Have Wonder Questions? - Just off Nov. 1!!!

Do we need to pack our beach towels, or does DCL provide towels at the pools on the boat and CC? We leave Friday for our first cruise!

I didn't meet him if there was. The head activities director for our cruise was Tisa. And she was great!

Peter covers for Christiaan when he's on vacation. Christiaan told me that Peter will be covering over the Christmas holidays when Christiaan is home with family.

We tried a Carnival cruise last year and neither of my kids wanted to attend the camp. We went in at orientation and nobody made any effort to make the kids feel comfortable.
1.Did you have the early or late seating for dinner? We are scheduled for the late dinner because our TA said the kids could get room service before the early show then if they are tired they will have already have eaten and can just rest during dinner.
2.How did your children enjoy the shows?
3. Did you go to Palo? If so was it worth it?

Been on both the Wonder (July) and Magic (June) this summer. Kids counselors on both ships are fantastic!!!! They make an effort to come see your kids and introduce themselves. they also start asking the kids what they like, so they can talk about things they will do. My youngest daughter is 5 and she had a blast! She wanted to be the first one at the club when it opened! The counselors even came up to her during the sail away party and introduced themselves. Just look for the cast members in the bright yellow shirts and blue shorts - those are the kid counselors. Walk up to one when you see them with your child and introduce them to each other. They will engage with your child and can even tell them which age group they normally have and name some other counselors that may be with your child.

My other suggestion if your kids are shy is to grab a personal navigator and review it for the activites at the kids club. I did this and they identified the activities that sounded really fun that they wanted to do, so we knew when to take them to the club for it. I also would look for other kids on board that appear to be your kid's age and introduce yourself to them and their parents - just start talking. We did this both cruises (even in the terminal) and that way they had some other kids that they already met and could look for in the kids club. Mine would want to go see if their friend so-and-so that they met earlier was there. Once they go for a little while, they meet kids and start having so much fun, they don't want to leave!!

The dinner times are highly debated. We had early once this summer (Magic) and late seating on the Wonder. I actually think I liked later dinner better (both were fine). They have "dine and play" now for later dinner, so tell your server you want it and they get your kid's food out faster, so they can leave to go to the kids club when the counselors come (or you can walk them to the club, if they prefer). I found that less people seem to go to the early show, so we got better seats and the kids were more alert during it. They start getting tired during the later show. Definitely do NOT miss the shows. The kids love the shows - the characters are in the shows. DREAMS is the #1 rated show in the cruise industry. The entire theater is covered in pixie dust at one point!

Also, they have chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, etc all afternoon (until midnight) by the pool. You can swing by and get food for your kids before the show there instead of room service if they are hungry. Mine did. My kids prefered the chicken fingers, pizza, etc to the room service menu.

Yes, Palo is worth it. Don't miss it. The late dinner works even better for Palo, as you can go to the show with the kids and then take them to the club and go to Palo instead of your regular dinner assignment. If you are on the 4 day, they offer brunch on the day at sea. I actually liked brunch better than dinner (and I am not typically a breakfast person). The grape and bleu cheese pizza there is AWESOME. (sounds wierd, I know, but try it). Servers are great. If you think you want to try a pizza or pasta, ask for a half order as an app, they will do it.

Also, at the last night of the cruise, all of the kids that went to the kids club can do "Friendship Rocks". they get a t-shirt, learn a dance and go into the theater and perform a song. Parents can watch. My kids love it! Look for it in the Navigator and don't miss out!

Enjoy!

hi,
I had a question about the counselors coming to dinner to pick up the kids. How does that work? Do you arrange it ahead of time, or do they do a visit to the dining room at a certain time and whoever is interested can send the kiddos?
:cool1:

No need to arrange. The counselors come at a certain time and whoever wants to go, shows their wristband to check-in and goes! Only thing you need to do is tell your server when ordering that your kid wants "dine and play", so they will get their food out faster and the kids eat before the counselors arrive.

Thank you so much!!! We are in Disney now and know the late dining will work out better for our kids. We plan on seeing the shows every night then going to dinner. I do have a brunch and dinner ressie for Palo so maybe I'll keep brunch and cancel dinner so we can eat together. My youngest DS in now in full day pre-school, so I am hoping he will want to go play with other kids!:wizard:
