Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

Evening all!!

I was wondering. I am going to book my Limo from MCO to AKL. Should I add a grocery stop? We are staying Concierge. I was going to get a supply of water, soda, snacks and cereal. I have been reading about the food offerings in the CL, would it be an overkill to get these snacks and things? Will I be able to fill up the water bottles before bedtime to freeze for the next day. I am so confused:confused:

We will be eating at different food establishments but my DH DD15 DD15#2 and DS5 are used to eating a snack in the afternoon and evening. DS5 is used to having 2 cookies with milk before bedtime.

I dont want them going into the CL and embarassing me.:o

Thanks again everyone for all the kind words and thoughts. You LIZARDS really are such a special group of people.

Just put DD and DS to bed. DD is sick with 103 fever and the stomach flu. DS is sick with a bad cold and the most horrible sounding cough. I am suffering through the worst "morning sickness" (all day sickness) than I've ever had with my other pregnancies. It takes all the energy I have to get dressed in the morning and do my hair and make-up. There's not much I can eat or drink. I hope the lounge is stocked with lots of ginger ale !!! LOL!

sojo and goodferry..... I'm so thrilled for you guys!!! I know your trips will be amazing and I can't wait to hear all about them upon your return!!!

I need to get to bed now, so nighty night lizards!!!!

WoodysRoundup: Sorry to hear about your sick DD and DS. Hope this is just the 24 hour bug.

I also had the 24 hour a day morning sickness and my Dr suggested trying ginger pills available at most healthfood stores. It may work. It helped my pregant best friend who was suffering at the same time as me. I ended up getting a prescription from my Dr for a pill that did work I forget the name of it. It is available by prescription only. If you are really having difficulty with food make sure you tell the DR. I lost 20 lbs before the Dr realized I was having so much trouble eating and holding the food. She told me I should have told her sooner.

I hope all goes well:D

KerryCM...wow...what a wonderful story! I will be sure to tell my friend about it...she is looking for someplace romantic to go with her boyfriend while we are all down there.

Woody...continued P & PD. I read somewhere on the boards about ginger lolipops...maybe you could try them too. But, in the meantime, I will put some ginger ale out in the lounge for you!:D

Goodnight all!

#1hockeymom- looks like we have even more in common. We travel so much with the team that we have potluck night and SHOOTER night down to a science:tongue:

Janet2k- Where are you? We need details, lots and lots of details!

Woody - Hang in there, kiddo, I know how you feel - I had that 24-hr. morning sickness with all three. With the boys, it pretty much went away after the first tri-mester, just got sick when I smelled strong odors. But with DD, it lasted the whole 9 mos., to some extent. It lessened, but I still felt queasy nearly all the time! Hopefully, you'll be in that former situation!;)

DF - That's great that your DD gets b'days all around!::yes:: Can you give me any suggestions for surprises at WDW for a 15-yr.-old? Nothing too extravagant, I do have a budget!;) But something different from what we've done before. DD wants to do some of the park tours, but she is a year too young for all the ones she wants to do! She is in dance 3 days a week (starting Pointe, gotta go tomorrow for the shoes! ) and has just started horseback riding lessons. Are there any dance-related items in any of the shops around WDW? Can't think of anything!

We can't wait to try CA Grill - I'll give you the low-down when we get back! I started my kids early going to good restaurants, I think it has given them a lot of confidence, but I've created a little gourmet monster in DD!:rolleyes1

Hey, lizards, check out my great new avatar, thanks to BT!!!

#1hockeymom - right back at ya, sister!! Can't wait for our trip in July, so excited!:Pinkbounc :jumping3: :Pinkbounc

Woody-I think all that morning sickness is a good sign-sign of a nice healthy baby. Thats what I kept telling myself with baby #3-it was more than 20 weeks of morning sickness and I honestly don't know how I got through it. I only gained 8 lbs during my pregnancy and the baby was 8 lbs 13 oz but I was overweight to start (I've lost 43 lbs since Jan). I tried 2 different prescriptions for the morning sickness and they both made me too tired so I gave up on those. One of the OB's in my practice tried to tell me it was no different from my other pregnancies-I just didn't remember otherwise I'd never have more than 1. I didn't buy that afterall how many times had HE been pregnant? Sending PD for you and kids. My 3 have been sick with stomach bugs and now colds and the baby is teething like mad so not much sleep for Mom.

DF-when is the Doll & Teddybear convention? I tried to do a search earlier but couldn't find anything. I thought maybe I could get SIL to attend if the dates overlap ours. My DH seemed to have the best time last trip when we met up with his sis who was there for the marathon (first marathon for her at age 57-WOW!). We didn't know she was doing it til after we made our reservations so it was sort of like magic....

Good night Lizards-I really ought to get some sleep while I can.

fran99999...
i think this depends on the person, but when we've stayed at a CL we haven't really needed much in the way of extra snacks....the kids manage to fill up in the CL.....but then again, each CL has been different in terms of what it provided.....some of the ones we stayed in had nice individual sized water bottles that we took with us....others didn't have that....
i suppose you can never have too many snacks when it comes to kids........that answer probably wasn't much help....

GoofyJoofy..
strangely, though we've resort hopped for the last 10 years or so, i don't have any tricks to make it easier....i'm sure i'm not doing it the best way....i think i've heard people refer to the CL cast members being very helpful in the move, but since i've never tried that i can't give you any tips.....what i tend to do is ask for extra time so that i don't have to check out 5 hours before i can check in....and on those occasions where they wouldn't give it to me i just took an extra night (meaning, i had two rooms for the same day)....that for sure isn't the best way to go, but it was convenient for me and so worth the money....now that i think about it, i've done this many times....paying for two rooms on the same day on the overlap day....
but i'm pretty sure the CL will help in moves....since we always rent a car, moving luggage is easy, but i think that the CL will move the luggage for you....maybe....
hopefully, someone with real knowledge about this will comment...

i'm not sure if i mentioned it, but we're also going to the portofino bay concierge (at universal).....i upgraded that reservation as well.....so i'll be able to make a comparison...

so this is our final itinerary:
Portofino Bay concierge (1 night)
AKL concierge (3 nights)
GF RPC concierge (3 nights)
DCL Wonder concierge (4 nights)
WL concierge (3 nights)

ta da.....as for extra stuff reserved:
Sunrise Safari at AK
Segway tour at Epcot
Banana boat ride at CC (on cruise)
Palo's brunch on cruise

when we get there i'll reserve us a fishing trip...i guess we'll do it when we're at the GF or WL.....maybe i'll make the reservation now....we ALWAYS go fishing....it wouldn't be a trip to WDW without fishing for those thyroid condition bass in bay lake...

any other neat tours/attractions i should think about?

Good Morning Lizards!!

Just stopped in to wish everyone who's leaving soon a great trip... and to grab a muffin and coffee on my way out!

Have a wonderful, magical day!

Disneyholic and Tess>> Spartan here, who married a wolverine who thinks the only REAL sport is Michigan football! I think people can figure out what my favorite sport is! LOL Now, I do know the old words I was taught in elementary school to "Liquidate Ohio State"..... but I like Tess so I'll just be quiet!

:rotfl: :rotfl:

I won't tell you what we used to say about UM! My husband is a Spartan fan--I wouldn't have married him otherwise. ;) He and I are pretty rabid about football, too. We root for anyone playing UM and, of course, he the Spartans and I the Bucks! ::yes::

I'm back as you all can see! The computer is like a brand spankin' new piece of equipment. I did get my sounds links, but haven't found a replacement for my old countdown screensaver. I've got one running, but it's not the same. I used to have a great one that you customized the script, colors, etc. and had floating boxes that gave the pertinent information you were counting down to--anyone else have one or could point me in the right direction?

I am having major DIS withdrawal after two days without my board buddies.
:earseek:

I've got my ginger ale in hand. Thanks for leaving some out. DS got me up at 5am so I already started the coffee for all of you. Enjoy!

fran, cajunfun,k&a&c'smom, and lovesdumbo... Thanks for sharing your tips and stories. FYI...Yesterday, I ordered "prego ginger pops" and accupressure wristbands for the morning sickness. I'll be staring longingly out the window until UPS arrives! LOL I, too, am hoping that the morning sickness is a good sign for this pregnancy, although I did read that you can mimic usual preg. symptoms even if the preg. isn't progressing normally. Still accepting PD!! :teeth:

k&a&c'smom... LOVE that avatar!!!!

lovesdumbo... congrats on the weight loss and thanks for the tips on letting my doc know about the morn. sickness. If all goes well on Mon., I will advise him.

disneyholic family... What a trip!!! It sounds AMAZING!

Have a fantastical day everyone!!!!!!! :earsboy:

Do yourself a favor...book the early trip (7am or 8am I think?). I love listening to people complain about the 10am trip because that is when the marinas open and all the water mice get out. They get upset because the boats come to close or make too much noise...whatever.

