sunday morning.
With both my daughters married to military men, things have been rather tense at my house lately. Suzy and Josh will celebrate their 5th anniversary in sept. with a trip to WDW. They have been in Germany for 4 years before coming back to the states 18 months ago. It has been ages since they have both been to WDw and they are very excited.
Well, thanks for letting me share my relief.
Woody, I hope you are doing Ok. I still have your family in my prayers.

Hi, folks! My family got back from WDW last night. We truly had a magical vacation that was made even more special because a few of my fellow Dis'ers, Floridafam and Bonzie1, shared their vacations with us. I promise to write about it soon.

I see that someone’s Eagle Eyes have already spied the dinner invitation that my Grand Floridian Convention Services’ Cast Member created for my dinner party. I actually placed the image of that dinner invitation in my on-line photo album right before I left on vacation. I’m not sure how closely the final product resembled the initial product since I did not get the opportunity to view the completed dinner invitation, but I’m hopeful that either Floridafam or Bonzie1 will share what they found in their dinner invitation picnic baskets. By the way, if you look closely at the dinner invitation, I think you’ll recognize Mickey Mouse’s handwriting (click here). The CM who put together my dinner party suggested Mickey’s handwriting for the invitation and I wholeheartedly agreed -- it was perfect. I just love those little Disney touches, don’t you? ;)

Floridafam or Bonzie1, please feel free to post about the Summerhouse Barbeque Dinner Party. I probably won’t get around to posting about it for several days (two of my coworkers are presently in Europe on business so I’m going to be swamped at work for quite awhile). Plus, it will be fun for me to read about what others thought of the party.

Before I close, let me just state for the record that the entire staff of the Grand Floridian Resort and Convention Center did an incredible job with my dinner party (and the rest of my vacation, too). I have a standing promise with the Grand Floridian that I not divulge any names, so please forgive me for keeping mum on this topic (this is a hard promise for me to keep, believe me).

In regards to my dinner party, there is nothing that I would have changed. Not one thing. The venue (the Grand Floridian’s Summerhouse patio & beach area) was lovely, the ~special~ touches (Mickey Mouse’s "unique" arrival; the way my guests found out about the “surprise” dessert party) were beyond memorable, the food & drink (steak, shrimp, chicken, beans, Cinderella’s Slipper, Mickey mousse, soft drinks, hard drinks, wines, juices) were scrumptious, the music & lighting were perfect (ambience galore including piped-in music from Wishes), but best of all, my dinner companions (the families of Floridafam & Bonzie1) were out of this world, Disney or otherwise. The entire evening was perfect and I will never forget it. I am very thankful that my family had the opportunity to share that magical evening with others.

There is NO comparison to WDW resorts in the Orlando area; everyone else is a "wanna-be."
So sorry to read about your terrible experience in this resort. I'm glad they took care of everything for you with regards to your move. We have experienced the exact "Opposite" when visiting the PBH. We spend the majority of our time on Disney Property, but absolutely LOVE the PBH Villa Suites, Peabody CL, etc. ::yes::

*We too...LOVE the Garden Suites @ the BWI. Ohhh, the farthest one on the end of the row, is our #1 favorite. They remind me of English Garden cottages, (of which I could take-up permanent residence in...and be very content!). We love the quiet pool, the gorgeous plants, trees and birds, and the comfy/cozy accomodations. They are a bit out of the way from CL, but I believe that's the idea~! Serene Seclusion...smack-dab in the middle of the WORLD!

Janet2k~Back to work so SOON?! :( That's the worst part of ending a WDW Visit! The details of your stay, and the wonderment of the Summerhouse Barbeque Dinner Party (C'mon Floridafam/Bonzie1...post your views!) sound spectacular! ;) Thank you, for sharing with some of our FAVORITE DISers. You are one in a million, Janet!