I hope to get an early fishing trip in one AM during our next trip.

Hope this helps.

Fred

When you email concierge, how long does it normally take them to reply? I emailed 2 days ago and have not gotten a response yet.

GoofyJoofy - Sorry, I missed a couple questions last night. We split our trip last time, and it was relatively easy. We checked out of the Poly, had the bellman get a cab, and headed to the AKL. You can certainly have bell services transfer your luggage and head to the parks, but I found it easier to just get a cab. Cost was only $13.50 + tip, so it was worth it to me. We checked into AKL right after checking out of the Poly at about 11:00 a.m. Hakuna Matata!;)

fran99999 - you can get snacks if you want, but there's really no need! There is lots of snacks, juice, milk, lemonade, tea, pop, etc. in the lounge. DD and I couldn't do the lounge offerings justice, we were always so full from eating out, but there was always something, up to 10:00 p.m. At the Poly, I simply asked the cm's if I could have one of the large glass bottles of water, they got it for me no problem. At AKL, the water is in a carafe, so that's a little harder, but other posters have stated they encourage you to fill water bottles from that. If you're staying AKL, it might be easier to get some smaller water on the way, if that's your preference. Can't remember which CL you're at?! Shame on me!:teeth:

Kimberle - I would email again, just in case. Melissa, at Poly/WL IPO was handling my PS's, and she went on vacation, didn't hear from them for a week. When I emailed, they sent a message that my stuff was being taken care of, and Melissa would email my itinerary when she got back. Just check with them, they might be working on your requests, or they may not have gotten your email - I like to be sure!;)

Kimberle

I would give it one more day and then email again or call, or Both!
They may be busy with current arrivals or any number of things. And remember that they(concierge planners) have different windows for priority seatings than we do. I know for CRT they can try at 90 days, but if they don't get it, they have a 14 day window that they can try. They will try to get what you want, and they usually do!

Have a great day!

well...one more change to our trip....
i'm going to blame you guys for this one.....for getting me to do the suite thing...

so....our WL concierge at the end of the trip is now WL Yosemite suite concierge.....i'm sure my husband and i will end up on the sofa bed...no matter....that balcony totally sold me...

Fred/Majestic -- we always go fishing in the afternoon (around 1, i think).....talk about stupid eh.....in the afternoon....in july.....in orlando where there is ALWAYS an afternoon thunderstorm just around the corner....and there you are, out on bay lake....but somehow we've never been rained out...
on the other hand, in the middle of the afternoon it's HOT!!!...
we always come back burned (i shouldn't admit that....really talk about stupid)....
but we like that time slot....that way we can go to one of the parks in the morning and then fishing in the afternoon....well...let me amend that....the kids fish....the adults watch and take pictures of the catch before they're tossed back...
a great way to spend two hours....oh...and the guide puts the bait (uck) on the hook.....what more could you ask for....

I feel for you-I was sick like clockwork every morning my entire first pregnancy-nothing helped -no soda crackers, gingerale etc.
1/2 way through my 2nd one they finally figured out it was the folic acid in the maternity vitamins!!!
The second they switched the vitamins-voila -no more morning sickness!

fran99999-I do plan on doing a grocery stop. I'll need diapers and wipes that I don't want to bring so I might as well pick up a few other foods for picky eaters (velveeta chese, apple sauce, baby yogart, PEPSI (Disney is a Coke world and DH missed his Pepsi), maybe some chips for DH as well as they didn't have any in the lounge and they were pricey at snack bar) I will also buy a case of water bottles. I think it will just be easier than trying to fill from a large bottle. In Jan I brought Britta bottles but DH said the water still tasted funny to him. But if want to fill from the lounge it would be a lot easier to fill those wide mouth Britta bottles and you can put ice in them. The CL has lots of other great snacks and really great cookies. Lots of cereal choices and milk, chocolate milk, juice boxes.

Woody still thinking of you and sending more PD. I never tried those pops but I read good things about them. I went to Disney when I was 26 weeks pregnant with baby #3. It was the perfect timing-I was finally over the morning sickness just a few weeks earlier so I could actually pack and while I took it very slow with just DD and friend we had a great trip and just wonderful/magical memories. If I had gone much later it would have been very difficult for me as I carried that baby very low. I don't miss those days of not having a blatter! That trip was the one that taught me how to enjoy a nice slow, relaxing pace.