KerryCM~Happy Reunion!! :hyper: Enjoy this special time together with your family. :cloud9:

:rotfl: Isn't that just the way kids are?!? PRICELESS! Thanks for sharing this cute story. Glad you enjoyed your stay at the Poly. :D

#1hockeymom~Denise PM'd me with a suggestion for Tea @ the GF, with the HATS!! :teeth: I opted to drive from Disney's Vero Beach for this event!! Are you going to be there too? (Please say YES!). :goodvibes I'm sure this will be a memorable gathering. :grouphug:

aesalsa~Thanks for the info, and link. ANY RC is A~OK with us! We love the ones here in Cali, and over in Paris...oh, don't get me started. :chat: Hope you have fun, and enjoy the LOUNGING...and SPA TREATMENTS!

Enjoy the EVE! TTFN...

mmausse...continued prayers for your recovery!
And so sorry to hear about your negative experience at PBH!
Glad you were comped with a GF suite, you deserved it...no doubt!::yes::

dreamflight...Hi SISTA! I'm going to take you up on that offer for the villa info....I called Universal and inquired about the butler villas and this reservationist had no idea what I was talking about. Only CL rooms on Club suite level.
Looks like US/IOA has their "clueless" employess, also!:p

Janet2k...anything that you touch turns to gold! I can NOT wait to hear more details of your lovely party!
I did see your invitation on your picture site and am looking forward to more! You are "first class" all the way!princess:

KerryCM....thanks for the good news about your SIL!
And a 5th anniversary trip to WDW...how wonderful!:sunny:

aesalsa...thanks for the RC info! WOW! What a deal for New Orleans! My first two college years were spent at Loyola Univ in New Orleans! The "City that Care Forgot"!

Tess...Looks like you're "next"!:hyper:
Looking forward to meeting you and your family next week!:wave2: :teeth:

VAgal...got too busy to call today! Hopefully I'll have some time tomorrow! :chat:

Kimberle...yes! You're the lucky gal with that discounted 14th floor CL room! And so happy to hear that you're getting that
"pampered" feelng! Nice...isn't it?;)

Big  and :thewave: to everyone else in the lounge!

BambiTamby, you are too kind.

I have begun posting a few photos of the dinner event in an on-line photo album -- click here to view it. I have more to post but won't do so until I have permission from Floridafam and Bonzie1. I also will order photos that Disney took of my event (a Disney photographer was hired to take candid photos throughout the evening). The Disney photos are much nicer than anything that I took with my own camera.

mmausse---eeeeuuuuwwww......that is really the reason i truly hate hotels....all hotels....even the best....because you're still sleeping where other people slept.....and bathing,....etc. etc.....well...i won't go there as it will just disgust me to think about it...
i wish more hotels would eliminate carpets... .marble/stone/ceramic/wood floors are so much easier to keep clean....but again, i'm not going to think about it...
i've gotten more upset by it with age...it never bothered me as a kid....but i guess with age, comes fastidiousness...
actually, i can't wait until we come back from vacation....i'm going to have the kids bedroom carpets replaced with wood-like floors (whatever that's called)....the rest of the house has stone floors (except for the basement, but it's too much of a nightmare to think about ripping up the basement carpeting...maybe one day)...
i stupidly put carpeting in the kids rooms when we first moved in 14 years ago...what WAS i thinking...of course, getting to the floor through all that junk will be a challenge....

luckywife-- we love cedar pointe...great coasters!!!! ...when the kids were little we would go for two days, spending the night at one of those nearby motels.....(there's one with an indoor pool...maybe it's the courtyard....it wasn't bad)...

Good morning all! Coffee's out-help yourselves.

A quick question-Can you tell me if there is a different procedure for BWI CL checkin? (At YC you have a special "gold key" and they check you in at the CL desk on the 5th floor).

We stayed in a garden suite for part of our honeymoon last December, and I think that's the suite we had! It was #1204, and it was the last suite that had a garden (the one next door was built into the resort and had no garden). It was fabulous! My DH and I loved it, and we can't wait to return. ::yes::

KerryCM, I am so glad to hear that your SIL made it home safely! What wonderful news--I am sure your daughter is just beside herself with joy! Thank your SIL and daughter for the sacrifices they make to keep us free for me. :)

Good morning! :wave2:

KerryCM - I'm glad your family has returned home safely :sunny:!

BambiTamby - I completely understand what's like to be completely buried. We'll touch base whenever we can.

That garden suite has my name on it.....it just keeps calling to me....stay with me, stay with me - LOL! I'll get it one of these days.

Janet2K - Sounded like you and your party guests had an absolutely spectacular time! :teeth: I'll spend more time on visiting your photos later on. From the sneak peek I took, I thought it was very lovely.

Tess - Looks like you are next to venture out. Then who to follow ;) - BT????? Vagal????? Who else?????

((((BIG ROOM WAVE))))) To all you guys!

Morning to all!

Yes! That BWI garden suite is calling my name, too!
Can't wait until our 10th, to stay there!

After being on the phone this morning with AKL CL,
you know, "tweeking"....I was told that there ARE two 1 bedroom suites with Kings in the master bedroom.
I know someone was asking about that earlier. :)

mom_rules...thanks for the coffee!
And that's a very good question abut the BWI CL.
And I'm sure Kerry or mmausse will be here shortly to answer the CL check-in procedure at BWI.
Or our dear Elizabeth...ead79!:wave2:

VAgal....Why is it that we become completely swamped whenever we're getting ready to leave on a vacation? :duck: :faint:

gosh! I'm READY for CL to "take me away"!!!!!:cloud9:

I left out some breakfast offerings, too!
Pineapple bread, bagels, muffins.....lots of butter and cream cheese....

See ya'll later!

mom_rules, when we checked in at the BWI CL, we checked in at the front desk (by a very friendly CM named Xia). We were given gold keys that allowed us into the lounge (though the door was not locked during our stay, I understand it is now). Hope that helps! :)

BT - I think we are swamped right before because we try to fit three weeks of work into one to two weeks of time! :crowded: :crazy2:

Speaking of AKL, I just found out yesterday that Sue's last day is the 19th! I'm going to pop in that morning before heading out to the parks to wish her well for her surgery. Don has been really responsive. I had re-arranged nearly all of PS's at the very last moment! He's such a trooper. :teeth:

Have you guys had better luck calling WL IPO rather than e-mailing? I know they must be busy over there like we are. I just get a little impatient at times. I'm pulling in my reigns! Just want to see what you think will work best.

Thanks!

but I’m hopeful that either Floridafam or Bonzie1 will share what they found in their dinner invitation picnic baskets

I have the invitation and I will look for it. It was worded a bit different than the one pictured.

We were in our suite for hours before we noticed the basket. My DH said "where did this come from?" It was a beautiful picnic basket with a red/white checked towel. It was filled with bread, cheese, water, oranges (DH said the oranges were GREAT! much better than the ones on WL CL), utensils, napkins, etc. The invitation was rolled and tied with ribbon. We were all so excited to receive our invitation to the Summerhouse BBQ.

KerryCM - What relief you must be feeling, DSIL back at home!!::yes:: We all share in your joy, as well as your DD's!!:teeth: I can't imagine the stress you all must feel, with family members in the military - very scary.:grouphug:

aesalsa - thanks for the info on the RC - I absolutely looooove NO, would love to be able to visit this year. But, our big WDW trip and DS's marriage/college entry are soaking up any extra funds!!;) In fact, I love NO so much, when we visited Seaside, FL last summer I chose a cottage owned by New Orleanians, called "NO Angel!":sunny:

DF - we really enjoyed our stay at HRH, and loved the coasters, etc. at US/IOA. Thought about adding a day on this year to try PBH, but just couldn't work it out. Maybe next year!::yes::

Janet2K - What a lovely party! A perfect summer evening, it looks like! Looks like you and the GF really know how to throw a party!!::MickeyMo

Tess - Look at that counter!!:Pinkbounc You must be getting soooo excited!:earseek:

Big Wave :thewave: to everybody in the lounge!!:wave2:
